Not at all as pictured or described! Great marketing website but do NOT expect what you see on the website when you arrive. We stayed at Mount View for 4 days/3nights. Here are is what to really expect. Room - It is decorated nice and air worked great. There is no view but honestly we wouldn’t care if the rest of the property was nice. Our bathroom was surface cleaned but the tub tile grout needs to be scrubbed and tub recaulked.
Pool Area - It is absolutely disgraceful, neglected and need of much repair. The pool is filthy and needs to be resurfaced. It is rusting in areas and has black mold marks throughout. The ladder to the pool is broken with a cone and caution tape on it. The fence around the property is falling down. The pool bar was never open our entire stay. The mineral hot tub is disgusting. They will tell you that is from the minerals, it is not. We went to Golden Haven Spa for their spa and their mineral hot tubs did not look like that. Spa - It is advertised on their site if you book directly through Mount View you get two $25 credits for their spa. However you can’t get an appointment. We called two weeks in advance and were told they had no availability. We were told if something opens up they would call us or allow us to use the two $25 credits towards something else. When we checked in we were told they couldn’t do that. If you book through a third party (expedia, trivago etc) the room rate is cheaper but the hotel promises you this credit so you book through them spending more for the room.
The breakfast - Nice concept but the pastries are not fresh, they taste like they have been previously frozen or refrigerated for days. On 5/23 fresh pastries were delivered (see pics) but we were still being served the same pastries that were delivered days ago.
The hydration station - see pics it was also disgusting and unsanitary.
Quite honestly, during our entire stay I did not witness anyone cleaning anything.
Parking - there isn’t any. We were told to drive behind the property and find something on the street. This street is lined with commercial vehicles. Nearly impossible.
They advertised a fun movie night on their website however come to find out you had to pay to view the movie. Not at all mentioned on their website.
This was supposed to be a relaxing getaway. Instead, we left feeling deceived, frustrated, and taken advantage of. Mount View should be ashamed of how they’re operating this property. The owner should concentrate on making sure his hotel is top notch before investing in other businesses Absolutely do...

It's been a few years since I have stayed in Calistoga, and this hotel's century old charm and elegance is still in top notch shape.
Same adults only feeling with a calm and restful atmosphere as before. Great hidden gem in Calistoga that feels like a charming European community in a wine country town.
Walk anywhere and everywhere in this central location, yet quiet and comfortable rooms (there's a mini fridge for those of us GF that usually have to plan ahead) and a/c in each room.
While still under COVID-19 restrictions, things have changed, but only for the better. Instead of a voucher for the downstairs restaurant, you receive personalized breakfast items that arrive via room service (which are included in the price for the night's stay).
Particularly notable was the delicious gluten free fresh baked current and cranberry scone (not gritty and grainy) which arrived with local North Bay tea company (Republic of Tea) served at the time of your choice (quite a generous time selection of the morning).
For coffee drinkers, there’s an Illy machine in the room with eco-friendly real tea/coffee and espresso cups, saucers and stir spoons. (Thank you for not having more compostable/disposables)!
Rooms are sparkling clean (A+ for friendly and professional housekeeping service).
Pool is warm enough to relax but not too hot to swim (if you wanted to) and hot tub with the natural hot springs fed water was more spacious than I remember. It has some mineral deposits, and that’s a good thing ~ I want to know that it’s real living/healing water and calcium carbonate deposits are a good sign!
I look forward to returning again.
Even when I can't travel to Europe, or time travel to the 1920's, this fills both buckets with a dose of spa and...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is great and the pool and hot tub are nice. And that concludes the positive comments from this customer.||||The queen room for $350 per night was very small and basic. Seems that they have excuses for everything: ||||- there is no elevator to the second floor "because the hotel was built before the invention of elevators." ||- there is no straightening up the room "because of the drought." I get that you don't want to wash the towels after one use and am all for it. But for $350 per night, I think somebody should make the bed - nothing to do with the drought.||- there was no breakfast in the breakfast room because of COVID (never mind that we all sat in restaurants and wine-tasting rooms the whole time of our stay). Our room was just so small that it wasn't fun to have breakfast in it. But really their "breakfast room closed due to Covid" was also super small.||- the breakfast consists of muffin bread and weak coffee - when asked about a gluten-free option, they reluctantly offered a gluten-free scone.||- no hotel parking lot "because due to COVID their parking was taken away for outside dining options" which were not there. Our view from the room was towards a parking lot that was used for storing a food truck and several steel tanks used for winemaking. Parking only on the street or a public parking lot a block away. ||||Of course, this is all fine for a lower-priced place - but for $350 per night, it's definitely a very...
