The woman who served our wine (apparently she is the owner/part owner of the winery) was rude to my group. We were a group of 7 and we kindly asked if we could move our tables together so that we could enjoy our tasting together. She was rude in her response of telling us we weren’t allowed to do push our tables together. I don’t understand how pushing two tables together would change/ruin any other customers experience. The table was light enough for me to move, I was happy to move it together and back where it was. The tasting was unorganized and unprofessional. At the end of the tasting the woman who had been pouring our wines chased my two sisters on the way out of the business and said (in front of MANY other customers) “you two didn’t pay for your tasting”. First of all, whether or not it was true that they hadn’t paid yet, it is EXTREMELY unprofessional and disrespectful to call out a customer in that way in front of many other people. As a fellow public servant/customer service worker, I would NEVER approach a customer that way. My sisters and I all work in customer service based jobs, and whether or not she was right about two of us needing to pay for two tastings, she handled that situation completely unprofessionally and rudely. My sister even asked if she treats all customers that way and she couldn’t answer the question, which showed me she knew that how she handled it was wrong. I didn’t enjoy my experience, even before any of this took place. The environment was negative and the woman who served us was not enjoyable. I will never re-visit this winery and I will be canceling my membership with them. Besides all of the terrible service we were given, the wine...
Read moreAmazing tasting experience with Matt (owner). Our group came near closing and Matt was patient and showed his true passion for wine throughout the tasting. He wasn’t pushy to get us out the door. We had great conversation learning about the history of the company and wine making process. The wine was outstanding and our group purchased a few bottles. After many, many tastings throughout Napa Valley, this was easily in our top 3. Thanks again, Matt, and best wishes to you and August...
Read moreWe recently visited Calistoga for a wine tasting getaway. We stumbled upon August Briggs Winery while walking around and explore the downtown strip, and WHAT A FIND! Matt was so much fun to talk to and explained the intricacies of sourcing for various wines and considerations for selecting grapes for his wines. Not only did we learn a ton, but the wines were FABULOUS! We brought several bottles home and my partner has a list of new questions to ask next time we...
