We traveled to Maryland to participate in a triathlon and picked this hotel as we stayed here last year for the same event and had a great stay. Not so much this time!|Our 1st night here the toilet backed up and after calling down to the front desk the FIRST response from them was “come down and get the plunger”! WHAT!!! I didn’t realize we were responsible to fix their plumbing issues! As we need use of the bathroom though we had no choice.|The next morning I asked to speak to management and was told someone would be in later that morning. I left my contact information but never got a call.|Stopped at the front desk again later that afternoon and the same clerk feigned surprise that the manager didn’t call as she had given him my information. She then told me that “someone went to our room when we were gone and fixed the toilet”! First, my husband had already done that the previous night, second, I had no idea ANYONE was entering our room as they don’t send housekeeping unless requested and third, there is no safe in the room for valuables (we had our cash and credit cards with us but other personal proteas there!).|The next morning I finally get contacted by a manager who told me he was never in the previous day (so either the front desk clerk lied to me or he was lying). Explained all of the above and got a one night’s stay credit that I requested.|At $300/night for a Holiday Inn Express - yes, those are their rates on the Ironman Eagleman Weekend I would have expect...
Read moreStayed here for two nights in May 2021. My husband was riding in the Seven Pillars Century bike ride and we wanted some extra time to explore Cambridge. The hotel was decent. The room was quite large. The bed was very comfortable, there was a Keurig coffeemaker, a small fridge and a microwave in the room. The downside of the room was the bathroom. The sink area was out in the open (part of the main room), while the toilet and shower are enclosed. The toilet/shower room had the ugliest paint I'd ever seen (a very strange blue with sparkles in it) and the ceiling paint was peeling. The shower had decent water pressure but the floor is VERY slippery. I slipped getting out and banged my arm very hard on the edge of the shower glass - have a lovely bruise now. Someone with mobility issues could get seriously injured.
The first morning I went down for the free breakfast, and due to Covid there was no buffet, just a woman handing out breakfast "food". I got a cold Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich that I had to microwave in the room, an orange, and a cup of coffee. Not ideal, but it served the purpose.
The front desk staff was lovely. I went down to ask for a couple of extra K-cups for coffee and the girl at the desk went out of her way to find me some Splenda and extra creamers from breakfast.
Overall a nice stay. Take some time to explore Cambridge - it's a lovely little town with some nice galleries and restaurants, and the parks by the river...
Read moreI originally had a reservation at another hotel. Upon checking in I was unsatisfied with the hotel and very quickly called The Holiday Inn express in Cambridge MD.I was professionally and cordially greeted by Corina (a outstanding employee) whom I asked for help. The hotel was booked but she arranged to call me if something came open. In about twenty min She was able to get me a room at a excellent rate at her hotel . I moved from where I was to the hotel. She booked me for a night and then a reservation for the rest of the weekend. Again this was at a excellent rate in that I
am a veteran and senior citizen. Along the way I had funds
held up at two hotels so after talking with the MGR Mariah (another outstanding employee) she was able to solve the problem and reduce or release my held funds. I was so impressed that I then was able to switch my daughters reservations over to the hotel as well . again I was given a excellent rate based on the situation. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. I also would like to commend and give special notice to outstanding employees...
