My family and I visited your property on 6 April 2018. We were in the area for a college visit to VA Tech, Blacksburg. I checked into the room at approximately: 4:30pm on 6 Apr 2018 and immediately departed for above said visit to VA Tech. My family and I did not reenter the room until approximately: 9:00pm on 6 April 2018.
Upon entering the room we quickly discovered that the toilet was clogged. The toilet would not drain, filling the bowl with water. I was able to obtain a plunger from the front desk and after several attempts I was able to successfully unclog it. It is important to note that no member of my family utilized the toilet. It was apparently clogged by a previous quest. In fear of a second toilet malfunction my family and I utilized the public toilets located in the main lobby area for our stay. In retrospect public toilet usage was a positive choice because our hotel room was supplied with only a partially roll of toilet paper, less than ¼ of one roll.
To my surprise the toilet repair and public restroom usage was the least of my undesirable experiences while at your property. On the night of our stay you also hosted a college sports team at your property. The team occupied seemingly every adjacent room to the one I and my family were in.
Excessive noise along with the seemingly endless comings and goings, of fellow guests did not subside until after 2:00 am. My family and I were literally awake until after 2:00am due to excessive guest noise. With my next day’s events beginning at 6:00am less than 4 hours of sleep proved to be a challenge.
I can say with confidence that my stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, Christiansburg was the worst hotel/motel experience I have had to date but in all fairness it may have been the result of a “perfect...
This is a poorly maintained hotel (Fairfield Inn - Christiansburg, VA). When we checked in the refrigerator was NOT on. When turned on, it is set to only run a few short hours (2?) until it automatically turns itself off. (I have pics of this from inside the refrigerator). This is ridiculous. Nor did the refrigerator have a freezer area. Also, the room did not have the small coffee maker. ||We asked for a different room, explaining the refrigerator issue, and was finally given another one. Was told this is the type of refrigerators used, and didn’t know if the timer could be overrode. This next room had a refrigerator that was on, but the freezer was unusable because it had 3 inches of ice on the freezer floor (we measured). Also, there was ONE trash container for the entire room, bathroom included. This was supposed to be a “suite”. (NOT!). The next morning, the breakfast buffet was low quality compared to other Marriott properties. ||We were very dissatisfied with this hotel. Because there are not many Marriott properties, except Fairfield Inn, while traveling along Interstate 81, we may have to change to a completely different company. ||The morning of checkout we expressed our concerns with both rooms we were given and problems with the refrigerator but were told there was no way to make a formal complaint nor do a hotel review. ||We never received a customer satisfaction survey by email, thus not allowing us to do a review at the Marriott site. We would like to be able to note problems with this property so no one else besides us stays there and is unhappy until the issues are remedied. I would give this hotel ONE star.||Do not trust the reviews on the Marriott...
Read moreI am so grateful for the excellent service and care we got while staying at your hotel this weekend. My family drove down to VA. on Friday after getting the very sad news that my mom had passed away unexpectedly. I was grieving terribly and your staff was unbelievably kind and accommodating from the moment I called to make the reservation with Erika. The rate we were given was less than expected for the room that we were given. My daughter has Autism, so we needed a quiet room and we got that too! Every single thing about the hotel made us feel comfortable and like we were at home. The breakfast provided each day went above and beyond and the lady who was keeping the dishes full was very sweet. The food was better than many hotels I've stayed at in the past. The bed was amazing. Loved that we could open the window just a bit to get some fresh air! The little paved walking path behind the hotel was nice too. I walked there with my daughter one day. And to top everything off....some of my family was arriving very late Sunday night, from PA. I was helping them bring their things in and accidentally dropped a bottle of wine. The lady at the front desk was so sweet and helpful. I felt terrible but she showed complete kindness and was right out there at midnight sweeping up glass!!! I could go on about the staff and the accommodations at this hotel. We were so very happy with our stay under very very sad circumstances. Thank you for making us feel cared about....
