Stayed here for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. We called and made a reservation for a lakeside view since pool/lake view rooms were sold out but was for a great price for the holiday weekend. Room was outdated but at least it was clean besides the few stains in the carpet here and there. Pool was great no shade till after 5pm so bring an umbrella and sunscreen. Breakfast was just pastry items, microwavable breakfast burritos or little jimmy dean sausage biscuits and juice or coffee. We just walked across the street to the McDs. The pool was clean and filled, we did have a group of kids that were running and jumping in the pool causing too much waves and chance for injuries for others. They did get kicked out so that was good and the ones that were allow to stay toned it down. *Bad things: The trash bin stunk up the place if the breeze carried it over to the motel which was pretty unpleasant but it was hot outside so that probably didn't help. Free wifi was more like no wifi in our room, it was ok here and there by the pool depending how many people were on it which was whoever came in close enough to the place for it to connect. The ice machine would run out before 10/11am, and there is only the one so go early or buy a bag.

We used to stay here when it was the Lake Motel, they have efficiency apartments that you have to call to rent that are across a small parking lot. It was never known to be a 5 star resort but it was a clean cheap place for fishing trips. When I looked on the internet and found that it had been bought and was now under the Quality Inn name I could seethe pictures of the remodel and upgrades to the main hotel. I called and asked if they still had the efficiency apartments since you couldn't reserve them online, asked for 2 nights and then was surprised that the total was a little over 400$ but thought they had been remodeled hence why it was so much more than the last time I stayed here. Well I couldn't have been more wrong. You can see from the pictures nothing has been remodeled, the closet door wouldn't open more than a few inches because the floor is uneven and the tiles are cracked and uneven. No maid service the first morning to replace towels so I had to go ask for them. There used to be a place to clean and filet your fish outside but that is gone now. Needless to say we won't be going back. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in a rental, we used to enjoy staying here and fishing.

When I travel for business, I stay at Marriott and Hilton. Did I expect the attention to detail and quality of those two brands? No. Was it? No. Was it what I expected? Yes. The room was clean but badly needs updated. The tub didn't drain very fast. No mirror in the bathroom. But, as in real estate, location, location, location. Beautiful view of the lake ( or river, or reservoir, never did figure out what to call it). Also had view of the pool, which I did not use but was being enjoyed. We walked downtown and over to the brewery for a nightcap. The restaurant right next door was good and super convenient. I did sleep very well in the comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly!

I typically try to look on the good side when reviewing, but not this time. One night at this motel (including the pet fee) cost nearly $200 and for that I expected clean and well run accommodations at the least, especially after viewing the motel's website, which clearly led me to think it was a clean updated business. ||What I found was unacceptable. When we checked in, the staff seemed to me more concerned with making sure we understood what we would be penalized for and having me sign liability damage forms) for than what it could do to make our stay comfortable. ||We arrived at our room and the door key did not open the door. I walked back to the motel office and was told it does work. Staff walked me to the door and used the key and almost had to kick the door into get it to open. Apparently the door did not open correctly so every time we went in and out we had to almost kick the door open.|| It was downhill from there, later that day when we wanted to enjoy our balcony over looking the lake, we found a dirty plastic table (see photo) that looked like it had been used as an ash tray and there was a very sharp fish hook that was left exposed on the porch. (see photo) ||Despite the large bank of security camera screens in the lobby, noise is not reduced. Some guests held a loud get together near our balcony until 9 15 pm and my wife was woken up a 3:15 am by another guest who decided to talk on his cell phone outside our door. ||The next morning, while walking our dog, there was trash all around the property, perhaps because they're we not too many trash cans, that I could see anyway. ||Breakfast is available until 9 a.m., but at 8:15, there was one sausage patty left in the sausage pan and no coffee cups, though it seemed that no one was really monitoring the food area, except a lot of flies that were circling the trash can that was almost overflowing with trash from the morning.|| Inside our room, the bath/shower had dirty caulking and the base of the tub had so little tread both my wife and me almost slipped on it while taking a showers. Those are the highlights. || I have stayed at almost every major hotel chain and I have never experienced such a low level of accommodations, especially for nearly $200 a night. My advice would be to avoid this location and personally, I am not sure I would ever consider staying at a Choice property if this is what goes as a clean motel. It is truly a shame because it is a great location and has a good view of the lake, (as long as you avoid the fish hook and refrain from placing your food and drink on the...

We really tried to make the best of it… When we checked in, Peter, at the front desk, shared we had his favorite room with the best view of the lake. It was beautiful! The hotel is older with visible wear and tear, but we were there for our anniversary, so not our focus. The first night was fine. The next morning, the toilet overflowed and black residue was in the tub. There was a plunger, which I have never seen in a hotel…we tried to clear the toilet but it didn’t work, which was weird. When I called the front desk, they said housekeeping was on their way. They worked and worked on it while we were waiting but couldn’t clear the toilet. They tried to snake the system…still didn’t work. We went down to a small covered pier to wait. It was filthy with broken chairs, beer bottles everywhere, and trash all around including in the water. We decided to leave because it was taking so long and drove to Danville for lunch and to explore. When we returned, they were still working in the room. The toilet must’ve overflowed because they had mopped the entire room (no carpets) and the mop bucket with the nastiest water I’ve ever seen was outside the door. My husband tried to dry the recently mopped bathroom floor and the towel was black from the attempt. Regardless, we thought we were good to go, but another crew knocked on the door because the toilet wasn’t fixed. They worked until after 4pm while we waited to take showers for our evening out. That crew told us they couldn’t clear the problem. We were given another room and told we could use both rooms, one for the view and tv, the other for the bathroom. We chose to stay in the new room without windows. Peter offered us a 10% discount. The next morning at check out, Mike (front desk) said he couldn’t give us the discount on our current stay, even though it was written down in their notebook, but we could have a discount next time we stayed there. We tried to make the best of it, but It was just too much…this place is overpriced for what you get, dirty at best, and marginally safe or hygenic. The people are nice enough but not willing to make it right when things go wrong. We won’t...
