My family come here about 2 times a year as a group. Never gave these people any problems and never heard a complaint just mostly was watched a lot, from the owner(who is outspoken). So i advised the cashier i had a party of 15 to 20 people coming in, the waitress took one look at me and said NO (i could see there were plenty of seats to accommodate, the place was not busy at all), but they refused our service so I left. When some of the group went in 20 minutes later, because of their mix skin color , the cashier nor waitress, did not question them but allowed them to sit and proceeded to serve them, after which the rest of the group decided to join. At that time I over heard the waiter telling the owner that she had previously refused our service, the owner came to the table to to tell us we had to pay20% for coming as a group of more than 6, regardless if our bill was separate. Never in the years have they charged us 20%. This place refused our service because we were a large group of black family. I have always felt the prejudice around this restaurant, but they kept it to themselves for the money. Was never my choice of restaurant, I only ate hear because my family like to gather here small town with very little choices. The food is never that good, they have roaches crawling near the kitchen door and drink area, the drink area is not as clean kept as it should be. I've eaten at many Chinese restaurants, this one is the worst, I've said it every time I go to this place and now that I have had to face the prejudice that comes with it I am posting my review. Nasty food, nasty...
Read moreThere are limited options in Clarksville, but I think Great Wall is one of the best.
Parking: free street parking, plus a parking lot down the block if no street parking is available (rare)
Dining area: NO dine-in, service is takeout only. I think this probably started during Covid but I imagine they’ve kept it that way because it seems so much simpler to just do takeout. It seems like a husband/wife couple owns and runs the place, I would do take-out only too if I was profitable.
Bathrooms: No obvious public restroom
Food: I’ve ordered several things from here over the past year and it’s all been tasty, fresh, hot and good quality. Today I got veggie lo mein and egg drop soup. I love the veg lo mein because it’s full of fresh veggies. The egg drop soup was made fresh when I picked it up. Both items were great today. I’ve also had spring rolls, egg rolls, and king pao chicken here, all were great. Portions are generous. Also, if you like it spicy, ask for some of their chili oil. It’s 🔥 🔥 🔥
Service: The food is always ready really fast. Some reviewers have said the lady who runs the front of the restaurant is rude, I get the feeling it’s just a cultural/language difference. She speaks bluntly but is always polite (please/thank you/have a nice day). I think she manages things super well.
Pricing: This can be so subjective, but I feel like the food is a great value for the cost. For my soup and noodles it was...
Read moreSome of these reviews crack me up LOL. okay, look. We dont have many options for... anything in this town. Some of the people in the area have barely been outside of the county lines, so their experiences are a bit...limited. At BEST, it is average chinese take out fare (hence the 3 stars). It IS however, the best in the AREA (which... isn't saying a whole lot). For anyone who is used to or expecting a higher standard of Chinese or asian food, this will be a disappointment. My ex was Japanese. I know real asian food. LOL. But again, it is the best in the AREA (at least compared to South Hill and Chase City). We only ever do takeout (and thats all they offer currently, so far as I know), so can't speak to dining in experiences or the buffets (but I don't eat at ANY buffet ANYWHERE EVER so I never will know what theirs...
