I booked on Expedia a room for two nights here I was supposed to pay when I got the front desk one the front desk people was all over the place I had cash they made me go put the money on my card because they was tryna charge me a extra 100 for using cash when Expedia didn’t say nothing about that just scheming then when I put the money on my card he tried to charge me a extra 50 once again scheming anyways I told him Ian have the extra he told me I was good and I paid my 224.90 because that’s all I had gets to the room be mindful that this a non smoking hotel and if u do smoke u get charged 250 or sum like that why was there burns on the toilet and the tub had stains that wouldn’t come out one if they was doing what they was supposed to be doing whoever did that should have been charged the 250 and they should have replaced the toilet seat and the tub should have got replaced to not only that the WiFi was out all night and morning but anyways that’s besides the point let me tell you how racist morning staff and the manger is be mindful I paid for two nights why they wake me up 11 inna morning talking about I only paid for one night I goes downstairs the lady at the desk was very weird she goes to tell me I only paid for one night I showed her the Expedia thing I ask to speak to a manger because she’s still tryna tell me I didn’t pay for a second night and we both was getting annoyed with each other the manger took long to come out it took for a Caucasian man to complain about something wrong they was doing but the man also put a false report in because he wanted his money back which I think was weird but that’s what he was asking for they solved that man problem 2.5 just to turn to me and hand me a fake receipt and tell me they couldn’t help me and tried to claim Expedia canceled it after I told the man my name and he pulled it up and charged me for both nights and I had to leave the next morning basically so with that being said of course I started to get upset wit the lady because she’s going to tell me talk gentle and was basically laughing in my face I asked if I showed them the transaction would I be able to keep my room they told me no it doesn’t matter what the transaction says it matters what the receipt say these people is weird and racist imma women of color so for them to ignore me to fix a problem that’s wasn’t even a problem with a Caucasian man that just got there after I was waiting there for over 15-20 mins and the manger immediately came to assist him when I been asking for him and they told me to wait and he was getting there after me is crazy and to take my money is even crazier I will be going to dispute it and if that don’t work out I will be contacting people and getting that...
Read moreThe front desk woman told me straight:||"Each hotel has its policies, and these is our policy - we do not provide early check in or late check out except for one hour. If you want to stay extra, it is $20/hr, even if you are at a diamond level. If other hotels do that, that is their policy, and you can go there."||In other words, though a Diamond level earned its level due to many multiple stays, this Hotel disregards them and their loyalty and basically teaches us to choose a different chain that allows their loyal guests to stay much later, like till 2pm at least.||I have spent $1,000's staying in this chain and reached a diamond level, in order to be able to receive the benefits of early check in and late check out IF AVAILABLE!!!||Therefore, not to be able to check out at 2pm, when there is availability [as Wyndham advertises] unless I pay extra $20/hr OR to be told that: "you already received earlier check in", when it was a 2pm check in, is disgusting and makes me feel unwanted and sad that I use this chain, because they do not follow Wyndham's protocol.||I asked the Hotel to stay longer as long as THERE IS AVAILABILITY, since this is what Wyndham advertises, but was told that I need to pay $20 for every extra hour.||Not only that, but the woman at the front desk made me feel terrible by saying: "you already got early check in", when first of all I am supposed to get it with a greeting being a Diamond member, and second of all, it was after 2pm that we checked in, so what kind of an early check in is it to be told such a statement?||Regarding check out - they allowed me to stay until 12pm, which is what any guest would get regardless of their level. It felt very unfair, that I spent so much being loyal to this chain but not experiencing the benefits that I earned UNLESS I PAY $20/hr.||I delegated a lot of effort to try and explain but was told very clear: "this is our policy, you can go somewhere else"

We recently stayed at Howard Johnson By Wyndham Clifton, NJ and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish.
Booking Issues: We booked a room for six people through a third-party app, selecting a double queen room to accommodate our group. However, the reservation somehow only transferred as two guests. When we explained this to the front desk, they were dismissive and kept showing us a receipt for two guests, ignoring our explanation. They stated they charge per guest over two and basically demanded we book another room for $240—a ridiculous last-minute price. Despite initially offering a discount, they made no effort to help and brushed us off, claiming they were “too busy helping other customers- we told them they have be been to a for over 5 minutes.
Unhelpful and Rude Staff: While deciding whether to book another room, we asked for a short grace period to bring our food upstairs for everyone to eat and figure out what to do. The employee told us that no visitors were allowed, even briefly, but then reluctantly allowed it with the caveat that the two additional guests had to leave in an hour escorted through the lobby. The staff treated us like we were trying to sneak people in rather than accommodating a mistake caused by the booking system.
Adding to the insult, the manager was sitting on a couch in the hallway during this entire ordeal, doing nothing to address the situation, and only pointed us to the elevator.
Room Conditions: Once we got to the room, it was even worse. The heat was cranked up to sauna levels and took hours to cool down. The walls were filthy, the beds were sloppily made with thin, wrinkled sheets, and there were no extra blankets. The comforter was so thin it barely counted as one. The bathroom was disgusting, with an abused tub, grimy drains, and a broken bed base and corner base- there were even blood stains on the bed!!
Unprofessional Behavior: After rushing to eat, we returned to the lobby to check into the second room, only to hear the two employees whispering and talking about us. It was unprofessional and added insult to injury.
Overall: Between the rude staff, poor management, dirty rooms, and overpriced last-minute charges, this was by far the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had. If the weather hadn’t been freezing, we genuinely would’ve preferred sleeping in the car. Avoid this place at all costs—it’s not worth your money, time,...
