Smashburger — Restaurant in Clifton

Visited again here for cheeseburger day. It was buy one get one free. They were way too busy and our Burger took an hour to get. The associates we're having a hard time because of how busy it was and it didn't help that it was Sunday so more people were able to take advantage of the offer. I think however they did the best they could for such a busy day and showed respect to the customer the entire time we were there. I just took it in stride even finding it funny that both myself and another customer had the exact same number with almost the exact same order and city next to each other in separate tables. 😂 But I think all the employees and the manager this time did a really good job handling the stress. 👍 We've been here a few times there they were always good but today we were a bit disappointed. The burgers we had, the Jersey and the Truffle Mushroom were quite salty. The burger taste and the way they were cooked was fine but really too much salt. My wife filled up her soda and was disappointed that there wad no ice. When she mentioned it outto the employee that was just hanging out, he said "you probably didn't push the lever hard enough" but then he tried it and still nothing. Then he said that sometimez the machine takes a while to give out ice. But he didn't keep trying, but instead went back to hanging out behind the counter. Other customers were getting annoyed too and it wasn't till a but lately that he finally sent sunshine to get ice. If that was all that would still be annoying but the fact that we found out it was the manager, named Brian showed a lack of serious interest in keeping his Smash Burger customers happy.

Another employee that came out to talk to us and take our plates after, LeBron was very courteous, taking the time to explain why the burgers that day may have been saltier than usual and showed the genuine concern that one expects when eating out. If I could rate this a zero I would. From my first interaction to my last with staff members here, my experience was unpleasant to say the least. Upon arrival, a member of the staff notified us that the business hours changed from 11pm to 10pm closing, insisting we take our order to go even though it was only 9:15. Needless to say, we chose to dine in. We gave half our order before the staff member stopped to answer a call which seemed like an eternity when trying to order for for several people.

When we received our order, the same staff member severed two separate orders on the same tray singing to the tune of “you don’t mind that they’re on the same tray right?” I’m not sure why the two separate meals couldn’t be served on their own appropriate trays. Maybe it’s me, but I wouldn’t serve my guests on the same plate.

There was also a discrepancy with one of the meals in the order, which this same staff member had been reluctant to do anything about and gave an attitude when insisting she was correct and it was my error in giving the order. Again, maybe it’s me, but when you spend a $50 bill in an establishment, you’d expect a certain level of service but at the very least, respect to the customers.

Unfortunately one bad apple can spoil the bunch and I’ll probably never return here. Burger was good at least, but I was too aggravated at this point to even enjoy it.

Forgot how good this place was. They are clean, cordial. I had the mushroom burger melt and it was delish with fresh fries so did my husband. Kids love their juicy tenders coz it was off the frier it was tasy they said and a gread portion too. Just the down side was the slow push of food to go out. The person pushing orders out seems lost that he had to do a double take on what he was bringing out. There were lines of people waiting for in order and online orders pick ups. There were 2 in the front taking orders and serving. Then 2 people at the kitchen. When we got there there were a line of people placing orders and 5-6people waiting on their orders. Others left the line that were ahead of us because of the wait and seeing theres more waiting on taking gwtting your orders that discouraged them. We would have too but we have time before going to the movies. It was a about 5mins on the line placing orders (thanks to those that left) and another 30-35mins waiting for our food, which an order was missing but we didnt bother to ask anymore because of the wait. I know we are still a pnademic and I maybe they are short staff, but given a fair warning about the wait would've been appreciated.
