My family and I grew up on this diner. The food has always been great, plentiful and the staff has always treated you like family. When they closed down for renovations, we waited, excited to see what kinds of changes would be made. Unfortunately, it was a mistake.
The diner now looks cold and industrial inside. It's no longer warm and friendly, not inviting. There are no longer familiar or even friendly faces greeting you. Everyone looks overwhelmed and stressed out and it seemed as though, even though they had a hiring sign up during the renovations, they're short staffed.
The menu has been cut way down, and we all noticed that the prices went up about 10%. The waiter after taking our order, came back with wrong drinks. It took 35 minutes to get our food, and things were forgotten when the food did come.
For starters, we noticed they cut the portions. Which would be fine if we weren't paying more for less food.
Now, the quality of food that was presented... My aunt ordered a cheese omelet and received literally a flat egg with ONE slice of unmelted cheese inside. My mom ordered her usual chicken salad sandwich, which tasted like Costco chicken salad from the plastic tub. I ordered a simple burger which was a shell of what their burgers used to be.
Waiter never came to check on us or refill our drinks, and getting our check was a three ring circus. We had to ask someone else to ask our waiter to bring us the check. The staff member proceeded to come back with the wrong check twice then our waiter finally came with a check that also wasn't ours before finally coming back with the correct one.
We go to the front to ring up, aunt begins informing the cashier of our issues (couldn't tell waiter he never came back), and she appeared completely annoyed with us and uninterested in what we had to say, didn't apologize or anything, but hey, took off the horrible omelet and sent us packing.
On the upside, the coffee is good. Don't...
Read moreI didn’t want to make a quick review until I did some research. My friends and I went to the Tick Tock diner a little over a week ago. We got a hummus platter, a side of broccoli, 1 soup and a couple sandwiches, plus drinks. Our bill was over $100 dollars. I thought this was too much for the amount of food we ordered. But it did add up correctly. However, for a side of uncooked broccoli, they charged me $10. I was taken back by this and said something. The manager came over and took $1 off. I said do you know how many bushels of broccoli I could buy for $10? She said that prices went up due to inflation. I said I’ve never saw anyone charge that much for a side of uncooked broccoli. She also said she couldn’t do anything more than that. I asked for the owner, she said he wasn’t there, but I know he was. As I paid the bill, I said my same friends and I went to breakfast at the Colonial Restaurant in Fords earlier today and we had more food for a third of the cost of what I’m paying here. Anyway, for the past week, I have went to a few diners and called a couple also. I asked all of them how much a side of broccoli is. They all varied, from the lowest $1.75 to the highest $3.95. But none of them were over $4. The Tick Tock diner does have good food but the prices are ridiculous and the management does not care about the customers. I do understand that things have went up in price, but seriously that was insane. I truly don’t plan on going back there. But if you do go there, make sure you stop by the atm and take out a couple...
Read moreI usually don’t leave reviews unless they are really good or bad. My 2 friends and I just left after having an okay dinner which came up to roughly $80 dollars, somewhat understanding, still a little pricey, however what really made our experience unpleasant was the waiter we had. He didn’t seem in a good mood, and felt as if he was rushing us throughout. We had just sat down, and immediately questioned what we would like, ordered drinks okay, he came back and seemed bothered when we asked for a few minutes to look over the menu to order food as we weren’t ready. Okay. It was a little upsetting to see him drop bill off at the table without us asking or before we even finished but we brushed it off. Based on the check, we quickly looked and assumed gratuity was added. As we are leaving, he loudly looks over and shouts out so everyone in the diner is listening, asking for a tip? Rudely said if the service was bad ( which we said no, when in fact wasn’t very pleasant but we felt bad as everyone was just watching and again assumed it was added to the bill), replied no, saying it was added on the card, gratuity and etc, and he persisted loudly about his tip, and pressured us, so of course being nice we tipped him ( although, honestly he didn’t deserve it especially after that outburst). I promise you, tipping is never an issue especially where credit it due, but should be earned & not immediately expected, as we were rushed through our dinner with bill already handed, and not...
