Review for Quality Inn – Columbia, Missouri
Our recent experience at this Quality Inn was extremely disappointing, unprofessional, and discriminatory. We had booked an additional three nights, only to receive a call the following day informing us we were no longer allowed to stay. The reason given was that my husband, who is a traveling nurse, came down with a stomach virus. Before arriving at this hotel, we were both in perfectly good health. Given the poor conditions of the property, it is no surprise that he became sick here. Rather than handling the situation with compassion or professionalism, management decided without any warning to have us leave, giving us less than an hour to vacate the room—on Labor Day weekend, no less—leaving us scrambling to find alternative lodging.
When we questioned why this decision was made, we even asked if it had to do with us being gay. Shockingly, the front desk staff confirmed that this was the case. This kind of treatment is not only unprofessional but discriminatory and unacceptable for a hotel under a national brand.
Beyond this incident, the property itself is poorly managed and neglected. The ice machine is out of order, the laundry machines are out of order, and the cleaning service is questionable at best. Additionally, staff often bring their children to work, who run up and down the hallways stomping and making loud noises—further adding to the unprofessional atmosphere.
Cheap pricing should never come at the expense of respect, professionalism, and basic hospitality. Unfortunately, this property fails on all fronts. I will be following up with the corporate office regarding both the unacceptable behavior of the management team and the discriminatory treatment we faced.
I strongly advise anyone considering a stay here to...
Read moreWe rented this hotel for our 11U baseball team and their families. We checked in on a Thursday Afternoon 1 1/2 hours before check in time. Check in went smoothly, the girl at the desk was very nice. Even though there were 9 people in line to check in she was quick and efficient. We ordered pizza for our WHOLE team and their families and they let us eat in the lobby area. Friday morning breakfast was good we ate on the go due to our game schedule. They allowed us to use their lobby each day to prepare lunch and dinner for our team and never complained once. (We were a BIG group). The TV in my room was broken the first night, I didn't realize it until it was bed time, I told the lady at the desk the next morning. They fixed it that evening. At first they were unsure what was wrong with it and offered to move our room or give us the key to watch the TV and stay put. (I have 2YO twin girls and moving would have been a pain I think she realized that) Tv was fixed prior to bed time that evening. Friday and Saturday they let our boys swim past pool closing time. We used all their towels more then once in a days period. Housekeeping couldn't keep up with our group but worked their buts off. They were very respectful and wanted to give the boys a room to hang out in and always asked before entering said room. (The boys were wild at times). We had a really great experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone. ALL the staff were very nice and professional. They were also very laid back and allowed our boys to have a GREAT experience together. BIG thanks to the blonde girl that worked the morning shift, The Brown haired young man that worked the evening shift and to Sherry for all your help. You guys...
Read moreThe front desk clerk did not have us staying for 2 nights - good thing I had my confirmation print out. Thank God the linens were clean. The room was dated, table laminate had separated from the table itself, toilet seat was disgusting ($10 for a new toilet seat), shower surround walls were poorly sealed, escutcheon in the shower was detached (water behind wall?), shower curtain had hair all over it; (which they told me that Choice Hotels has now decided NOT to put the insert in the shower curtain, bathroom door was so badly scratched that it revealed the previous paint color, shower pressure was terrible (half the water still ran from the faucet during showering), closet door was hung crooked (I was waiting for it to fall off the track), light by the closet door was burned out (or maybe there was no bulb?), tub was "dirty". As a final comment about our stay - the level of overall cleanliness for this hotel is a direct reflection on the owners - if it smells, just spray so heavy-duty deodorizer - halls smelled disgusting. I could go on. I read the reviews of the hotel on our way down - they weren't that great - so for the next 3 hours I was concerned about what I was going to walk into. Thank you for not disappointing me. And because of this stay - my husband and I will NO LONGER BE CHOOSING Choice Hotels (unless there are no other options). Your hotel has tainted my opinion of ALL Choice Hotels as I no longer have confidence in your level of...
