Personalized Computers — Local services in Columbia Township

Do NOT take your business to Personalized Computers. I have done business with them twice now and have been extremely dissatisfied both times. After the first time, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and did not know where else to go anyway, but after the second time I will never do business with them again. When you bring your computer to them, they will promise you a quick turn around. However, they will then set your computer aside and not work on it for several days at all. I was promised on a Friday that I would have my computer by Wednesday. On Tuesday, they still had not even looked at it and on Wednesday the work was not yet begun. I had to pay $35 to get my computer back from them even though they had not done any work. Instead, I found PC Avenue on Grindstone which was able to do the same repair in 3 hours and get it back to me the same day. If you need work done on your computer, do NOT go to Personalize Computers and instead go to PC Avenue.

EDIT IN REPLY TO OWNER: When I brought my PC in for repair, I specifically asked about the estimated time and WAS PROMISED that it would be done within about 3 days. I made sure to ask you about your current work and whether there would be any back log of work that would push back the time for my repair. Further, the claim that I came in a half hour before my computer would have been completed is an absolute joke. When I chose to take my computer it was because you had not even ordered the necessary part. I was still going to have to wait for you to order the part, have it shipped, and THEN have the work completed, which at that time you told me would take at least 2 weeks. I urge anyone reading my review to not have the wool pulled over their eyes...

Extremely unprofessional. Asked them to convert about 40 CD's worth of pictures from an out of date file format to something more easily utilized (i.e. .jpeg) and then transfer these pictures onto an external hard drive that I provided. This was to be a Christmas present for my mom. While it seemed like they were less than enthusiastic about the task, informing me that they would work on it in between other jobs when they could, they had done decent work for me once before and I figured two months was a long enough period of time for them to finish. I called them the week of Christmas to see if the task was complete. They were still finishing it up. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to pick the hard drive up until today. They hadn't even done what I asked! They transferred the files from the disks to the external hard drive but didn't complete the most important part, converting them to an easy to use file type. Useless. I could have transferred the pictures myself. I was having trouble converting them. They admitted they didn't finish the task they were hired to do. Didn't even seem embarassed, remorseful, ashamed, nothing. The guy who checked me out said I could just buy them lunch for transferring the files. I should have paid them nothing, but they completed half the job so I paid them half of the money. I will never be going to Personalized...

Took my Surface Pro 3 here after it died the first day of class. After a long attempt at repairing it, turns out the hard drive and motherboard were fried and nothing short of sending it back to Microsoft could fix it. The flat rates are extremely nice, since the amount of time they spent on my tablet would have cost a ton if I had taken it to a place that charges hourly.

They lose a star because I was initially told it would take 1-2 days to run diagnostics and it ended up taking a week. When I complained I was told there had been 15 other computers in front of mine, which is fine but I would have preferred an accurate time estimate to begin with. Am also disappointed they don't sell 2-in-1's, as I would have loved to buy a replacement from them and support a small business.

Overall I would recommend. They do great work, are very patient at explaining issues, and don't try to gouge you for price. Just make sure to ask for an accurate...
