After our long flight and arrival in Georgia from Honolulu, the most immediate need we had was for a restful and restorative place to stay. Fortunately, we were able to book a room at this lovely, charm-filled hotel. Emme was the first person we encountered when we checked into this gorgeously reimagined space. She was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and demonstrated outstanding customer service with every single interaction over the course of our stay. In a time when reviews are readily available for every small service or product, I will happily sing the praises of both the staff and the presence of this hotel. Our stay was magical.
Whoever was responsible for renovating and conceptualizing this former mill as a possible hotel had exceptional imagination and attention to detail; the love this staff has put into the care of this building as a repurposed space is evident and, as a result, it has continued to be maintained to the highest standards by the current employees. The rooms were exceedingly comfortable. I could not have imagined any amenity that was missing. We experienced the best sleep either of us can ever remember having after suffering from jet lag, since we traveled so far away from home on a red eye flight. And with the amount we travel, since nearly everywhere in the world is at a great distance from home, the quality of sleep we experienced during our stay at this hotel alone speaks volumes about the quality of the rooms, the comfort of the beds, the air quality of the interiors, the peacefulness of the environment, etc. We are so very spoiled to live where we live, but we were also so very grateful for such a overwhelmingly positive experience at this hotel. Mahalo nui loa for making it feel like home.
All of the staff, but most especially Emme, made our vacation away from home feel like a staycation with the level of friendliness, kindness, and aloha demonstrated by everyone with whom we interacted.
Wish I could give this hotel a seven...
Read moreWe were blown away by the service and beauty at this new boutique hotel! The attention to detail in the interiors was fantastic-incorporating reclaimed wood and elements of the old mill into a fresh design with modern, yet cozy, colors. The exposed brick in our room was particularly charming. Our room was outfitted with a large TV, a google nest hub, a refrigerator, and a nespresso. There was also a cappuccino and coffee machine downstairs in the breakfast area to suit coffee needs. We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel, but we’re pleasantly surprised by a complimentary continental spread. The bathroom was wonderfully appointed with high end fixtures and a dual rain and handheld shower heads. We brought our dog for our stay and the hotel left a darling goody bag in the room for him upon arrival as well as a custom pottery dog bowl for use during our stay. The hotel staff even made a point of remembering my dog’s name and greeting him when we walked through the lobby, which was so charming. There is a large grassy right outside the hotel with a doggy bag station for walking. The hotel is also right on the river walk, which connects it to the downtown district. The river walk was a highlight of our stay-perfect for walking a dog. It is well-paved and has a beautiful view of the river while you walk to town. Certainly our preferred means of transit during our stay. Overall, I would (and have to family and friends) highly recommend a stay at City Mills. Charming and fresh accommodations, a convenient and quiet location-right on the river, and unbeatable service made for a...
Read moreI'm not able to give a full review as I went there for a breakfast meeting with a guest staying there. As I approached the hotel turning off second avenue I crossed an abandoned railroad track and the crumble remains of first avenue and straight into the parking lot. Being my first visit I was looking around for the main entrance and observed there was very little in the way of landscaping and no other structures other than the two brick cubes that comprise the hotel. This gave me an overall impression of starkness and isolation. Both the exterior and interior is what you would expect of an old mill, brick. To access the main entrance you need to navigate a metal staircase to an elevated deck. It had been raining that morning and I felt I needed to exercise some caution on the steps. The lobby is cheery and bright with dark wood tones in the furnishing and floors. The breakfast area consists of a seating area with bare tables and utilitarian chairs occupying a space about 15'x20'. The other portion of the breakfast area is an "L" shape set up for food service. One portion of the L is dominated by a high tech coffee machine that offers a variety of coffee styles at the push of a button. If you have ever gotten coffee out of a vending machine you know the problem is machines are slow and can only serve one person at a time. Not what you want if you're in a hurry to get out the door and do things. The breakfast offered can only be described as continental style. If my friend makes a return visit I hope he chooses other...
