||I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue I encountered during a recent stay at the Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus Fairgrounds. Despite multiple attempts to address the situation with the hotel management and Wyndham's corporate office, I have received no response or resolution.||||On July 27, 2024, I checked into the Days Inn with my family. Upon arrival, I noticed dirt in our room, which I immediately reported to the front desk. We were attending an event at the nearby fairgrounds, so after reporting the issue, we left for the event. When we returned to the hotel later that evening, we placed our belongings in the room and went out again to explore the city.||||Upon returning later that night, my sister mentioned that she heard noises coming from under the bed. When I investigated, I discovered a disturbing sight—a rat or mouse nest under the bed. The mattress was resting on a metal frame, and it was clear that the area had not been properly cleaned or inspected before our stay.||||I have tried repeatedly to contact both the hotel management and Wyndham's corporate office to report this health and safety concern and seek a resolution. Unfortunately, I have not received any response. This lack of communication is unacceptable, especially considering the potential health risks posed by the presence of rodents in a guest room.||||Given the severity of the situation and the unresponsiveness of the hotel and Wyndham, I believe this issue warrants public attention. I have photos documenting the condition of the room and the presence of the rodent nest, which I can provide upon request.||||I am reaching out to your station in the hope that you can help bring awareness to this issue and hold those responsible accountable. The public has a right to know about the conditions at this property and the potential health risks involved in staying there||||I also reached out to the health department and got the runaround, but I still am on the spot to pay that bill over $150 and we left and came back to Youngstown the same night at 3 o’clock in the morning||||Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and am available to provide further I also reached out to the health department and got the runaround, but I still am on the spot to pay that bill over $150 and we left and came back to...
Read morePerfect location for a concert at the fairgrounds, but clearly a "two star hotel" and the owners don't seem to have any aspirations to be anything but that.
Our room (116): There was something (mold? I didn't look too closely) and a forgotten yogurt cup in the fridge. The sink faucet was not attached/caulked to the sink surface. The toilet ran all night (but at least closing the door kept the noise out of the room).
Parking: very easy! Even though the fair was going on and we were worried fairgoers would start using the lot for free parking, that didn't seem to happen. A parking placard from the front desk let law enforcement know we belonged there.
Service: even though "breakfast" was included, we skipped it both mornings we were there. The front office is way tiny, only room for about 6-8 people to sit and eat at a time. (There are SO many great places to go for breakfast in Cbus, so I recommend getting good food elsewhere. There's even a McDonald's right next door.) Only one computer, it seems, to check guests in, so the line was just out the door when we arrived; took about 10-15 minutes to check in.
Cleanliness/Comfort: room was clean (besides the fridge...), the sheets as well. The king bed we had was comfortable and we slept pretty well. AC worked well and kept the room cool. Some alarm went off randomly burn nights we were there... No idea what it was; staff never said anything, and it never went off long enough to cause US alarm. (It was like, "an alarm? I wonder what that's fo-- oh, it stopped...")
Strangely, when we came back to the room after our first night, both our cards were not working to open the room! We went to the office to resolve the issue, but the line to check in was well out the door..! Probably 10 people/groups waiting to check in... I slipped in to the front and, after the clerk finished his current check in I quickly explained the problem. He dealt with it immediately (thankfully), but only asked my room number and gave me new cards. (No ID check or anything... )
We picked this place because of it's proximity to the fairgrounds; while it was really convenient for that, I can't say I'd stay there again, especially if things...
Read moreI wish I could give this place 0 stars. I booked this "hotel" (I use that term extremely loosely) because it was walking distance to a local music festival me and my friend were attending. And look, we weren't looking for a luxury experience by any means - but what we got was completely unsatisfactory. We were in disbelief at how awful this place was.
Upon arriving at our room at 11PM, we noticed that the bathroom had not been cleaned. There was a dirty bar of soap in the corner of the tub, hair on the walls, and the shower was wet like it had recently been used.
The floor was filthy, I got into bed and the bottom of my socks were black. I don't think it had been so much as swept prior to our arrival. Wallpaper peeling, rusted metal on the doorframes, and On top of that, my bed squeaked and groaned with every movement, so I woke up about once an hour every night. There was also a sizable hole in the wall behind my bed and stains on the linens. I went to store some minor valuables in the safe, and it was inoperable.
The next morning I went down to the front desk to see if anything could be done. The manager on duty was dismissive and rude, literally asking me "what do you want me to do about that?". Excuse me??? He also told me that any issues with cleanliness of the room should be taken up with the housekeeping company, not them. Apparently, they cannot take accountability for how disgusting their own establishment is. The only consolation he could offer was a room change that very instant, which we declined.
The few pros: plentiful free parking, decent free wifi, AC was nice and cold.
My advice? Spend the extra $100 to stay...
