I recently wrote an excellent review for Columbia, TN. I was excited to hear of a full service hotel in Cookeville, TN. I was really hoping to write another great view. Unfortunately, that is NOT the case! Upon arrival the desk was pleasant, I had to ask for our welcome bag. We went to our room, then up to restaurant. We had great, friendly service even though they were really busy.. Food & drinks were very good. Actually ate there 3 times with same experience. Returned to our room, started unpacking noticed the tissue box had toothpaste on the top.Hair on the floor in several spots. They didn't appear to have been cleaned, The shelf inside the shower had a black buildup in the corner, I took pics of both of spots. The next morning when leaving 2 housekeepers were in the hall by our door. We asked them to please leave bedsheets as I had spilled coffee on the bed & removed the wet ones to the floor. They were very pleasant & said they would. When we arrived back to our room about 10pm. No bedding was left. My husband & I both went to front desk where no one was around, no sign was out. We waited about 5 min when "Kellie" appeared. We asked about the bedsheets we had requested from staff. She rudely told us we missed the cutoff time for housekeeping. "I don't know what to tell you". Then she wanted the names of housekeepers we spoke to. We didn't know the names. I said can we just get clean sheets, we will replace them ourself. She rudely walked away, to get sheets. My husband said to me "why is she being so rude". When she returned with the sheets & "attitude" I asked to speak with her manager. She said she doesn't have one. I said "well that explains why you are acting this way. I will be writing a review to your corporate office". Her response was "Go ahead, write away, I don't care what you write or what you say". KELLIE THEN proceeded to tell us that "I can call the Non-emergency line for the police & have you thrown out!" To say we were completely shocked by how we were treated by Kellie is an understatement!! We have NEVER been spoken to so rudely or disrespected by someone in the service industry!! Even threatening to call the police!!! We are both in our late 60's & travel often for business & leisure. This has never been our experience with you before. I will not share this review AT THIS TIME to other travel sites. I hope to hear back from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe premium room is spacious and well appointed. There are plenty of USB plugs and I think I saw a C type plug as well but I didn't have my C type cord with me at the time to verify. However, it does appear that there is some waisted space with the premium room. Perhaps a sofa would do it well? Then you could call it a junior suite. The hotel is nice and clean and the staff was accommodating.
There are certainly some growing pains as with a new facility and it appears that the locals have added to some issues there. The initial clerk had a difficult time with the system taking my card as she had little training and needed assistance of others. If you live within a 50-mile radius you are subject to a $500 hold on top of the room rate. No doubt to a party gone awry.
The rooftop restaurant, Club 1091 or whatever it is actually called, is nice looking and the breakfast was good. I did not have dinner there but a I did have a late night desert. I recommend the apple crisp. Great presentation and a nice view of the Cumberland Plateau to boot. The seating is a little uncomfortable but it is aesthetically pleasing. The seat back on the booth seating is deep and it is a little uncomfortable. In looking at the seating over at the tables it appears that the table may have narrow legs making foot placement a little awkward. The bartender/server did have two dine and dashers screw him over just before I got there. There was also a guy that was in the midst of passing out at the bar. The bartender did a good job with rousing the guy without turning the dude into a mean drunk.
Two minor details that did not lower the rating but merely an observation. First they have a door that has dedicated key card access to the rooms on the fifth floor where I was staying but the door was either wide open or the keycard system was not activated. Just curious as to go to the trouble of installing the system but not using it. No big deal.
The other issue was it appears that my key card was deactivated prior to the official check out time. Luckily I did not close the door fully (by accident) or I would have had to make a trip to the lobby.
I did enjoy a swim in the indoor pool. It may have been over chlorinated, however.
Overall I recommend this facility in Cookeville as it is clean, well-appointed has neat little features and a nice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed one night a couple of months ago and I honestly wish I had asked for a refund or disputed the charges with my credit card. We won't be back and we will not recommend this hotel to others. The only reason we selected this hotel was the restaurant and pool, both of which were unavailable during our short stay.
We stopped around 5PM to ask for a room, and we immediately noticed that there were kids camped out everywhere in the lobby. The person at the front desk appeared to be watching or babysitting them, because they were giving the kids instructions or directions like they personally knew them. We were told that there was only one room left, and I paid nearly double the price I was quoted online.
We paid nearly $300 to stay in a tiny room right next to the lobby, no water or coffee available anywhere in the room or hotel. We wanted to use the pool but unfortunately, the pool was so crowded it could have been a fire marshal violation. There was even people sitting in chairs outside the building, watching the kids in the pool because the room was so packed. It seemed like they had either rented the pool out to a group or an employee was having some kind of party there. Either way, they should have informed us about this BEFORE we spent an insane amount of money to stay here to RELAX.
The next morning, we got up early to use the pool and we were told that it was unavailable because it was "being cleaned." We then inquired about breakfast and were told the restaurant isn't open on Sunday mornings. Like...what? You do realize that most people do weekend getaways on ... the weekend, right?
Nothing about this place makes sense. It's literally the least relaxing place I've ever been š And you can forget getting any real work done...
