"BEWARE THEY COME IN YOUR ROOM" We were moving to NC. We stopped after midnight. My young son wanted breakfast at 8, so we walked to BK a few businesses over. Meanwhile, my husband showered and then came and picked us up and drove us straight back. I had planned on going back to bed. If you're a mom, you know what every bit of sleep is worth, especially during moving across multiple states. The uhaul was there the whole time. They came in our room and took our stuff and said "the room was empty, so they assumed we checked out already". Mitch was very little help in getting our stuff, he mocked me for wanting to go back to sleep and he kept saying we checked out because our car left, but the uhaul was still there and my husband was barely gone. Maybe 10 minutes but absolutely no more than 20 bc I already had the food and hubby walked in grabbed the breakfast sandwich and filled up his drink and we went back. Mitch should've known bc when we checked in, we had a whole discussion about moving and driving the uhaul. Also, We were waiting on family to meet us at 10:45 and checkout is 11 so we would've been out on time anyway. So we stayed out in the parking lot until our family got there. I asked him to check the cameras and tell us when we checked out because we didn't go to the office. What we ended up doing is handing our key cards to the room attendants as they were cleaning the room bc I didn't know what else to do. Walking into finding my room striped and housekeeping standing there was very startling and confusing. I thought maybe my husband had packed up my stuff, which was unusual, but he had grabbed his own stuff and put it in the car, so it wasn't immediately realized that my stuff was missing. It was a total headache. Don't stay there unless you remove everything when you're out of the room. And Mitch does not understand the basic way to do business. At my own job, I have had to apologize for mistakes my employees have made. I really was bothered by how Mitch wouldn't work with us. It was a simple mistake but how he wouldn't be reasonable and kept insisting that we checked out when we had not and kept insisting the room was empty of personal items was very frustrating after admitting they did find 1 thing that was my dead grandmother's. As for anything else,...
Read moreI was exhausted from an 53 hour road trip from my home in the Nahanni Valley in Canada. I was passing through Corbin and saw this hotel. It was listed as a haunted house on Google reveiw, so I wanted to see why. I pulled in and immediatly had a bad feeling about this place. I was too tired to try to find another place so I got a room and headed to it. The door opend by itself, and I was greeted by tv static. I thought the previous person had just left the tv on so I tried turning it off, only to find the remote wouldn't work. I unplugged the TV and crashed in the bed. I was awoken around 12:30 to the entire bed shaking. The covers were then promptly ripped off me and I was plungged into the coldest room I have ever had the displeasure of being in. A sudden knock from the door made me jump about twenty feet. I crept to the door and slightly opened it, making sure the chain stayed on. "You got any nitequill?" A tall, gangly man asked. I couldn't make out his face because of the street lamp backlighting him. "No?" I replied, still shaking from the bed. I closed the door in the man's face, making it clear I wasn't going to be the one to give the man a means to be high. I heard another knock. "You atleast got 15 bucks?" I jared the door open so I could tell this man off, but no one was there. I slammed the door and turned back around. I froze as I heard a skittering noise come from the floor on opposite side of the bed. Around the bed came scurring the man who had just asked for money. I ripped open the door and ran back to my car. I peeled out of there. Never coming back,...
Read moreTo be honest, 1* motels are not usually my preference but based on positive reviews, I prebooked a room as a place to stay while travelling from West Virginia to Cumberland Falls, KY (and other nearby attractions) then on to Birmingham, AL. The motel is right off of I-75 not too far from Cumberland Falls. We arrived at 2:45 pm (check-in is 3:00 pm) and the front door was locked. A sign on the outside window said "helping in another area please call xxx number to check in". I called the number and the front desk clerk answered and immediately came to check me in. I could tell that she had run from a ways away and had probably been helping clean rooms. She was very apologetic (which wasn't necessary given that she had left a sign with instructions). Our room was newly renovated and VERY VERY clean, as well as large and roomy. Zero carpet, which was a plus since hotel/motel carpet is so gross!! Not something I would normally comment on but... the water pressure in the shower was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. After a long day of hiking it felt great. Our room was on the 1st floor and there was a front door parking spot(s) right in front of our exterior door. There was also a "back' door in the room that connected to an interior hallway that went to the ice machine. Nearby there are at least 10 places to eat and if you eat at the Santa Fe Mexican restaurant next door, then you get 10% off. Would definitely...
