Best Westerners are older hotels that have been redone. I am sure that I stayed in this same hotel decades ago when our children were little. The owners have done a marvelous job of refurbishing this older place and totally modernized it. It's actually very nice for the price. ||We got a king room so it was spacious and comfortable. As we walked in, the first thing I noticed was it has plank flooring, so no carpet. There was a settee on the side which a person could have slept on. The lighting was very contemporary and I really liked the way it made the room feel modern. The sink and toilet/shower areas are separated. The sink area was attractive with a nice backlit mirror of a good size. Very modern sink and countertop in black. Small Kerig for coffee. ||A very large TV with decent channels. ||The bathroom was small but very clean and comfortable to use. The showerhead gives a full blast of hot water. ||The only drawback was the sheets. If the bed linens would have been a little better I would given this a five star. The fiber of the sheets had roughed up and for me that is a problem. Another person might not notice this, but for me when I crawled under the sheets, it was a HUGE disappointment. ||The bed slept okay, my husband said he thought it was the best bed we had slept on in our three nights of travel. The pillows were small but they too slept okay. ||The AC kept the room cool, and it has enough noise to make a soft comfortable white noise. The outside lightening is pretty bright creeping in the windows. I always travel with something to cover my eyes, because you never know what kind of lights are going to be hotels rooms. There were a lot of people in the hotel that night but we didn't hear any noise from anyone. It was a very quiet room. ||Breakfast was very good. It is served in a small space which I suspect gets very crowded at times, but we had plenty of room. They served poached eggs, sausage, plus biscuits and gravy. All very good. There was a good selection of cereal, a waffle making machine and a variety of breads. A good coffee machine. Plus, all the other things that go with breakfast. This was a better breakfast than what we have gotten the previous two mornings. ||I can highly recommend this hotel, other than the sheets, this was a comfortable stay. It was kind of a retro kind of experience for me, but the owners have done...
Read moreI left an article of clothing at this best western and that just so happened to be a 500.00 Harley Davidson Jacket handed down from a relative that passed away. When I called at 9:40pm the moment I realize I had left the re woman in the office was rude, refused to look in the lost and found and refused to look in the room bc they had already booked another guest in the room, when asked to call the room she said she wouldn't at that time. Really? way to take care of your guest. Then I politely asked if I could call the room and she said no, and that she wouldn't check until 11 tomorrow at checkout! so seeing how I was staying at the Shelbysville Kentucky best western location that same night I asked the man at this front desk what he would do, he said he would call the room apologizing for the inconvenience but still would ask him, so after explaining it all to him and that I plan to right a bad review for the service I received he went ahead and called down and spoke with the same woman explaining that this wasn't a unreasonable thing to ask for at that time of night. And that if she would transfer him to the room he would take responsibility from his location for if he woke the guest up totally taking it off there shoulders and she still said no. He was shocked and I'm pissed, I was very very disappointed with the way I was treated at that location and will never be staying there again, but I just will give the best western in staying at now a 5 star for putting the guest first. DONT GO TO THIS MOTEL. Plenty others in Corbin Kentucky that will treat you like a guest...
Read moreWe look for inexpensive hotel/motels so we have "seen it all". We did not have a reservation and were ready to stop for the night in Corbin. The attractive Best Western on the hill beckoned to us. We were pleased that they had a room on the first level with a king bed at the back of the hotel. The room was beautifully renovated. An interesting touch was wood or wood-like flooring, it felt so much cleaner than carpet. This was a very clean room, we saw not one insect at all or dirt. Everything in it was new and updated. If you are put off by the decor that mimics the surrounds--rustic country--you will be pleasantly surprised at the more modern decor of the rooms. (assuming they have all been updated). We now carry many more devices needing an electrical outlet and the updating of this room provided many of these plus USB ports. Everything was in working order. One reviewer commented on the water pressure. They have the strongest water pressure I've ever experienced. The shower spray is very strong but not uncomfortable. The sink faucet needed a better aerator for the pressure because the water came roaring out splashing everywhere when first turned on because we did not expect such pressure. The only close to a down side. Almost forgot breakfast--amazing, hot breakfast including gravy, biscuits (my husband said eggs which I didn't see), Golden Malted Waffle maker which is becoming rare and many other...
