The staff here was friendly on arrival, and everything worked in the room which, sadly, is not true of most upscale hotels I’ve stayed in. I have had many bad experiences at Super 8 motels, but circumstances left me no choice but to stay here one night. I saw one adult small brown-banded cockroach and a baby when I turned on the bathroom light. An hour later there was another, wriggling in the toilet. I slept poorly all night, twitching at every imagined crawling bug on me. Roaches travel throughout buildings, so clearly the entire hotel has an infestation. It's hard to believe that other guests and cleaning staff have not reported the problem.I asked for a discount but given the problem and the trouble I had to go through, I should have had my entire bill erased. The room did not smell fresh; rather, it has an odor I can only best describe as having been used often by people and not cleaned properly ( not a bad odor, just one of human occupancy, if that makes sense). I wonder if the top bed cover is laundered between guests. I can think of no other explanation, unless linens are washed with an insufficient amount of detergent to save money. The hallway carpeting is very old, tattered and dirty, and I was so glad that the room flooring was wood panels. For obvious reasons, I did not take advantage of the free breakfast. Before leaving, I shook out every item before packing it in my suitcase, like I did years ago as a public health nurse in a poor rural community where roach infestations were common. I honestly don’t know how one can be assured if or when a hotel has ever been treated for cockroaches. When I reported them to the desk staff, they apologized but mostly turned away and walked away from the desk, whispering to themselves at length. This clearly indicated that there was more to this than me being the first guest to report this. I asked for a discount and they said they'd speak with management. I should have demanded I not be charged at all. If you ever do choose to stay there, the Whitley County Public Health Department should be contacted for assistance. Follow up: I received an email telling me that I was refunded $7.78 for my trouble with cockroaches; 10% of my bill. This was laughable, so I'm going to escalate this to the corporate level, where I expect the matter will get more attention. For anyone reading this who would suggest I should've asked for another room, I considered that but only briefly. I didn't mention above that one of the adults I saw ran through a crack in the bathroom wall while I was trying to kill it. There's no room in that hotel that could be considered "roach-free". The fact that I saw 3, and the appearance of a baby roach confirm that there's lots of active breeding going on. I'm grossed out at the thought that there's a good possibility there were some crawling in bed with me that night with the lights out.

We arrived on Saturday, 9 October, and checked in to our room, located it then moved the car to the closest door to bring in our belongings. After bringing them up, we immediately left to visit our son in Barbourville where he attends college. We spent the day and early evening with him. After returning him to his dorm, we came back to our room at around 7:45 pm. The reason I selected this hotel was to treat my wife to a jacuzzi room. However, we were unable to use it. The tub had not been cleaned in obviously quite a long while. It was dirty to the touch and filled with various debris, to include hair. My wife went back downstairs to get cleaning supplies from the front desk to clean it herself. This alone is wrong, I do not pay for a room that we must clean ourselves and she had to clean on this tub for 30-40 minutes. After returning the cleaning supplies, we filled the tub with water. When the water was ready, the jets were turned on and the tub was then filled with debris from the filthy jets. One of the pictures attached is of debris scooped out from the water after the jets were turned on. After this occurred, she drained the tub and her foot left a very dirty print at the bottom of the tub where the floors had not even been mopped! This all was recorded in the log from the attended that evening. We settled on taking a shower instead. The tub there was filthy as well and there was mold on the shower curtain. Attached pictures also show this as well as another photo of hair on the bathroom floor where it had not been cleaned either. Further complaints include a line of dead bugs next to the bed and previous occupants belongings left on the drawer shelf that had not been removed further confirming that this room does not get cleaned. If it was not already as late in the evening as it was, we would have NOT stayed. We left as early as we could the morning of the 10th.

Room was decent for the price, but they charge extra for non smoking so we ended up in a smoking room that smelled like cigars. I wouldn't recommend using the washer and dryer on site, 6 bucks and my clothes were still drenched. Also the front of the fridge was disgusting and looked like it had never been wiped down. You are close to a cheap buffet so thats nice. The free breakfast is just granola bars, cereal, coffee and juice. No hot foods or waffles. Oh and if you have a pet they charge $15 dollars per night per pet.

It was awful and I've stayed in many Super 8 hotels in many states and Jackson Mississippi has alot of run down or not properly cared for hotels but I stayed at the Super 8 in Jackson recently for a few months while I was away for work and it was a 1000 time better experience than one night in the Corbin Kentucky rooms my family and I got 2 rooms and the first thing I found inconsiderate was we have small children and a baby in a carseat we have to carry our rooms were all the way on the 3rd floor we struggle looking for an elevator only to find out there isn't one! We get in the rooms they were double rooms with 2 beds they were extremely small and the cleanliness was questionable. One of the first things we see while My Granddaughter is exploring under the beds is a empty bottle of body wash. The next thing we notice is there is no microwaves in the room, which was a big inconvenience being that we are on the third floor and had to warm bottles and food for the kids. At this point we are highly aggregated but realize we want be able to get a refund because we had been there an hour or so already. Little did we know our nightmare had only just begun. A little later while I was showering it was just myself and my 7 year old granddaughter in the room I put the chain on the door, which was the only good thing I seen about the place, and tell her to watch T.V. and play while I shower. There is the right amount of linen in the bathroom but some of the towels are stained and I feel that stained towels in a hotel should be thrown away you just don't want to see that stuff. Anyway this is the part that was mindblowing and scary. I come out of the bathroom to find that my granddaughter had rolled the chair over to the window and began to open it about 2 inches. Thank God I came out when I did I don't even want to think about anything else. At this point I just want to go to sleep!!! I forgot to mention that when I took a shower I turned on the vent in the bathroom and left it running you will see the importance of me saying this shortly. But yeah BED All we want now is to get a good nights rest there had been an awful snow storm and our electric was off at home hence why we rented the rooms to have a comfortable and warm place to sleep while our home was put back in working order. So I lay my granddaughter down in one of the beds and I proceed to climb into my bed and I'm ever so ready to rest I pull the throw back to find I don't only not have a actual cover under the throw, but I also do not have a fitted sheet! I'm so tired and aggravated at this point to replace the linen I would have to walk all the way down stairs to get them from the front desk, or call and wait for someone to bring the proper bedding I am already in my night gown and decide it's too much trouble that I would have to get dressed again and either walk a mile to do someone else's job or get dressed again and wait an unknown amount of time for someone to come to my room and do it right, so I just crawl in between the one loose sheet I have and the throw and begin to unwind my daughter comes back with food for everyone and when she comes in and walks in the bathroom she is nearly knocked down by the smell! She said my goodness mom are you O.K. and waves her hand in front of her face. I told her no one had been to the bathroom and she laughed at me! I told her I was serious so she asked what could the smell be. The bathroom door had been shut so before she opened the door the smell was contained to the bathroom by this time with the door open I begin to smell it too. Instantly I recognize the smell and it is mildew! We all know that is very dangerous I investigate the bathroom but nothing is in eye sight but the smell is terrible it is really really strong and throughout the whole room. I turn off the vent and highly consider leaving at this point and finding another room. But it's to late. Last but not least my daughter goes to get ice. The ice machine is out of order. For goodness sake Super 8 Corbin KY get...

Do yourself a favor and spend an extra $20 or $30 and go to a different hotel. I saw very quickly why I got this room so cheap. The hotel is crammed in with gas stations and auto parts stores and a very busy intersection. Found check-in, and we were the only ones there, no staff to be seen. I rang the bell 3 different times, and finally, an employee peeked through the hallway and saw us, Then went and got the appropriate check in person. She came to the counter and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to check us in. The bill was aslo more than what we had booked it for. We found our room and had to scan the card 5 or 6 times before it recognized it. (This didn't happen again, thankfully.) We open the door and instantly the smell of urine and weed flooded out. Walk in, and it looked like someone had eaten a few packs of crackers or something on the comforter because it was covered in food crumbs. Open up the window to see what was near us, and all we can see is the dumpsters and a few people that may or may not have been homeless hanging out behind the hotel. Bed was super uncomfortable, and pillows seemed like they were dollar tree brand. Thankfully we only would be there a couple hours before leaving for the event we came to town for. We go to our event and got back to the hotel later that night. People were everywhere around the building and I probably got the pleasure of directly inhaling every brand of cigarettes sold. Got to our room quickly and tried to clean up some before bed. Multiple outlets didn't work, the toilet sounded like it was creating a portal to hell when you flushed it, if you wanted AC on your had to also deal with the smell of weed and cigarettes. We finally get to sleep but got woke up alot from homeless people outside our window, different lights kept shining in, people in other rooms yelling the entire night, etccc. Got up early to try and get some of the complimentary breakfast that was advertised. Didn't have high expectations because the breakfast is usually always the same at most hotels. It was the most lacking hotel breakfast I've ever seen. We then decided to get packed up and leave as quickly as possible and go get our own breakfast. Different host at the counter this time, not as bad as the first person but not good either. I was waiting for them to ask the generic "did you enjoy your stay ?" That never came, which is probably a good thing. Don't stay at this hotel. The only reason i didn't give it a 1 star is because it was one of the least expensive hotels...
