Very Disappointing!! As a member of the Holiday Inn rewards program, we try to stay at Holiday Inn or Express locations whenever we travel. However, this location left us very disappointed. This location is in need of a major renovation/upgrade. It is no where near worth the rates that they are charging for rooms, weeknights or weekends. We have stayed in $75.00/night locations that were far superior to this hotel. I want to point out that the only bright spot here is the people. From the front desk clerk to the people serving breakfast, they are are very friendly and personable. This is the only positive that I can think to share for this location. First, the room rate that was posted on line was less than what we were charged. The rate that came up when looking for a place to stay was in the $150 per night range. While this is not out of the ordinary for a beach location, this hotel is not up to this standard. The $193 per night rate for Thursday night was way to high. The $410 per night that we were charged for Friday night (weekend rate) was completely ludicrous for the shape this hotel is in. Our room floor had soft spots in it that made the flooring feel unstable. The cooling unit seemed to work however upon waking up each day, our clothes and items were literally wet with condensation due to lack of dehumidification. The door to the balcony had swelled almost to the point that it would not open and appeared to not have been painted in many years. The handle was almost unusable and would only open the door by lifting up on it. The floors throughout this hotel were very dirty (visible items that were not addressed during our stay by housekeeping). The stairwell carpets did not appear to be swept either day that we there. The fitness center (used by my wife) did not have any towels available. There were no sanitizing wipes to clean equipment before or after use. The water dispenser was not stocked and was not usable. The continental breakfast was what we have come to expect at HIE and was adequate. Be advised that there is a $10 per night parking fee that is not included in the stay rate. This came as a surprise to us as we are not used to having to pay to park at a facility where we are staying. I did return to the website and did find this listed but you have to look for this information to find it. Be aware of this if you choose to stay here. For what this weekend cost us, it left us wishing that we had stayed elsewhere. In hindsight, we were very disappointed in this location and sorry that we spent the money to stay here. This location needs an extensive upgrade to be worth the rates charged.

Buckle up, kiddos, and get ready for a story. My (43f) wife and I (44m) have been coming to Corpus for 24 years. It’s the easy vacation spot from where we have lived for most of our marriage. One thing about CC: it’s on the coast. Surprise, right? So, for all the trips we’ve made, one thing has been consistent - mold and detritus. These are one because of how pernicious they are. This hotel has neither. For the first time in two decades, we’ve found lodgings that: - are quiet - are close to the beach (5 minute walk) - have a tasty (not just good) breakfast selection - have a polite, and even kind, staff - have reasonable rates Now, in the desire to present a comprehensive picture, there are some things that can be seen as negative: - the tub had some rust marks - the shower water pressure was fairly weak compared to what we’re used to - a (as in 1) wall attachment wasn’t flush against the wall in one spot - some of the walls could stand a new coat of paint (from client damage, not hotel negligence) That said, none of these things had any true effect on our stay, especially since, even at places just across the road, consistent reviews discuss the smell of mold being so pervasive that it affected their stay. What did have an impact on our stay: - a squall arose when my wife and son was at the beach, and they were able to hustle back in 3 minutes - a different rain splatter arose. I dropped my family off under the awning and parked. When I came in, the front desk staff was handing out towels for people to dry themselves off. - the coffee they serve is straight up good. I normally have to go out for Starbucks or Dutch Bro.s, but not this trip. - our room, after tax, was under $200/night for a king bed, a queen bed, a pullout couch, and a kitchenette - the pool and hot tub were meticulously clean - the gym has up to 50# weights This is the place to stay, hands down.

1. DOWNSIDE is that you have to pay for parking?? I was told by the front desk is the reason why we had to pay is because those who are just visiting the beach would park the Holiday Inn and their customers wouldn't have any spot to park. Then I happened to go to the beach and find other people have parking pass from Holiday Inn but we have to pay for ours each day???? Literally why didn't they do this from the beginning? Please let me know why do y'all make us pay for parking. Giving an excuse saying because of those who don't stay there is not a good excuse! At least give your future customers a parking pass instead of making them pay like you did for whoever it was (picture below). 2. The room sucks. It was loud coming from the door slamming from across and upstairs too. Upstairs was loud from 1 am and 4 am, stomping and walking back and forth. Yes I also heard sounds from the couple and their bed as well. Literally that woke me up. 3. The location was great since it was next to the beach. That's all that was great about this place. For the price per night, you get a good location because you could walk to the beach, but for the price to experience all of that was not great. I'm giving them a 2 stars instead of 1 because the staff was actually nice and friendly. Working in the industry, I know how hard it is to deal with customers while their boss is right behind them. That's me being lenient.

Strangest hotel experience of my life. My husband and I booked this place for our summer beach vacation with our kids. We were very pleased with the location at first and felt like it was a typical Holiday Inn; nothing special, but clean and decent. We got there June 17th and were told right away by the front desk woman that if we would like to get a full refund of our room and cancel our stay, we need to let them know before 11 AM the next day. Never had a hotel tell me that at check in before. We knew that a storm was coming in, but also planned indoor activities for the days it would be raining. The next morning, we went to the beach, came back around 11:30 to wash off and get some lunch, and the front desk people insisted we leave. They told us everyone else is checking out, they are going to lose power due to the storm (not sure how they knew that for certain), and that their phones were already down. I asked if we would still receive our refund since it was past 11 and we were told of course we would because we can’t help the weather, but we would have to talk to Expedia and have them contact the property to receive the refund (This is when we were told the phones are down and to have Expedia email, not call). We returned our golf cart we had rented for the day and only used for 3 hours, quickly packed our things, and came back to the lobby to speak with the front desk and ensure our refund. I was messaging with an agent via Expedia who emailed the property while talking with me. The front desk woman said she responded to the email and had already put the refund through on her end, so now it was on Expedia. She was also talking with other customers on the phones that were supposedly down while we were in the lobby messaging with the Expedia agent. As we were leaving, we saw that the other hotel parking lots were still full of cars, people were still out on the beach, people still in other hotel pools. No one else seemed to be pushed out of their hotels. We relocated to a Holiday Inn in San Antonio and are finishing out our vacation here. I called the hotel today around 10 AM to ask if we had left something in our room. The front desk woman who helped us before answered the phones that are supposed to be down, so clearly the hotel still had power, as well. She told me none of the rooms had been cleaned yet when we had left at 12:45 the day before. I said “really? The cleaning ladies were cleaning the room next to ours when we left”. She then told me to call back at “noon or something”. I also got an email from Expedia this morning telling me the hotel did not advocate for our refund, but that Expedia would refund us for the nights we didn’t stay at the hotel. My husband and I think this is place may be some kind of front or they are running some sort of scam on people. Very sketchy experience. Would not recommend this place at all. Bummer because we really liked...

This hotel is privately owned and it shows. We requested early check in since we were traveling 5 hrs. We get there at noon to be told by who i assume is the manager "no and that it's only a request. Doesn't mean it's gonna happen and come back at 4". If you can't honor early check in, don't offer and don't agree to that option. We could have left later if we could not check in. The rude attitude was uncalled for as we were not disrespectful in any way.

Finally got checked in. Hallway/lobby is HOT and smells like fish. I overheard the cleaning staff talking about the smell and that someone may have had an icechest. Elevator very slow

We get in our room to discover they charged us a day early and we were charged a 50.00 deposit each night.

I questioned the charges on my card. Usually we are charged at checkout and have never been charged up front at any other holiday inn express. I was never told about a nightly deposit or being charged up front. Guys response was "maybe ask about deposits and when you're going to be charged next time." Ok...but that's something they should share with you upfront as a business

Our phone in our room never worked. There was an outage or something because I heard the rude manager on the phone each time we came to the lobby complaining. Very unprofessional as she was yelling at the people on the phone. Maybe go in the office next time to handle business. they also never told us when we checked in the phones were out and apparently didn't tell anyone else either because we heard people asking. If the phones dont work, thats probably something they should tell people upfront because that is Definitely a safety issue. If something happens you can't call for help etc

Room was filthy behind bathroom doors and floor.

Zero water pressure and barely hot water when we took a shower

I had to return dirty towels to front desk to get new ones. I asked about towels and was told I had to bring my dirty ones down to get a new set. I also did not have room service clean at all the 2 nights we were there

Breakfast was terrible and they ran out of stuff halfway through Breakfast. We went down about 8:30 and the containers were empty except eggs and muffins. We waited about 30 minutes and they never refilled it

Parking charged daily.

The ONLY positive thing was the location. It was directly across from the beach. We had an "ocean view balcony" the bottom of the door had gaps and hot air came in.

I would never stay here again. I have also not gotten my deposit back as of yet. I asked how long it would take and they said it has nothing to do with them. I told them I would give it a week or so and if I didn't get it I would contact them. I was told not to. That I would need to contact my credit card company

I'm so disappointed in our stay. Would...
