It makes me so sad to have to write this review, however this has been the worst experience with a Hotel and service industry situation in general, I have ever been involved in. On Friday July 19th I checked into this hotel and Saturday morning at 5 am, I thought I was dreaming when I woke up to the sound of rain in my hotel room, when I realized what was happening I jumped out of bed to about 2 inches of water all over the hotel floor. I grabbed towels and threw them down and found the leak that was quite literally raining down from the ceiling and used a trashcan to collect the water until it stopped. This was from the shower in the room above us. My sons suitcase was soaked and all of his clothes were wet and so were all the beach items I had left near the leak. I do have a full video recording of this situation as well. This is nothing compared to the service and the way this situation was treated by hotel staff. I called down to the front desk for over an hour to inform them of the situation and no one answered the phone until 6 am. ( there should always be someone at the front desk.) The water had stopped dripping by this point. I told the man at the front desk what was gong on and said, I would like to switch rooms, but now that I've cleaned it all up and the leak is stopped, I want to wait until my son wakes up to move rooms. I called down around 9 again and the maintenance man was sent up to look in my room. He was the only person who was kind during this issue. He spoke mostly Spanish and we had a hard time communicating, but he used Spanish to engish translation in texts and we figured it out. HE came back with help to move me rooms 3 doors down. We moved & it was time to meet friends at the beach so I let it go and waited for management to get ahold of me. NO ONE called. No one checked in. No one called to comp the stay. NOTHING. I run a business that is in the service industry and this is completely uncalled for when a guest experiences something like this at your establishment. Check out on sunday comes around and again, no one has reached out. I called at 10 am to speak with the front desk or whoever was in charge and made the statements I mentioned above.... that I would like to be refunded for my stay due to the issue and lack of care from the hotel staff on a very serious matter. You had a leak in a guests room that went unresolved for hours and drenched their belongings. She said she would speak to her GM. I packed everything up, and at 11 was checking out and went down to the front desk to see what the GM said. I was told there wasn't an answer and the GM wasn't in.... I said okay well someone needs to figure out what we are going to do about this situation because it's completely unacceptable and I shouldn't even have to be having this conversation with you, it should already be taken care of. I then waited in the lobby with my son for 40 minutes!!!!! It's now 11:40 at this point, I get up and said this is ridiculous, someone needs to come speak to me. A woman comes out and notifies me that they can give me 20% off my stay.... 20% off doesn't even cover one night. I WAS SHOCKED. I told them that was unexceptable and I was going to stay in corpus until the GM called me to comp the room entirely. I took my son to the aquarium and waited. 4:00 comes and still no one from the hotel has called, so I called. This time I spoke with Elena who was hands down the most condescending rude woman I have ever spoken with and said the manager wouldn't be in until tomorrow morning. Mind you... one of my clients is the ex VP of a major hotel chain and is literally shocked at the treatment I have received. So fast forward to monday morning ... I call again and "shes in a meeting." Mind you everyone keeps saying I'm waiting for the GM to call but guess what ... the GM is a man and is no where to be found during this entire situation and the manager actually on duty is Elena who is refusing to handle the situation. No one calls me back yet again. I finally call that afternoon and speak with...
Read moreI’ll start with the positives from our most recent visit at this hotel.
Positive - The restaurant downstairs has decently tasting food. The INSIDE bar is very clean and welcoming. The access to the beach is unbeatable due to it being located ON the beach. One helpful employee by the name of Yoke-loue (think I misspelled it)
Now for the Long list of negative
We paid for our ocean view balcony room in FULL 48hrs prior to our check in day. They called me back with less than 24hrs to check in to inform us that due to a recent storm ALL ocean view balcony’s were closed off and no guest. We’re staying in those rooms so they had to downgrade us. Come to find out this was a lie as you can see from the attached photos that there was multiple guest staying in these ocean view rooms I think what happened is they simply overbooked it and to cover their butts, they decided to lie to their customers.
The next thing is the impossible act of getting a hold of anybody at this hotel. You might be lucky to get an answer but 90% of the time you will not get an answer despite how many times you call.
Upon trying to check in after being told check-in was at three we were told that our room wouldn’t be ready until 330 or four so we showed back up at four and our room still wasn’t ready. It wasn’t until I got loud that the manager came out of the back office and got our room ready for us.
Upon entering the elevators in the hallway, going to our room, you can tell that there is no pride of work in this building. The carpets are stained. The elevators could simply be swept out and mopped, but they are untouched and filthy.
Once we walked into our room, I was greeted with a long list of other issues like dried, bloody boogers, being wiped and left on the wall dried muddy handprints on the side of the furniture. The bathroom door is a farmhouse sliding door that only closed 3/4 of the way leaving a huge gap wide open . Also the adjoining door to the other room did not lock on our side so all the other people had to do on the other side, was simply push our door open.
Also, during our 3 to 4 day stay not one time did we receive any kind of room service or cleaning up in between whenever we would call and request more blankets or towels once again they do not answer the phone. In fact they require you to go all the way down to the front desk and get your own items opposed to providing room service and bringing you the items
Furthermore, whenever they called and downgraded our room, they informed me that all of the fees would be waived as far as the resort fees, my pet fees, and everything else only to be greeted with incredible rudeness by one of their employees whenever I asked about it. The employee proceeded to tell me that they will not be waving any pet fees, despite what I may have been told that they are only going to waive the resort fees, which, in the end you can see from the receipt they did not. Do they still charge me all the resort fees. Furthermore, they require you to put down $100 deposit. I have still not seen that back and it has been 48 hours.
There is also an incident that happened while I was there and I just happened to be in the lobby, but it was a mother screaming at the manager saying how would you feel if it was your daughter and that the guy that was involved in this incident was just a huge creep and then the manager let it slip out that he’s actually an employee . While they do have some female house cleaners I feel like a good majority of them are men which there’s nothing wrong with that but these are kind of creepy looking guys and I’m saying that as a bearded dude with two daughters.
All in all if all you care about is close access to the beach I’m sure you will love this place but if you care about a place that has pride taken into it is clean and safe for your family, but I think you’re gonna be in for a huge letdown like me and my family were when we came to this location .
Furthermore, to prove my point, watch their generic copy and...
Read moreIf I could go back in time, I wouldn’t waste my time or money on this hotel. My family was in Corpus Christi visiting a dying relative so we decided to try to have a nice retreat to return to after spending all day at the hospital. Instead what we got was the most appalling customer service I’ve ever experienced when paying as much as we did for this hotel. Our city view balcony room overlooked a parking lot. The very parking lot that we had to pay for to park at the hotel even while staying there. The floor was filthy and the walls were dented and scuffed. I’ve stayed at Motel 6s that were nicer than this place. If you do decide to stay here after reading this far, make sure you can check in before midnight even if you’ve already paid for the room or Jessica will make your life a living hell. Apparently it’s okay for the front desk to not answer phone calls or allow you to leave a voicemail for 3 hours to let them know you’re going to be late because you are trapped on an airplane on the tarmac for 4 hours during a lightning storm. And when the hotel finally calls you more than an hour after check in ends and demands that you check in with less than an hour despite the fact that you’re stuck in another city that’s okay for them to do. Last time I checked, I was the one paying, so to be threatened to have our reservation canceled because we were unable to teleport to another city is completely unreasonable. The manager, Jessica, was only able to explain that they had 100 rooms to check in on Friday and couldn’t answer the phone. No apology for a complete lapse in service on their part, only blame. It seems to me that someone with any experience in hospitality might have been able to predict based on the number of reservations they had that perhaps they needed more staff on hand to handle the large number of customers arriving. But no, Jessica deflected that question as well and continued to blame us, the customer, for not being able to get to the hotel to on time. After speaking with Wyndham corporate, I confirmed that the hotel should allow us to check in with a credit card and a photo of a driver’s license that was emailed to the hotel. Despite asking for that accommodation, the hotel refused to allow us to do that. If you’re still reading this and are still planning to stay here I wish you the best of luck. Make sure you book directly with Wyndham and not a third party and check in right at 3:00 pm so as not to inconvenience the staff there because after all, the business is always right! Perhaps some courses in hospitality and business management would serve the staff in improving your business. Have a great day!
REPLY TO HOTEL: Your reply still doesn’t address our questions raised about not answering the phone or allowing us to check in as Wyndham corporate told us we could do. So you might imagine that we were upset with the disrespect we were shown. We followed everything in our contract, including instructions from Travelocity to reach out to the hotel if we would be late, but were unable to make contact with your staff and neither was Travelocity. As we explained to multiple people at your hotel, we did not want to make changes to our reservation, merely alert the hotel that we were delayed by no fault of our own. So although Jessica indicated that it was Travelocity’s responsibility to make changes to our reservation, it fell on deaf ears that we didn’t want to make changes only to relay that we would be late. Corporate Wyndham also tried calling the hotel on our behalf and were also unable to get through. That is why they instructed us to submit a photograph of a driver’s license and provide a credit card over the phone. It’s still unclear why that request wasn’t accommodated. You have many excuses for how your facility operates, but based on many other reviews, our experience was not unique in any way. I hope my truthful review will prevent others from having to experience the nightmare...
