The atmosphere is great. Love the locals that hang out with their dogs during rainy weather. Very nice people. Staying for the week with my under age daughter, and went in at 9:05pm and went straight to the back to get her ice cream. Was greeted by a gentleman that advised me no minors are allowed after 9pm, fine. Was asked if I had a tab up front and I told him well no, we came here first and you said no minors. His response “don’t get attitude with me, I just had to repo a can am”. I said no offense meant, I simply came to the back to get my daughter ice cream before ordering a drink for myself. He then responded “don’t mess with authority”. I told him I was not. I’m a customer. The very rude and arrogant way this man handled the situation has made me adamant not to return. Which is unfortunate since my daughter has had ice cream 3 days straight from there (and even ate dinner last night there) and we’re here for the rest of the week. I recommend not having interaction with this clearly unhappy employee and please for the love of God don’t bring a minor into “his” establishment after 9pm. Just forewarning other tourist as myself who don’t know their rules. Also. Had to giggle at their mural on the back of the building advertising bar drinks to go. Then see the sign walking out that no...

Olivia. You were amazing this weekend. While visiting Padre Island this weekend with our grandkids, we decided to seek out a cart rental for a few hours. So a word of warning the business model is only 24 hour rentals on Holiday Weekends. Salty Dolphin was our third attempt, I inquired with Olivia and her response was that they only do 24 hour rentals, because her professional communication with me was eye to eye I requested she reconsider since our grandkids are so excited to experience the beach and we only need it for a few hours, She looked out at her inventory and with a smile agreed to rent us a cart for three hours. Her decision provided us with an opportunity to make really great memories on the beach with our grandkids. Since we visit the island four to five times a season we will be returning to Salty Dolphin for Ice Cream, Adult Beverages and Cart Rentals. We have shared this information with our friends and family members as well as work associates. One employee who takes customer service above the expectations can bring incredible amount of value to a business. Thank you for having great people working at your location. Olivia, thank you for keeping it real. Respectfully J&V...

I don’t usually give businesses bad reviews ever but for this particular place I had too… Salty Dolphin Bar in South Padre Island is known for running off regulars to get more tourists.. yes I am a tourist but this is the rumor in the area from other businesses close by. Anywho, my fiance and I walked over there as it was across from our condo after a day at the beach so we go in, met a few people we had met earlier in the day. We walk to the bar and told the lady what we wanted she says without looking at us “ my door guy says I cant serve you guys” huh? At this point in my kind I’m like maybe my fiancé cause he’s had a few but, me? She says again “door guy says I cant serve you guys” at this point I’m confused.. wondering is this dude profiling us. Mind you I don’t even drink I think I had one or two drinks earlier in the day at the beach. So I’m like okay maybe it was my boyfriend’s RDF or maybe it was the guy just passing judgement either way don’t give this business any of your money or do.. either way I just wanted to throw this out and give my opinion.. There are SEVERAL other places that served us...

I had a deeply disappointing experience at the Salty Dolphin. What was supposed to be a fun night out turned into a situation where I felt completely taken advantage of. I was overcharged for drinks I never ordered or consumed—charges that conveniently appeared on my tab after I was clearly intoxicated. Tho only thing I had to drink on that receipt was the model bottles. And I DID buy the one beer (voodoo ranger) for a bartender that came in from across the street. Rather than looking out for their patrons’ well-being, the staff seemed more interested in padding the bill. This kind of behavior is not only unethical, it’s predatory. Bars have a responsibility to serve responsibly, not exploit vulnerable customers. I tried to address the issue, but the staff was dismissive and unhelpful. Whether it was negligence or intentional, it’s unacceptable. I won’t be returning, and I strongly urge others to think twice before spending their money here. There are plenty of places in Corpus Christi that actually respect their customers—this isn’t one of them.

⸻ DO NOT RENT from The Salty Dolphin! This was hands down the worst rental experience I’ve ever had. I paid $194.85 for a golf cart that took FOUR tries before they could even get me one that halfway worked. On top of that, I was charged a $100 deposit, which they never returned even though the breakdown wasn’t my fault—their own employee confirmed that. The cart broke down on the beach, leaving me stranded with kids for over an hour. I had to go back to them in person just to get someone to come out and help. Instead of taking responsibility, they refused to provide a replacement cart or refund my deposit. The carts are in absolutely horrible condition—rusted, dirty, unsafe, and clearly not maintained (check the photos for proof). One of the seats was disgusting, and several had visible damage underneath. This isn’t just bad service—it’s unsafe and unacceptable. Save your money and your time. Avoid The Salty Dolphin at all costs.

First of all, the name. Excellent! Chill local bar between the Holiday Inn Express and the Hawthorne. The contrast between the large hotels that surround it and its "Island shack" size, give it a "I'm here. What are you going to do about it?" attitude. The music playing was hard rock/metal covers of classic pop songs. Not sure if it's always like that but the niche genre added to the bar's grumpy, rebellious personality. The pretzel was generous, delicious and $5. Beers are about the same price so after tip and tax, $13 mellows you out for a relaxing evening. My only complaint is that all the drinks are in plastic cups. I'm not sure what the reason for that is but as an adult, I'm past the sippy cup phase of my life. Overall, if you're staying in one of the hotels nearby, a great bar to get the evening started.
