Brewster Street Icehouse - On The Island — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

The atmosphere was nice and our server upstairs was sweet, but that's the only nice thing I can say. You have to order at the counter and are unable to order anything else with your server at your table other than alcohol. My husband tried to order a Dr. Pepper and was told he had to leave the table and go downstairs to the counter to order it even though there was a self serve fountain 20 feet from our table. Our order was confused with another table because the person at the counter gave us the same number which required us to talk to the other table to determine who ordered what because the servers were unable to figure it out and then told us that we needed to figure it out amongst outselves. We then waited over an hour for our food and it was subpar. It was overpriced, bagged frozen food, some of which was cold. Someone in our party ordered fish tacos and we couldn't tell if the mahi mahi tacos were chicken or fish because they were rectangular frozen strips. Although this will likely not be a concern to most people, my amputee mother had difficulty going up the stairs. The stair tread depth appeared to be less than the ADA recommended 11 inches and the stair tread height also seemed to be higher than the recommended 7 inches. Food great. Atmosphere great. By far the worst dining experience I have had in a very long time. I'm a big back too and eat a lot so take that for what its worth I've eaten at a lot of places. Order placed at 9:11 PM and food got to the table at 10:23. Not sure which part of the order was holding us up. We ordered Corn Dogs for the kid, a chicken sandwich, a burger, and a blackened red fish. Appetizers were the last thing to arrive (oysters). Never once did any of the dozen servers walking around check-in on us. Still had the audacity to ask for a tip upfront which I regretfully payed to be nice. I don't think they were killing the cow out back either since that's what we do in Mexico and we got the meat to the table faster. Wouldn't recommend unless you prefer watching the staff clean up and pack up tables before asking what the hell you're still doing there. When we asked one of the staff where any portion of our food was she told us "the other table also waited an hour". What? You mean the party of 10? Please be so serious. Couldn't be bothered to get us our appetizers...

Food was forgettable, lacked any seasoning, and was served room temperature. Gravy on the chicken fried steak was cold. Chicken fried steak was tough and bland. Burgers were also lackluster. Ordering and table setup made no sense. We were instructed to go inside to order, but then after ordering we were asked what table/area we were sitting at. Impossible to do when there are very few tables available and you end up having to find a table in another area than what you told them at the ordering counter, which also appeared to create chaos for the employees bringing the food out and hunting for the correct table. Inside area air conditioning was minimal and people were fanning themselves with menus to stay cool. Had high hopes for this place but left...
