I was pleasantly surprised with my time at the Beachfront Inn. The hotel is built in a funky U shape, so some of the rooms have front facing windows while the others have patios that look out to the water at a slight angle. I rented one of the ocean view King Suites and was wildly surprised at how much room I was getting. There's a bedroom with a wall mounted tv, closet and a window that looked out to the hallway. For privacy I kept that closed during my stay since any natural light I wanted was out in the "living room" A full bathroom was across the hall and further down was a small living room with a couch, two tables, another wall mounted tv, a desk and the door to the patio. Bonus was a small minifridge, microwave and small coffee machine. It was sparse in decoration and a previous review wrote "worn around the edges" which I think fits the bill. But this isn't by far a bad place to stay. I was a solo traveler and only there for 2 nights, but the bed was comfortable and the thermostat could be changed to warm or cool the rooms. It is in walking distance to a bar & grill, a sushi place and a little further down a mexican restaurant. If you want to get down to the beach, there's a short walk to the crosswalk and then up and over the bridge that crosses the train tracks. Speaking of train tracks, yes the train will drive by along with cars on the main road because the hotel is on the PCH. It wasn't loud or often enough to be distruptive and but along with the typical creaks and echoes of other guests; if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. There's a small jacuzzi in the center, right above the entrance to the underground parking lot. Easy to park and find, although I can imagine it'd be a tigher fit during the summer months. There is an elevator that goes to every floor and the parking garage for accessibility. The jacuzzi looks straight out towards the ocean and has a really nice landscape view of the sunset. There is a complimentary continental breakfast available and a small dining room where you can enjoy your breakfast, or you can take your food up to your room. When I stayed it was during the hours of 8 to 10am and the waffle machine was an excellent addition. There's also oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee and orange juice. There is a filtered water station where you can fill up your water bottle and a small ice machine outside. I had a wonderful time, check in and out was easy and it was close to everything I needed during my stay. I highly recommend if you're not looking or needing a hotel with frills, to stay here instead. I will come back the next time I want to stay in Dana Point. *Bonus advice for anyone who planning on staying with their significant other, per what I walked into hearing unintentionally after getting back to the hotel late one night. This is a beautiful quaint place to stay and has great views of the ocean, so I can understand the romance of it. If you embark on amorous activity with your loved one, and if you keep your balcony/patio windows open, the symphony of your intimacy will echo ✨️throughout the entire complex✨️ Please keep that in mind and maybe make sure the windows are closed 👌🏻

This nice quaint spot is in the perfect location. The beach and restaurants in short walking distance of 2 minutes. The hospitality is Exquisite! Front desk customer service is Elite! The Guys, while checking in and checking out, were More than polite, personable, helpful, respectful, and accommodating. Making sure to get you the best price available, asking if you have AAA to ensure you get that discount. The view from the Oceanview room is perfect, but it is pricey for over $250 to stay 1 night (for 17hrs). The room itself was perfectly staged and neat. Having a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker with cups, coffee & creamer. A table to eat, a desk to take care of any work you may need to do with a stylish desk lamp that doubles as a charger. All the windows open so you can enjoy the sea breeze, which you can see, hear, and feel. The bed was comfortable and perfectly dressed with crisp white soft linen with 3 pillows and 2 extra in the closet. The bathroom provides enough clean towels, travel size lotion, soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The elevator was clean , working, and a smooth ride that felt safe. The complimentary breakfast had waffles, boiled eggs, a variety of cold cereal, a variety of instant oatmeal packets, fresh fruit of apples and bananas, yogurt, a variety of dainish, with coffee, orange juice and milk to drink. Everything is neatly set up and organized with enough available. There is ONLY 1 ice machine on the 1st floor. There is a hot tub situated facing the ocean in the middle of the courtyard. The downside of the room is as follows: the couch arms and back were filthy clearly a whole brown color, yet the couch was Blue. When I sat on it, the seat sank to what I thought was going to fall in. As soon as I sat a bug with wings crawling on my thigh, I jumped up, never sitting on it again, I noticed the same bugs crawling on the filthy, torn curtains. The window seal was covered in the same bugs. The good thing after taking pictures to show the front desk, they were more than happy to give me a discount off my stay. Overall a stay that I would recommend as I was recommended by my son to go from his experience.

This is hard to write because I'm not a fan of one star reviews unless something is seriously wrong at a business. Unfortunately that is the case here and I believe in using this platform and the free market to let people know when they shouldn't give a business any of their hard earned money. Last week, while checking into this hotel my husband was injured by the elevator on property. Frankly it almost seriously injured my toddler (loss of limb or even life). It also destroyed my husband's Iphone. It was a terrifying experience. When we tried to get the on site staff involved they wouldn't even come look at the elevator let alone shut it down. They also wouldn't give us the manager's information. I found out who owned the hotel (DK Property Investment Group) and called them while there. They gave us the GM's information and told us to call him and wait there. We called and left three messages and spent an additional 3 hours waiting at the property ( I wasn't staying here after that) trying to get the situation rectified and warning others of the danger. Both the door closing safeguard and the internal components are broken so the door smashed my husband's foot, phone, and almost smashed my kids upon exit. Riding the elevator turned into a nightmare for my toddler. The back of the elevator was open to the shaft in the back and he tried to stick his little hand out the open back while we were moving. I can't imagine what would have happened if I hadn't caught him in time. I grabbed him by the shirt just in the nick of time. Even after multiple calls to the owners, managers, Dana point fire department and the elevator permit office we still have not heard back from a single soul on this. There wasn't even acknowledgment that there was ever an issue and now I have to buy a new phone. I count myself lucky I'm not also paying for my toddler to be hospitalized or worse at this point. Shame on this business!

EDITING THIS REVIEW TO GIVE FOLLOW UP INFORMATION

I HAD TO FIGHT THE FALSE SMOKING CHARGES TO THE END WHERE DUE TO LACK OF TRUE EVIDENCE (BECAUSE NO SMOKING AND NO VIOLATION OCCURED) THE CHARGES WERE REVERSED AND GIVEN BACK TO ME. THANK YOU VISA FOR HAVING SENSE AND NO THANK YOU TO THIS PITIFUL PLACE THAT TRIED TO SCAM A DECENT GUEST OUT OF MONEY TO PAY FOR YOUR WEAK NEW POOL DURING SLOW SEASON. YOUR STAFF WAS PATHETIC AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE LAZY EXCUSE FOR A MANAGER WAS ABYSMAL. THANK YOU AGAIN TO VISA FOR HAVING SENSE AND I WISH THE BEACHFRONT INN AND SUITES STAFF AND ESTABLISHMENT ZERO HOPE IN THE FUTURE AND IF ANYONE READS THIS - CHECK MY OTHER REVIEWS - IM NOT A NEGATIVE PERSON, THIS PLACE TRIED TO SCAM ME...DONT GET SCAMMED.

Pitiful I have to write this and I HOPE for a quick resolution from the worker Carlos, although after my initial call and fraudulent charges I’m not hopeful. I just checked out this morning, stopping through during a weekend birthday trip. I was hoping for some peace & quiet and beach views. I was instead charged hundreds of dollars for a smoking fee & I never once even thought about smoking in the room. I’ve never been charged or even warned of smoking as I would never disrespect a property or its rules. I’m now on day two of my trip with hundreds unexpectedly pulled from my account for a fraudulent lie charge. When I called they told me I have to wait for the fraud they charged me to get on his next shift and debate and hope for a reversal? That can’t be life when smoking never occurred. Disgusted and disgruntled. Thank you Dana point beach front inn for ruining my birthday and charging me hundreds fraudulently. Do the right thing and fix this asap!

UPDATE: in response to this hotels poor response trying to save face, I did call and infact I tried to be civil, your staff then lied and claimed they had witnesses of smoking on the balcony when that was disingenuous. This hotel's tactics to gain a few extra dollars is shameful. Carlos, shame on you. BTW, leaving a review of experience as a warning to future travelers isn't "spamming" negative reviews. BUYER BEWARE. BUYER BEWARE. BUYER BEWARE. AND ESPECIALLY SMOKER BEWARE. IF YOU SMOKE AT ALL DO NOT COME HERE THEY WILL EXPLOIT YOU WITH...
