Anyone excited about these free trolleys but has NO IDEA where to go on them? That was me this week. But I did some research and found some kid-friendly spots along the Dana Point South Trolley route. Here are 5 ideas to get you started! 🌊 The Dana Bluff Top Trail, which is just a short walk from south trolley stop 12. This trail is very short (.2 miles) and good for all walkers. There are a lot of stairs, so this is NOT stroller friendly, but my 1 year old walked it just fine. The views here are beautiful and the trail is historic. The trail starts at 34342 Street of the Amber Lantern. It just connects one street to another, so we walked out and back. Hungry? Try the Schwack Beach Grill next to the trolley stop. 🛝Pines Park at South Trolley Stop 19 is so beautiful and green. The playground is fun but my kids were drawn in by all the squirrels and pathways among the hillside shrubs. We have been here twice and I see that is a common theme among all the kids. 🦎Reptiles Retropolis is a 2-3 minute walk from south trolley stop 3. This is a small but fun pet store if your kids want to see some snakes, lizards, and iguanas. This was probably the least exciting excursion of the day, so if you are short on time it may be better to prioritize the other outings. 🐟I did not list the Tide Pool and Aquarium in the reel since it wasn’t open, but this is another great spot and I believe it can be accessed via the South Trolley at Stop 16. 🏝 And last but not least is Doheny State Beach! South Trolley stop 16. 💁🏻‍♀️ Tips for the trolley: Bring snacks for the waiting periods. Download the app (Dana Point Trolley) to see where the trolleys are at. Sit in the front (less wind) of you want to warm up. Sit in the back (more wind) if you want to cool down. 🚎 Have FUN!!!! #ocparentguide #ocparents #ockids #ocfamilies #danapoint #danapointtrolley #orangecounty

i generally enjoyed this park as it seemed it is cut or in two separate sections. it has one side with a playground and more of a grassy area for kids to play and run around in. the other part that i liked more was flat with benches and over looking the ocean. although, i will be honest with the review being 2 stars because it could be a lot better in a lot of ways but i know there was a section under construction. there was a fence which was broken which could be dangerous and there is also a huge dirt patch with "no trespassing" signs posted all around which i feel they should implement or add to the park but if it's not possible then they should put bushes or something in front of the fencing for a better scenic view of the ocean. there is also not a designated parking lot so some of the people living there will watch you while you park and walk over to the park across the street.

Great little neighborhood park, but it is very tiny. You can't go running around this park to do a cardio work out, because you'll do a full circle in about 3 minutes or so. Maybe for smaller kids, this would be an okay place. They have a small playground, but the playground doesn't have the view of the ocean. It's street parking only. It could be chaotic on the weekends so I have never tried to come here on weekends or holidays.

However, the view is nice even though the road is right by the ocean and the train may pass by from time to time. Even the parking lot and basketball court right by it doesn't ruin the bright blue sky and the sound of the ocean. May be nice for a quiet time or a picnic. Lots of squirrels sunbathing out during warm days by the benches. Occasionally, someone would be out feeding them (which by the way, is discouraged according to the signs around there). The squirrels seem to be familiar with people and approach to take whatever it is that's being offered to them.

Many locals walk their dogs through here too. Clean park in a nice...

Okay so why does Pines Park get only four stars instead of five? It doesn't seem fair because it is a beautiful big park with a great play area and an ocean view to die for in a pretty nice neighborhood.... well California it's because you've given teenagers and vagrants the right to smoke pot in front of our children while they run around, get out of breath and and unsuspectingly taken in long deep breaths of some idiot's second hand weed. No ones there to police it or enforce it so for the third time - young adults were just lighting up because, 'hey, it's legal, right?" And this was before January 1 so no - it wasn't legal and also - it's still not legal in a public place. The four stars comes because Pines Park needs a little more enforcement to keep our...
