We stayed at a nearby hotel for a long weekend. There are plenty other dining options, but we came here twice, we liked it that much.
Food: The first time, we sat at the bar, ordered beers and by recommendation of the bar tender, bacon bombz and fried rice, add kale pork. The bacon bombz were not what I had expected. I thought we'd get a breaded jalapeño popper, wrapped in bacon, but instead, it's jalapeño & cheese, wrapped in bacon (no breading), deep fried. It is SO good. The bacon is perfectly crispy and salty, gooey cheese and a lil heat wrapped inside of it. Yum!
The fried rice with a sunny side up egg over top was really good as well. The creamy mixture of yolk, with rice and the kalua pork (additional topping) was a perfect bite. Add a lil sriracha for an extra kick.
Second time, we had the buffalo wings and Angus Beef sliders. Wings had a good level of heat and were cooked perfectly. The patty on the sliders was charbroiled (or similar) which I love. It gives it this crunchy exterior with tons of flavor, paired with a Hawaiian bun, which works really well. My only comment is that I would have liked the patty to be a bit bigger, same size as the bun. The bite where I had a little bit of everything, meat, bun, avocado, was so so good!
Ambiance: It's a fun sports bar, with ocean view. Super chill and laid back, with the beach right across the street. We came by on a Sunday, right before the afternoon game started and it was pretty busy. Tables with TV view were all taken, but there was standing room around the bar. There's also one TV outside, but only a few tables have a good view of it. All tables come with really awesome ocean view tho.
Service: Good....
Read moreSecond visit was a total fail today. Our waitress was horrible!!!! She took forever to even notice us " invisible customer" and when we were noticed she was not interested in performing her job. She was quite rude and noticeable disinterested in serving our table. Finally ordered and no surprise here that our food took a vvvvvvery loooooong time..... thought she forgot us and to top it off our food was cold and tasted awful. 🤬 When I got up to find her to let her know she was clearly offended. What a horrible mess. I actually had to get up three times to get my own water and even the bartender was rude, unhelpful and allowed me to serve my own water from the pitcher. Lazy and insensitive servers and staff. If you want to be of service then do your job. If you don't want to be of service then get another job. She never came over to even ask how we were doing. You deserve no tip. My husband gave you one but you didn't earn it or deserve it. Why tip hprrible service??? Why! My question for the manager is why do you hire and keep people like this? No No No No!!!!!!!!!! Im telling everyone I know.
Disregard this old review. It now longer applies. 😒 What a treat we had this weekend at Sunsets Bar!! Delicious food amazing drinks and chill atmosphere...and ocean view....
Read moreVery bad service from one waitress set the tone for evening. Ordered a cucumber/jalapeno margarita but what I got was a mace margarita. Straight up burnt my esophagus, I believe it may be scarred (wink). She remedied by taking it back to the bar and adding soda water(?). So she dumps out the alcohol I paid for and replaced it with soda water, but the hotness is still there obviously. Onto the next drink. She rolled her eyes as she left table as seen by other members of our party. Next issue was the tiki lamp above us went out however we kept smelling gas. We explained this to her however she blew it off by saying that was normal and it would relight itself. Not sure how it would relight itself but it took another "firmer" complaint to management to light it. When it did it almost blew up from the gas fumes that had been accumulating. As she was leaving the eyes rolled again, again witnessed y several members of our party. Onto the next bar to spend my money never to return to this one. All it takes is one...
