Second worst hotel experience of my life and let me tell you why! Grab a drink, pack a bowl (with snacks, of course) cuz this one's long-winded even for me; I think once y'all hear what happened, you'll understand why I had to warn everyone as a Google guide and someone who looks forward to actually being able to relax while on vacation.
To start, the pictures they have online of this place help catfish people. Its under renovation right now but the place was dingy and there's no real check in desk, it's just a computer desk off to the left.
Ok so we walked into our room - as soon as we walked in we saw a German cockroach nymph crawl by the bathroom door and the room smelled moldy. Specific, I know - however, I've had to deal with two cockroach infestations in my life so I knew what kind it was. You can imagine how stressful and anxiety inducing it was to have that be the first impression of the room. I reacted on instinct so instead of taking a pic and risking having it get away, I killed it and told my sister we were leaving and asking for another room. We told the receptionist that we found a roach in our room and he didn't seem that shocked, which was also alarming but gave us another room without further question.
Now, I don't know how this happened but I opened the wrong room with our key. I pulled the sheets down to check for bed bugs or blood spots and saw the top sheet on one of them had brownish stains and even more concerning was the water coming in from the rain outside along where the window met the wall so it was not properly sealed and that's another mold concern.
My dad was the one that pointed out it was the wrong room so I fixed the beds and we checked into our actual room. It had carpet on the floor which just made us more anxious about there being bed bugs or roaches without us seeing them. If you look in the reviews, there's been no mention of bed bugs in over a year but I also had to deal with a bed bug infestation before. They can go without feeding for 500 days and all it takes is one to ruin the next five years of your life along with any furniture you may have with a side of psychosis :) There were black spots on one of the bedsheets so my dad took that one. I sat down on the right side of the bed to face my dad and ended up almost flipping the bed cuz it wasn't fully on the metal frame? It was so bizarre seeing the metal rods underneath and I'm glad my dad was able to help put it into place but he's also a stonemason and could probably bench a cow 😂 Anyway, on my side of the bed - there was a "love stain" on the actual bed sheet and that's not the first time this has happened apparently 🤮 My sister and I were panicking cuz we couldn't relax so we had a team huddle in the bathroom. The floor in there was dirty and looked like it hadn't been swept or mopped in a while. My sister has long, wavy, brown hair and I had curly, black hair with blue tips. There were three very evident strands of hair on the floor (in the pic) that were clearly not ours and it just added onto the frustration cuz this place was in such disarray.
After we brainstormed in the bathroom for over an hour, I booked a room at another hotel nearby for the weekend instead even tho it meant sacrificing time with our dad and paying $400, which wouldn't have happened if he booked another place to begin with months ago, but you really get what you pay for.
I don't understand how a place that's had roach complaints for the past two years is still operational considering the risk to public safety this presents. There's other hotels in the area, save yourself the emotional exhaustion and just avoid this place like the plague. Told the receptionist at the other hotel that we switched from a hotel close by and she asked me if it was the Days Inn. You know it's bad if they can name drop like that! This place genuinely negatively impacted what was supposed to be a fun father-daughter trip and I'd rather eat glass than go back :') The only good thing about this is the location,...
Read moreThis was quite possibly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I have reserved a hot tub king size room. It started off with walking in the bathroom to find a dead bug on the floor. The bathroom floors were gross. We walked into the room and the floor had hair balls and bits of crap all over it. I called the front desk and said about my issues, the man I spoke to was kind (he was the only good part about this experience). He had someone come up to deal with the bug and vacuum the floor. Then after all that, I decided to use the hot tub. It was dirty the begin with. The man did have it wiped out. However as soon as I filled it up and I turned the jets on, all sorts of black flecks and scum came out of the jets. I was sitting in the tub. I was disgusted. I called back to the front desk and said I wanted and new room and not to even bother with the hot tub at this point. We moved rooms and there new room had a hole punched in the wall that was badly plastered over. And the floor in the bathroom had the same grossness by the door. The morning came and I got up to go to breakfast. I called the hotel as I was making my reservation and asked what the breakfast situation was. I was told by an employee that it was eggs and meat, cereal and pastries, etc. I got down there to find unlabeled random pastries and boxes of cereal. It was definitely not what I was told or what I was expecting. The second night we found not one but 2 live bugs crawling in our bathroom theat my husband killed. I called to tell the front desk and he said " oh okay, thanks" and hung up. The pool was a decent temperature however it was desperately in need of some upkeep. The paint was peeling and there were huge rust spots. And they had large glass doors that were left open, so the advertised "indoor pool" still had bugs and other gunk in it. It was definitely not the photo on the website of the pool area. Also the chairs were pitiful. One was completely broken, and it was left to just sit there. We couldn't use the wifi the entire trip because I asked for the password and was never given it. On the way out, I get downstairs to find they have blocked off the front entrance and you have to exit through the back door. This is a huge inconvenience for me as I am a handicap individual. Then my husband is waiting for the elevator upstairs with another guest and they shut off the elevators with no warning at all. The front desk worker had to go and ask someone in the basement to turn the elevators back on. This is the worst hotel stay of my life. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to stay in this hotel. I will never stay at a Days Inn again in my...
Read moreChecked into this all smoke-free facility with my roommate and service dog on a Thursday late afternoon for a one day stay. My service dog needed a room near an exit, preferably on the 1st floor, to make taking her out easier, but to accommodate the room style that we had reserved they had to put us on the 2nd floor...no problem. Opening the door to the room at this non-smoking hotel we were hit with an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke, not a slight odor, but a smell that initially burned my eyes & throat when I walked in. I am an ex smoker of over 30 years, so I am quite accustomed to cigarette smoke, the fact that it was bad enough to bother me should show how bad it was. I called the front desk, it did take a while for them to answer since there was only one person working at the desk at that time. He did offer to move us to a different room, but it would not be next to the exit as we had asked for. Since it was already 20 minutes after we had been in the room, had unpacked, started to ventilate the room with the heating system, and had my service dog settled we decided to stay in that room. As we continued to settle in the television worked well and the choices were good. I went to get ice, available on the 2nd & 4th floors of the 4 floor hotel, to discover the ice make on the 2nd floor, my floor, wasn't working...no problem. I took the elevator (the one of the two side by side elevators that was in operation during our stay) to the 4th floor and got a bucket of ice. The hotel offers free Wifi as well, appon returning from my ice run my roommate tells me the Wifi is worthless. She tried to connect with her mobile phone ( I phone Xr ) and tablet, the connection was spotty at best. I tried with my Android phone and had the same experience. The only place I found a good Wifi connection in the entire room was while I was, quite embarrassingly, sitting on the toilet. The night stay came with a free hot breakfast that was rather spartan, including unappetizing oatmeal and institutional, premade cheese omelets that you had to microwave and there were no toppings for them. On the positive side the pool and hot tub were wonderful, very warm, clean and a pleasure to enjoy. The staff themselves were very nice, tried to be helpful and I fully admit that they did give me a 20% discount on my stay for the cigarette smoke smell and the Wifi issue. Ten dollars is ten dollars and every little bit helps. I wouldn't say don't stay here, but if you have a problem, definitely say something. My concern was if I hadn't would, I have been charged for smoking in the room, maybe not...but...
