Today was my first ever massage and it was amazing. I had a one hour Swedish massage with Danielle with menthol oil. I was a little anxious but Danielle made me feel super comfortable. She explained everything to me before we started. It’s a very professional place. I was able to dress the way I felt comfortable even during my massage. She left the room for me to get prepared on the table and returned a few minutes later to begin. Once the massage was over she whispered we’re all done take as much time as you need getting up I’ll be outside if you need me. Once I got up and started walking I felt great and Danielle had a nice cold cup of water for me. Hours after my massage I noticed I still have no back/ neck pain that I’ve been experiencing for months at this point. I was able to feel my muscles and tendons become loose and have more mobility. I tried booking a massage at the Hand & Stone in Dickson City and asked if they had a Black female therapist available, since I've had great experiences with them before. The person on the phone hung up on me without any explanation. It was so rude and unprofessional. I called back the next day to speak with the manager, explained what happened, and instead of an apology or help, they got defensive and threatened to ban me from the spa. I'm paying $100 for a massage, so why can't I have a preference for who works on me? They say you can only request male or female therapists, which is fine, but people choose based on comfort all the time, like picking a male therapist for stronger pressure. My request was polite and reasonable, yet they treated me like I did something wrong. Their reaction makes me wonder if there's racial bias at this location. I can’t express enough how much I love this location. Michelle at the front desk is so warm and engaging, always a smile and super personable making you feel genuinely welcome instantly. Kelliann has been giving me massages for about a year now and she is so knowledgeable and amazing at her craft. Adjusting and listening to what my body needs making the recommendations for a great experience. Always informative on all the add ons and services provided. Friendly and always a warm happy welcome. Tonight I had my first facial with Abby who was extremely knowledgeable, patient and informative. She knew exactly what my skin needed and explained clearly what she was doing.
