We booked this property for two nights because it had one of the few outdoor pools in Dodge City. Since we were there (unknowingly) during Dodge City Days, they jacked the room price to $90 per night (with taxes). We arrived to find the pool empty....false advertising. Upon entering the stairwell to the rooms, we almost cancelled our stay on the spot, after entering the stairs and hallways. Filthy worn carpet and old musty smell, which they attempt to hide with some form of deodorizer to mask the smell. Bad first impression. Our King bed room was cramped and small.
The bathroom was so small that we could only open the door just enough for one person to pass through at a time, because the curved shower curtain rail/rod curved out so far that door would hit it and only partially open. Shower pressure was better than most but the shower head had obvious calcium buildups in it, so half of the holes would not let water through. Another irritation (experienced both at 8 am on one day and 11 am on another) was that the shower water temperature fluctuated from hot to cold, when someone in another part of the motel was using the hot or cold, which is the only way I could explain it since my wife was not using water when I was showering. So there is something wrong with the way this is plumbed. Other rooms' use of hot or cold should not affect my shower.
Lighting in the room is very poor and you have to sit right under the only table lamp in the room to read anything. We were on the third floor (Rm 307). No elevator so we had to carry bags up 3 flights of stairs. At night we had to run the air "on" constantly to create "white noise" to block out traffic noise outside. You can hear every car passing if you are on the front side of the motel. And in Dodge there are a lot of loud muffler cars and motorcycles revving their engines as they pass.
I will say that the two ladies on staff were very nice, polite, courteous and wanted to be helpful. But that doesn't offset all the negatives.
One strong caution for you is that the bed is mounted on a metal frame platform (like a roll away bed frame) with legs which stick out beyond the sides of the mattress and box springs, at the ends and in the middle of the bed. I stubbed my little toe 3 times on the darn thing before I learned to condition myself not to walk close to the sides of the bed. This room is overpriced at their normal rate of $50 per night, due to the condition of...
Read moreI've been coming to Dodge City 4 years in a row, and one of my favorite locations throughout the year due to my work. I help with the windfarms and calibrate their equipment for them and ensure regulation is followed. I've watched many changes with this hotel since my first stay back in 2021. New carpet, remodeled entry way, work on the pool etc. I'm also a diamond member with Wyndham, Choice, IHG, and Hilton hotels... I feel I can compare and be unbiased in my review. 1st thing to note, the toilets are small. If you're a big person, it's something you'll want to consider before staying here. The bathrooms are smaller than 24sqft, with barely room to shut door once you're inside. Showers are ok, decent water pressure (and I was on 3rd floor) but tub floor is curved so difficult to stand. There are after market removeable handle installs to assist, so that's good news. 2nd, there could be more outlets. They provide a good desk and chair to use, but you have to get creative with your plug-in choice. 3rd very comfortable bed. I'll admit, pillow top isn't my first choice, but I can't deny it was a comfortable bed. 4th, TV is small. I didn't watch it to know what condition it was
Anyways, hope you appreciated the review. Safe travels!
Edit this WOULD have been an unbiased review, but heaven forbid your guys' plans change suddenly and you need to check out a day early. Per Chelsey (chelsea?) Who knows how to spell her name, said I would have had to let the hotel know by 3pm the day before otherwise I would still be charged the final day. She also refused to let me know when the manager would be in to discuss the issue. This hotel just lost at least 10 years of subsequent visits of me and my crew (company of Transcat - can look up how many employees we have). If the owner or manager would like to contact me directly to discuss this, I would be more than happy to. My information is on file. Rm 312 from...
Read moreWorst motel I have ever stayed in. Customer service is horrible. When I first arrived the front desk to check in, I stood there for 10 minutes without being acknowledged while the front desk attendant , Jeanette, who I later found out was the manager, was on the phone. I reserved the room online and was charged a higher rate whenever I arrived. I did not notice until I got home. Was on hold with customer service for 25 minutes and never was able to speak with anyone concerning the discrepancy. The beds were so hard I could not sleep without adding a sleeping bag as padding. Every time I took a shower over our 3 day stay, the water went from freezing to hot like toilets were being flushed over and over taking the water. The worst part was my son hit his head on a sharp corner of the refrigerator in the room. There was a metal piece sticking out the the corner of the refrigerator that shouldn't have been there. This put a gash in his head and I had to take him to the ER. I filled out an incident report with the motel and when I asked about liability insurance I was told that the motel only had insurance that covered accidents in the parking lot. I called the main Super 8 Customer Service Line and 2 days later the Owner, Ahbib, called and told me that he would not be held responsible for an accident caused by a refrigerator that came to him that way when he ordered it. I will never stay at another Super 8...
