I DO NOT recommend staying at the Microtel Dover Delaware (Lebanon Street). I've stayed there twice. The front desk clerk named Kim was the most rude, and mean person I've ever dealt with. I booked a room at 5:15pm, and had to cancel it at 5:30pm, because the remnants of Hurricane Debby was coming down hard on the interstate I was taking to get to Dover to visit my youngest son who's stationed at Dover AFB. Everyone on the interstate got off on the first exit they came to, because of the torrential rain coming down. I wasn't about to risk my oldest son, and I's life (along with any other person driving) that evening. She had no manners when I booked the room, or when I called to cancel. She also told me that I'd be charged the entire amount for canceling the room less that 24 hours ahead of time. How do I give 24 hours notice when I was booking it 3 hours before I was to be in it? I had an issue with that, and asked for her managers name, and she very angrily gave me his name as Mr. Patel. After I got off the phone with Ms. Kim aka Ms. Rude I called my credit card company who wasn't going to allow the charge regardless since I cancelled it within 15 minutes of booking it, and Microtel didn't lose any business in that 15 minutes. They never charged my credit card, probably because they knew they wouldn't get away with it. You'll see other reviews about how rude the front desk clerk Kim is. She shouldn't be in a public job since she doesn't know how to treat customers. She's costing Microtel to lose business.
I've stayed at the hotel twice before, because I was desperate to get a hotel near the Air Force Base that my son was stationed at. Microtel's parking lot is extremely small, and has limited spaces. They have an underground/under the hotel parking garage that is full of mold, and mildew. It's so bad I had to hold my breath as I ran to the elevator get out of the underground parking garage.
If you want a great hotel to stay at while in Dover, I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express on North Dupont Highway, Dover Delaware. Wonderful experience...
Read moreI had the opportunity stay at this hotel for a night. I suggest you keep expectations low if you are planning to book this hotel.
Room Generally clean; no coffee machine; no hair dryer; limited bath supplies; strange wall-to-wall mirror behind the bed's headboard; tv was placed on top of an ugly closet, tilted to front, felt like it may fall down anytime; clean bath tub and sink; clean towels; clean bed; quiet heating / cooling unit
Service The lady in the reception treats you like she does not want you to stay there. It seems like she hates her job. Also, she is not friendly at all.
I can easily say that the hotel is managed by extremely cheap people. It is obvious that they are trying to save money on every little thing. There is a low quality coffee machine in the lobby, but that coffee unfortunately literally stinks. There is a sign on the wall, stating that there is complimentary breakfast between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM. The breakfast is served in a brown bag (yoghurt and granola bar :)) which you pick at the reception and take to your room. I was down a the reception at 9am and noticed the receptionist lady was trying to hide. Finally, she stepped out to the main desk to check out another guest. When I asked for a breakfast bag, she said breakfast is until 9AM. It was 9:10am during this conversation. I pointed at the wall sign and told her it must be available until 9:30am, and she again said it is until 9am. Quite honestly, she did not seem like a normal person, so I did not want to get into any argument. I was about to check out anyway.
This place seems like a cheap hotel with low standards. The management is trying to market it as they are facilitated with your expectations, but everything you see is low quality, and they make you feel like they have been fooling you, which I always find very rude.
I WOULD NEVER EVER WOULD LIKE TO STAY AT THIS...
Read moreThis is NOT a favorable review. We booked this hotel due to its location because of personal affairs we needed to attend near by. First, we were aware before booking, that on the Microtel Inn website, they did note, to please pardon their appearance as they were currently re-modeling-okay. Once we arrived to the hotel we were warmly greeted by the desk clerk. I believe, her name was Danellia, she was pleasant. Secondly, we booked a suite for three days, when we got to our room, the room did not look any thing like the website picture. The room make over appeared to be down scaled, to a basic looking room, with no telephone, no closet, and less furniture than the website pics shown. The website room pic's looked more upscaled and appealing. The room was completely different and had a totally different vibe. We asked the desk employee and found out they did not update the website pic's as of yet. Third, the room was not vacuumed, various items were found on the carpet, also the room microwave was filthy (dirty). Fourth, the construction noise OMG! We would reasonably think, they would work at least during business hours or something more guest friendly, if you're going to remain open during remodeling. However, there was loud banging, scraping, indoors; and out doors, heavy equipment noise started at 7am in mornings and continued to approximately 818 pm or later for our entire 3 day stay-just terrible. Based on our most recent experience, we would NOT recommend the Microtel Inn hotel, located in Dover, DE to ANY...
