Whether you are going to the fair, wanting to get away some where calm,or just don't want to be in hectic Carbondale, stay here. I booked this B&B awhile back for the famous Solar Eclipse of 2017 because of it's location in totality. When looking for a place this one looked A+ and it's reviews. Upon arriving there early , they got us the room early. The entire staff are like your family and very nice and genuine. The outside ,building and grounds are clean, crisp and inviting. We watched the eclipse in the back with ever body and had a great time. The building has a comforting southern porch to sit and relax. There was a heat advisory and the inside was very comfortable and inviting. The architecture, layout and decor were very nice and easy to live in.The room had everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. One thing I must add is that everything was clean and meticulous. Very few places I have been, I would call cool, this is one of them.Everybody here could not be more accommodating or nice. Our breakfast in the morning was complete with juice, fruits, sweets as well as a great omelet served with hash browns and fresh varietal tomatoes .This B&B and everybody in it are exceptional and made our experience 100% .Thanks to...
Read moreMy Dad used to own this B&B and did several upgrades: Added a beautiful 3 tiered deck/back porch, beautiful landscape, created another bedroom on the ground floor, decorated, etc. He was a mechanic and arborist for all of his working life before buying the historic Inn which He sold after more than a few years due to how much work running a large B&B entails. As he said: "It was like having kids all over again, but having to cook for and clean their rooms and sanitize everything everyday." Not the retirement he was looking for unfortunately. |Sadly, He passed away in Sept 2017 after years of enduring one of the most horrible diseases: Lewy Body Dementia. He is missed by many.||It's a very nice & quiet place to stay when you just want to get away from it all. Smoking is not permitted however they do have an upstairs deck where you can as well as a few outdoor areas. Books, games and more are located throughout the Inn.||The location is very rural however a very good option for people traveling to Carbondale to visit their kids at college, or anyone who has business in the area. The "Blink and you'll miss it" downtown Duquoin area is within...
Read moreMy sister and I stayed here on Saturday, October 22, 2016. This place is a gem! The owners were very hospitable and delightful. I loved the character of the home and the front porch with the rocking chairs. The food was exquisite! For breakfast, the first course was a belgian waffle topped with a baked peach with a cinnomon glaze and cream cheese whipped cream topped with a blackberry (and perhaps more, but that's what I tasted!). Second course was an omlet with cheese, chicken sausage, green peppers and onions and seasoned hash brown potatoes. All was servered with OJ, coffee or tea. The coffee was great! Please stay here, as all the rooms were clean, beatiful, peaceful and quiet. We stayed in the Ciara, which had a larger bathroom and beautiful clawfoot tub. With free wifi and cable tv, this place can't be beat for the price. We will stay...
