On our way to Portland from the Bay Area, my son and I stayed at the newly opened The Angler Lodge at Dunsmuir. What a wonderfully relaxing and serene experience! The location couldn’t be better. The Angler Lodge presents itself pleasantly and quietly literally as soon as one gets off the interstate 5 freeway. The room is tastefully decorated with a modern touch and the thoughtful attention to details (simple and elegant wall-mount hanger hooks and racks for optimal space usage; the Sacramento-River-Watershed display as captivating information;…) make the place especially inviting. The bed is comfortably firm and everything is pristine clean. I had such a restful sleep wrapped in the soothing sense of seclusion and mountain breeze. Another must-mention is the rare treat of the crystal clear, naturally filtered, premium-quality, cool crisp yummy water from Mount Shasta right out of the tap! The staff is amazingly friendly and super responsive. After an initial online registration, check-in and check-out are just a couple of clicks on the keypad and completely hassle-free. My son and I went to the nearby “Yaks on the 5”, one of the hotel recommendations, for dinner. The juicy and hearty burgers are simply delicious not to mention the fascinating life stories told by the restaurant manager. Dunsmuir was meant to be just a quick stop over of our trip. The Angler Lodge experience turned it into a destination for me when I need to escape the urban life and join nature for some...
Read moreWe were very happy with our stay in The Angler Lodge. The layout was great, not your typical hotel setup with just a bed and a sofa. Opening the door, there was a table and a chair to lay my purse and groceries on. There was a hanger for our jackets and near the door there's a long bench I could sit on as I sit while I remove my shoes. There's even a tray for my dirty hiking shoes! I also have plenty of outlets near my bedside to plug my electronics on, which is a must these days. I always complain when hotels don't have those. It was well thought out by the designer. They gave us a code to enter our room (much like what airbnb's do) and that ended up being useful more than an in person check-in because we arrived so late that night driving all the way from Seattle. Note that the code automatically changes at 11am the following morning as what happened to us when we hiked in the morning and came back a few minutes past 11 :) Thankfully, there was a person who could help us get back in, and you can easily phone/text a person too. All excellent communication methods if you run into any issues during your stay. We didn't have the time to check their library but heard it was great. We would rent the Angler Lodge again when we're in the...
Read moreA true 1-2 star hotel , this place makes motel 6 seem decent and comfortable. This place has a very sketch feel to it and it’s not clean I am amazed on how this place has a bunch of 5 stars, my family and I had a horrible time here from the way it looks, the way it smells and customer service! We called for more shampoo and conditioner because they must have forgotten to refill them and they said go to the Eddie which we had no clue in what that was and it wasn’t until we left that we had seen a room that is outside towards the corner of the building that there is a room called the Eddie. Got hung up on once because we booked and that should have raised concerns but we saw so many good reviews we were led to believe this place was a steal for $140 a night. This place absolutely sucks the carpets are nasty, there are bugs everywhere, one of the pillows had a hole , walls are all messed up and extremely thin! Not clean whatsoever and the “ bunk-beds “ are not well made and about to break. I will attach photos so everyone can see what we are talking about, the photos are extremely misleading and I would have stayed at a motel for the price and quality. Parking is also horrible!!! DO...
