I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hampton Inn in Durango, Colorado, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt welcomed and at home.

Service (5/5): The staff at the Hampton Inn Durango went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. From the friendly front desk team who greeted me (Sarah especially was wonderful!) with warm smiles and efficient check-in to the housekeeping staff who kept my room immaculate, the level of service was exceptional. They were always ready to assist with any questions or requests I had.

Location (4/5): The hotel's location is ok for exploring Durango. It's located north of town, within walking distance to some restaurants and shops. I highly recommend Serious Texas BBQ and Zia Taqueria which are both within a short walking distance and delicious! It's not in the heart of town but a short drive to nearby attractions.

Room (4/5): I read some reviews about bugs which is very common in these areas. I live in Cortez and I encounter these critters even in my own home. And we are very clean. Durango is a mountain town and unfortunately these bugs are hard to avoid. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The only slight drawback was that the room size was somewhat on the smaller side, but this wasn't a major issue. The bathroom was a great size and spacious.

Amenities (5/5): The hotel offers a range of amenities that made my stay even more enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast buffet was nice, with a variety of options to suit all tastes. They don't have a fitness center but they do offer a pass to the Recreation center. They are also dog friendly which is a huge plus since we have a service dog. They have a little area for dogs to do their business which was great for our dog Frankie.

Overall Impression (5/5): In summary, the Hampton Inn in Durango, Colorado, met my expectations in every way. The outstanding service, excellent location, and comfortable accommodations make it a top choice for anyone visiting Durango. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, this hotel provides a welcoming and convenient base...

I’ve been in contact with Hilton (owner of Hampton Inns) since I stayed there.

There was a promise of a rate reduction of 50% in an email correspondence with them at the beginning of Nov and there has been no credit to my account.

I feel I was lied to because there has been no adjustment on my credit card and no other outreach to me.

When this first started I wasn’t expecting a thing. At most a minor adjustment to the billed rate. But when you say your going to do something and you don’t follow through the apology becomes a lie.

**See correspondences email below.

The hotel it’s self is fine and for the most part the front desk and associates are friendly. During my stay Durango was having an elder box bug outbreak and they were getting into the rooms. That being said it was only a nuisance.

Now, the problem I have and it’s the reason I won’t be staying at a Hampton Inn again. Is their check out policy.

I paid for 2 night. But during my trip I had to change plans and head back home. Yes it was a few hours after checkout time.

I expected that I’d have to pay a penalty for the late check out but was forced to pay for a room I wasn’t even going to be staying in. Their reasoning was that they had no one to clean the room. I’ve contacted corporate and they acknowledged the complaint and they said they would get back to me but it’s been 10 days.

Out of 40years of traveling all over the place I’ve only had to leave early one time before and they graciously refunded me the difference.

But not Hampton Inn. Not even a partial.

Upon reviewing the comments on the file, I see that the hotel team has acknowledged your concerns and as a gesture of apology, they have adjusted the rate by 50%.

We appreciate your kind patience and understanding.

I arrived at the Hampton Inn-Durango after Riding the Durango-Silverton Scenic Railroad from Silverton to Durango. This hotel is located north of Downtown Durango and there are no restaurants within walking distance. There is Lyft/Uber available but be prepared to wait as there were only a couple of drivers available and both were busy with other rides. Upon arrival at the Hampton Inn, I was greeted by a very friendly and professional front desk agent. Check-in was very quick, and I was soon settled in my room. My King room was spacious and very well appointed. The bed was well made and very comfortable. This hotel is located adjacent to Highway 550, but Road Noise was not an Issue. There is ample free parking available in a well-lit lot. The morning breakfast consisted of the usual, eggs, with meat, pastries, cereals, juice, and coffee. The Breakfast attendant kept the area well stocked and clean through the advertised hours. All the employees that I encountered were very friendly and professional. Finally, some of the previous reviews indicated a problem with bug in their room. I am not disputing these reviews; however, I never encountered such a problem. I even asked the front desk agent about this issue, and they were more than happy to allow me to check the room before charging my credit card. I was very satisfied with my stay and would not hesitate to stay here again if I am ever...

If I could give a ZERO star rating I would. I booked a room here in July and when I arrived the front desk failed to mention any of of the following yet left a note in the room for you to find once you had already checked in. This hotel has a huge bug infestation issue. Specifically Box Elder bugs. This is a Colorado known issue but with proper infrastructure this should not impact a building. The hotel leaves a note in the room apologizing for their "hitch hikers" as they like to call them. So they are aware of the issue and don't tell you upon booking or check in. These bugs cover every surface, walls, windows, floors, beds, and eventually your luggage/clothing. When I called to complain they sent maintain up with a Scotch-Brite lint roller to "clean up" the bugs. There were hundreds of bugs. Due to exhaustion we stayed one night and left the following once we also discovered mold in the bathroom that they later denied was there even with our photo proof. The hotel refused to give us a full refund and claimed they would send 50% back via mail in 30 days which I have not received! Do not stay here! Disgusting and not sanitary! Well where do I start. Upgraded as a diamond member but man that was a rough night. Waking up to bugs crawling on you and all over the room is not something I thought I’d experience in Durango. Certainly checking out at 1130pm to go down the road to the Doubletree was neither cheap or ideal. What’s even crazier is the next day trying to explain the situation to the manager who told me they could not refund the night because and I quote “this is a well known problem and they are not harmful insects”. The audacity to suggest that it’s a common experience there is even crazier when just down the road there was no issue. In my life of travel I’ve never experienced the feeling of creepy crawlers but I guess at the Hampton Inn it’s ‘common’. Based on this…Marriott here I come. Avoid at all costs…still itching.

Unfortunately this hotel has an infestation of bugs. They tried to downplay it as they only go to the windows and are harmless, but there were 100s in our hotel room, all in the bed, guest were complaining and the manager and staff did try to ‘clean’ them up, but they came right back. There is signage everywhere in the hotel and they said ‘it’s on our website’, but it want when I reserved the room four months ago. They should have called and warned us, so we could have found a different hotel in advance, instead we found ourselves in a city with no rooms Available. Worked with Hilton to find rooms an hour away at 10:00 at night, but not enough beds, so one had to sleep in the floor. I would absolutely avoid this hotel!
