So we are from TX, we are surrounded by BBQ restaurants, we judge at BBQ cookoffs, and smoke our own BBQ and make our own coleslaw at home. You can smell a good BBQ from miles away. When we parked at your restaurant today, we couldn’t smell any BBQ. The inside of the restaurant didn’t smell like any BBQ at all. So I asked why and the girl at the front counter said that they had already pulled everything off for the day. By this time it was maybe 13:30. I ordered the stuffed baked potato, mac n chz, and chipotle coleslaw. My husband ordered the sampler. My stuffed baked potato was really yummy. The mac n chz was good too. The coleslaw was gross. It had no flavor. My husband who eats everything, couldn’t even put it down. I didn’t like the BBQ sauce, I’m not a vinegar fan. The ribs were tender. The sausage was gross. The brisket tasted baked and had no bark on it. The sampler is suppose to feed 2-3 people, it really only feeds 1. And comes with little sample cup size of sauces. The lack of smoke smell in the air and restaurant, was clearly presented in the lack of smoke taste in the food. The food wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t what Id call BBQ. The price was...
Read moreMy padre and I came up to escape the Texas heat and enjoy the mountains. Stopped by thinking it sounds good. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwhich with a mac and cheese side. My padre got the nachos. They were out of pinto beans so gave him extra pork. And we both ordered a peach cobbler. The ladies working the front are wonderful and polite, but the food was awful. See picture of brisket, and really zoom in. The fat caps were thick, unrendered and the entire thing was pink with no visible smoke ring and no bark to speak of a real grey color. When you call yourself Texas BBQ the bare minimum is a good brisket. To me it looked WAY under done. I swapped it out for the pulled pork thinking its hard to mess that up. Wrong again! Dry as all get out and even some was cooked so much it was hard. Ive never seen anyone do that to a pork butt in a smoker. Mac and cheese was basic, just cheese and noodles. Nachos were decent. And the peach cobbler had alot of mushy crust and very little peach. The sweet tea was good tho. This place should be ashamed to call...
Read moreMy husband and I consider ourselves barbecue conisuers, but not food snobs. We have enjoyed barbecue in several locations in the Carolinas and Texas along with the specific citIes of St. Louis and Kansas City. Our expectations were high as we approached the entryway of this restaurant. The aroma of smoked meat was in the air. While all the meat had great flavor, the smoked turkey was delicious and the rub used on the ribs was everything we could have hoped for, things went down hill from there. first, the brisket was considerably dry. Second, neither sauce offered was to our liking. While we have all experienced dry meat at one point in our lives, a great sauce can usually make the meat palitable. Nether one of their two sauces could save the day as far as we were concerned. We think it’s important that a restaurant provides choices when considering the fact that many of the customers are just visiting the area.
I’m sure the dry brisket isn’t there norm. If they add a few choices as far as sauces go, we would...
