Were to start...
Day 1 upon arrival our room was not ready. We where told over an hour wait. We already arrived an hour late due to traffic from our check in time. I was late for the event I was there for already. The app didn't work to check in, so we had to wait online to check in. Two things that I even called about were not available. Low floor and fatherless room. I had to explain that I was a 9/11 worker who has ptsd to get her to give us a lower floor and then there was none with a double bed so I had to call my friend and tell her she couldn't come. They had to defeather the room, so we put our stuff in and went to the convention. 2 hours later we came back and the room was still not done being defeathered. We went to the room and waited. A lady carrying everything in her arms came and changed the bed, leaving us with no comforter. Thank goodness there were 2 toilets in the room because one didn't work. There was no conditioner in either shower. The coffee maker was dirty and spitting out chunks of brown stuff. Starbucks was closed early or just not open so no coffee for me. The tissue box in the bathroom had one tissue left in it. The shower had dangerously hot water.
Day 2 the maids never came. We had to ask for towels to be brought up just to shower. Garbage had to be stacked on the floor because of the tiny garbage can being full. Since none of the drinks in the room were replaced nor having a usable coffee maker. I went down to Starbucks but they were closed early or never open again and so I had to buy water from the front desk. It cost way too much! We decided to go for a swim. The pool was really cold and we couldn't stay in long at all, so we went up to shower. The the fire alarm went off while we were in the shower. Upon entering the stairs people where yelling keep the door open. The door to get out of the stairs was locked and they were all stuck. We went across to the other side stairs, where they found the doors were working. Then the alarm stopped. All this over some smoke from a microwave. We finally get back to our room, and the neighbors were loud through the wall and in the hall for over an hour. The sound proofing needs work.
Day 3 We got up and packed up to leave. I went down to the front desk to get a cart and was told you had none. She just stood there. I expected her to offer to let me know when one was back. Maybe even have it brought to the room. But no just stood there. I said what can we do to get our luggage out. She then directed me to a guy by the door. He was kind and said there was 2 just sitting over to the side. I took one and we finished checking out.
As a single mom who is struggling this is the first time I've been away from home in 6 years. I had to for work, but I really was hoping for a nice time and a place I could pretend to be far away at. I'm so very disappointed.
I will never choose to stay...
Read moreHonestly, I've been to 1 star hotels in 3rd world countries that provide better service than this supposed "4 star hotel".
Let us start with the pre-arrival procedure. I called around 5 PM on March 16th alerting the staff that we would all be arriving late around 3 AM as we were driving down from Toronto, Canada, and to remind the staff of our requests to have our rooms adjoining or at least on the same floor. We arrived around 4 AM - the staff checking us in was completely clueless. From charging $200 for incidentals and not being able to tell us what the charge was for, to not even telling us where to go after checking in (ie, elevators are down the hall to the right.)
The following day (Thursday), we went down for Starbucks as was advertised to us. Little did we know that Starbucks is only open from 7 AM to 10 AM on Sat/Sun. Moreover, it's not even Starbucks - it's Starbucks being served in your cafe. We also did not get any housekeeping on Thursday. Thursday night at 7 PM as we headed out to our event, I asked the lady at the front desk to arrange for housekeeping. She noted my room number and said no problem, it'll be done by the time you come back. We came back to a dirty room at 1 AM.
Friday - we FINALLY got housekeeping!! Imagine 2 days worth of dirty baby diapers and baby wipes in the garbage. However, this was the 2nd day in a row where our room keys did not work. We went downstairs and asked the manager, Andy, whom told us "oh these keys hate magnets." - funny thing is, we weren't near any magnets at all. Anyway, the room key worked - until the next day. I went down again on Saturday - I was told that because we had 2 separate reservations, the room key deactivated. However, I had one single reservation from Wednesday until Monday, so I am not sure what Andy was talking about. This became a recurring theme and even tonight, on Sunday night - I've been down there 3 times today, with my key not working. Today, I also had to run down the hall to the housekeeping service and ASK them to please clean my room because I had dirty diapers sitting in my garbage. Andy mentioned how housekeeping only occurs every other day - this would have been an amazing thing to mention at check in!
Anyway, this is frustrating and I will likely never choose another Sheraton hotel ever again. Not to mention, when I was at the front desk - so many other guests were offered a free breakfast, for even more minor...
Read moreMaybe I just don't travel enough? The last dozen hotels I've stayed at have a buffet-style complimentary breakfast. The Sheraton Edison NJ has the same subpar buffet-style breakfast, BUT, they charge you $18 for it! I don't mind paying for food, but this is just a complete rip-off. This isn't a sit-down, the waiter takes your order, and made-to-order breakfast is brought to your table. This is a buffet with mediocre breakfast for 3x or 4x the cost of a made-to-order breakfast at pretty much any diner on earth.
To make matters worse, there is no warning or indication that you're about to buy an $18 buffet breakfast with powdered eggs and stale toast. No sign warning you as you enter the breakfast area that you're about to embark on one of the most overprices culinary experiences on the planet. If there was, it certainly wasn't made to catch your attention.
So you walk through the prison cafeteria-style line, get your sloppy eggs, shriveled sausage, stale toast, and unripe apple, sit down to eat, and are immediately greeted by a "waitress" that asks if you're a member of some kind of club or if you have a "coupon". If not, she quickly brings you the bill to show what kind of mistake you just made.
So that's my main gripe, however, it doesn't end there. The walls in this hotel are paper thin. I thought the guys next door to me were IN my room. I was awoken at 2:30 am by a woman screaming at her kids about 2 floors above me. I was certain someone was breaking in my room at one point but realized it was just the people next door opening their room door.
There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. So keep the door open when you shower, but the mirror will still fog up.
The water comes out of the showerhead yellow. Not sure what that is, but it's not inviting.
Stains on the ceiling. No real heat to speak of in the bathroom. Beds are some of the most uncomfortable things I've ever slept on. They have to be the absolute cheapest mattress you can buy.
All this for more than an average hotel stay. It was explained to me that the breakfast is $18 to keep the room cost down, but the room cost was already higher than some other hotels in the area, so that doesn't make any sense at all.
I don't normally write a lot of reviews on things, but this place was terrible. The ONLY thing positive I'll say is that the staff seemed...
