Hotel front desk, housekeeping and breakfast personnel are the best! They all are very friendly personable and accommodating! Called front desk and spoke to housekeeping personnel (Jennifer and Mia) near our room and asked for more trash bags, towels and wash cloths and even asked them to come and pickup the trash or dirty towels and washcloths and change the sheets blankets and pillow cases on our bed and they did everything that we requested immediately! Breakfast personnel, Jessie and Mary are very nice, Jessie gave me a rectangular shaped leftover box that I could use as a tray since they don't have trays and I used that every day following to get breakfast and take back to my room. Jessie and Mary fix the waffles, they tell everyone that only they can operate or use the waffle maker machines. Mary always asked how many sets of plastic forks knifes and spoons do I need and she did the same with the butter and syrup for the waffles. They both put the waffles on a plate and give it to you. They would greet you and gave sincere friendly conversation too. The door to the pool was not working when we wanted to take a look at the pool, we informed the front desk and when we returned to go to pool, the door was fixed. The workout or exercise room has dumbbells (5 pounds to 50 pounds), incline benches for bench press, treadmill, bicycle and elliptical machines, a big TV and a TV on each of the exercise machines. King bed room was small, a very nice TV that had Netflix installed, so we could login and play videos for our children and connect our laptop via HDMI cable and play our YouTube TV shows, one desk chair, no sofa or couch, a refrigerator, no kitchen set; the sink and shower had very low water pressure and the toilet was nice. We were given a room near the door to get on one side of the hotel, so that was nice, we didn't have to go through the lobby to get in and out of the hotel and we didn't have to get on the elevator. They were making renovations to the hotel, building a car port at the front door and rhe walkway in the front near the hotel. I parked near the handicap parking spaces and the front desk asked me to move my vehicle. I moved my vehicle and the owner of the hotel approached me and said I've seen you and we appreciate you. That was a nice gesture, was not expecting to see the owner and or speak to him. Called front desk about future reservations and even asked to see bigger rooms and they showed us 2 of their larger rooms; their executive king and executive queen rooms. They even told us that all hotels in the area are usually booked for the Elizabeth City State University...
Read moreRead morePretty upset with this place right now. I just stayed there on Monday and Tuesday of this week. I ended up leaving a VERY expensive Brookstone charger in my room. I called as soon as I unpacked at my next hotel. The guy at the desk acted like he cared and said that he would call me back after he "checked" around. He then called back to say that no cord was found in my room but that he would have the morning manager check with the cleaning staff and call me back this morning. When NOON rolled around I still hadn't gotten a call back. I then called the hotel. The morning manager was never notified of my call the night before. I got the same answer from her and she said she would call me back. She called about an hour later to say that no one had turned anything in and my cord was not in the lost and found. I KNOW that someone on their staff took my cord. She said that maybe the cleaning staff "over looked it" and that someone was now in that room with a "Do not disturb" on the door so they couldn't check the room for me. She said she would call me in the morning after that person checked out. This cord is 10 feet long with a large adjustable monkey knot on the end. There is NO WAY that the cleaning staff "Missed it". The cost of this custom cord is over $40. I have left items in the past at other hotels because I travel a lot. I have always gotten a call the next day saying "Mr. Kirk you left your xxx in our room, let us mail that to you". Not this place! My suggestion is that if you stay there beware of leaving any items of importance because it may not be there the next day. I am going to reach out to the General Manager to see if he or she will help. I am a Gold Rewards Member. I hope that treat me as such. Ill update this review if they do the right thing.Update: The GM called me the day after this review posted. She has offered to do a full review of the staff working the days of my visit. She also offered to refund the amount of the charger from my room total. This is exactly how you handle a situation like this. She said she would call back me back Monday. This is a step in the...
It’s an ok hotel to stay in during a visit to Elizabeth City. Evening front desk staff was friendly, professional and very helpful during check in. Explained why we got a fourth floor room even though we asked for first floor. |Room is comfortable beds: well taken care of: credit to the housekeeping staff: bathroom needs work as there are obvious issues needing to be corrected. Baseboards loose, caulking missing etc. |also discovered either a large water bug or a roach in the bathroom middle of the night. It did not survive the encounter|You are a few minutes drive from downtown EC so getting there is not bothersome. |Continental breakfast is standard However —I think it’s pretty funny- the young lady in charge of breakfast is definitely in charge. She will make your waffles for you. Will not brook arguments of discussion on the matter. She does not want to clean up after you or your kids running amok. Do not cross her. Bring your holiday family dinner manners or she is going to give you the same look /glare your momma gave you when you acted up. Don’t plan on taking more juice than the cups allow (I filled a 20 oz personal cup with cranberry and apple) because she will call you on it. I just did not want to be walking back and forth during breakfast. Someone used a coffee cup for juice and got the same treatment. (“I believe that cup is for coffee or tea”) I supposed should be grateful she wanted me to get more exercise. |Day time desk folks were helpful with suggestions on places in the area to eat (or to avoid-if you are a restaurant in the area I would suggest getting on their good side) plenty of parking and check out is smooth (unless the person in front of you is being difficult) desk folks are like talking to family. |I still don’t understand why-if check out time is 11 am-the hotel internet schedules to disconnect you at midnight. It is bothersome on a three day stay to have to reconnect each morning. |Overall a decent nights sleep and a reasonably comfortable stay for a...
