Mattress Firm Tanglewood Pavilions — Hotel in Elizabeth City

We had the best experience purchasing a bed from Mattress Firm in Elizabeth City, NC on 3-13-24. I called the afternoon prior to ask a couple of questions, which were answered in the most professional, polite manner. After ending the call, I told my family, "That was the nicest young man I just spoke with! His name is Raymond, I defiantly want to go to that store tomorrow based solely on the excellent customer service I just received on the phone!" Good customer service is hard to find these days, but this young man was awesome! The next day, we walked into the store at Tanglewood and were greeted & welcomed by a very kind young man. I knew as soon as he greeted us, this was the same man I had spoken with on the phone. I said, "your name is Raymond, isn't it?" He acknowledged that it was, and I thanked him for the excellent customer service the evening before. He helped us navigate the process of choosing and purchasing a king size mattress and platform bed frame with the same professionalism and kindness I had received over the phone. I told him his customer service is what drew us to his place of business. We certainly had other options but are so pleased we had the pleasure of meeting and doing business with Raymond! I purchased a Beautyrest mattress from Sam's Club believing that it would be the perfect mattress for me. After about 30 days I realized there was no way I could keep this mattress for 10 plus years and returned it. I went into Mattress Firm in Elizabeth City and met with Addy. I asked multiple questions about multiple mattresses and Addy answered all my questions with patience, care and concern. She was extremely knowledgeable about every mattress and not only that she knew the difference between each brand and each level of mattress and what they had to offer. I told her I wanted a mattress that felt a little more than plush but maybe not as firm as medium and I know that is laughable but that is what I needed to sleep comfortably. I also told her I had aches and pains from arthritis and scoliosis in my back and needed a mattress that would relieve pressure points. In addition, I needed a mattress that would offer cooling properties as I sleep very hot. We narrowed it down to three mattresses in my price range and ultimately she helped me choose the perfect one. I’ve been a regular customer over the last several years furnishing multiple bedrooms in 2 different locations. Recently, I made another purchase and decided while finishing the first purchase to make another purchase for the other property. The second purchase would’ve meant removing the mattress platform I’d purchased in 2021 from the same store. Incidentally, the 2021 delivery and setup included putting the platform together and then placing mattress on it. Imagine my frustration when I was told that for the new purchase they’d deliver my box spring and bed frame but that they would not take away the platform because it’s considered furniture! This policy is unbelievable and stupid. I was told that I was on my own in dismantling the platform. In 2021, I’d purchased 2 mattresses and 2 platforms and I didn’t see either one assembled because they did it so fast. I’m not interested in trying to figure out how to take the platform apart.
