My second time at the new location. First time was great. Food was perfect, waitress was wonderful. We went a few times to the old location. And the last 2 times were bad. So decided to try it again. Like I said, we loved it. And it's charming inside. We praised it. Now, let's get to yesterday. 😬 Before I take my granddaughter back to her parents after 2 days. We have a routine. Its thrift store shopping then a lunch. She is 3. She loves everything chicken and ice cream. And because my last experience, went there again. Ordered us a plate to share and a shake for her. Food came out super fast. Which is a sign it's precooked and sitting under a heat lamp. Okay, that's fine. She's a kid, she don't know good food yet. But...... I do. Waitress brings food. Immediately I tell her, this is all over cooked. She brings me tator tots. Cold, limpy tutor tots. No replacement on the chicken. I like crispy chicken. I tried to eat a piece. All you can taste is burnt breading on the chicken. Drowning it in sauce, could not cover the taste. My granddaughter takes a bite. Spits it out. She may not know good food, but she knows burnt. I call the waitress back. Tell her the chicken is burnt.... now, this is the part that upsets me. Waitresses work for tips. Cooks have a set salary or hourly pay. Why in the world would you take that to a table? And assume someone will eat it, be happy and tip you? You may work for this restaurant, but that table is yours! You own that table. You treat that table the way it will reflect you and your tip. It doesn't matter that the cook made it. You still made the decision to serve it. Instead of telling the cook, make it again. I am not serving this. I don't care if it takes 20 minutes to remake. You looked out for your table. And that would have reflected your business and tip. I told her take it back. And not remake. No apology. Yeah they took the chicken off. Good. But still paid for everything else. No manager came to rectify the situation. It felt like eating at a McDonald's. Where you don't expect good food or service. Yet, because she was young and probably too timid to speak up to the cooks. I still tipped her. But, I won't be back. And I manage a place that could help your business, I won't recommend it. Not anymore.

Stopped by, was glad the chairs were not placed in the drive thru lane, but I saw the chairs on the grass near the drive thru and I've seen the chairs placed in the drive thru lane recently while washing my car next door at Tidal Wave. Ordered a steak sub sandwich with everything on it, which includes meat, cheese, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Was not the best I ever had and onions seem like they were not fully cooked. Young lady at drive thru window was nice. Took 5 to 10 minutes for me to get my food. 10 months prior, my review was as follows: After this location closed for several weeks and now back in business, the personnel looks different. No longer a mix of people. The guy taking orders for the drive thru had smart responses to me. I asked for a full Philly cheese steak sub sandwich.. I told him that because someone gave me meat only and no bread or bun in the past, so I specified sandwich because I wanted bread. When I got home, it looked like a sloppy Joe sandwich! I was expecting a 12 inch footlong Philly cheese steak sandwich. That is enough to turn me off from this place. One year prior, my review was: The servers here are all beautiful friendly young ladies. The cooks in the back always do an excellent job cooking the food. Plenty of parking and seating inside. I think most of the servers wear shirts that says, Love your neighbor on the back of their shirts. Amen! Chick fil a needs to step up and cannot compete with this restaurant!!! Click my profile and you will see why I say that. Originally, my review was Ordered online, our food was ready when I arrived, food was amazing.

I was down in Elizabeth City last Saturday and decided to stop at Hwy 55 for lunch. It's located across the road from the big Walmart shopping center just off the Route 17 bypass and there's a carwash next door to it at the entrance. The first thing I noticed upon arriving, it was jam-packed. There wasn't a parking space to be found. I ended up using the drive-through. The world's slowest drive-through. There were 2 cars in front of me, and it took almost 15 minutes to get to the window. Once there, I spent another 10 minutes waiting for my food, and then a couple more to get my drink. They seemed understaffed and overwhelmed. The person I spoke to in the drive-through was very friendly and accommodating. With my minor complaint out of the way, the food ended up great. I ordered their BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger combo and it was a bacon cheeseburger topped with a large onion ring and then coated in a BBQ sauce. The burger portions were good and it was delicious. The fries were also good. A slightly thicker cut than say a McDonald's fry but just as crispy and tasty. All in all, I enjoyed my meal. Next time I pop through I'll look to see how crowded it is first.

SHELLFISH ALLERGY BEWARE! I visited tonight with my better half, upon opening a JB&B chicken sandwich we found a fried shrimp on top of the chicken but below the bacon. I called the waitress over to explain what we had found and that I was allergic. She then proceeded to tell me she wasn't gonna say it didn't happen. I told her you cant it's right there on the table just come off his sandwich. That I was just trying to let them know it did happen and that the law says you have to keep those separate for people like me who have allergies. She apologized said she'd take the tots that were also cooked with it and take them off the bill. After she walked away I felt like it was blown under the rug like not a big deal so I asked to speak with the manager, who was also cooking?. He comes over I tell him about the shrimp, my allergy and my concern in not seeing any concern from anyone over it. So he informs me "firstly, I didn't cook your food, I know who did but I did not. I apologize for the mistake and will speak to our new cook about it and how that simple mistake could be bad for someone's health" he made many excuses about how he could have gotten the oils mixed up or fryer baskets and had a left over shrimp, slam full of excuses. i tried telling him that it's a huge mistake because it could have killed me. He then says well what do you want for me to do for you today. I told him I dont want you to do anything but realize the severity of this. If I had eaten it or anything contaminated I could have died. He proceeded to say hed give the meals for free, then back tracked and said just my meal, then came back with receipt and he had refunded only my boyfriends sandwich and charged for mine, a fry and 2 drinks. So basically my life was worth a chicken sandwich 6.89. No cleaning of fryer, no true apology or acknowledgment of what it meant for someone in my shoes. I will never visit again and will warn others of this danger. I am sure by the responses on the rest of these reviews they are not taken seriously by management. But at least maybe someone else with an allergy won't go in and die from "a simple mistake" very...

Relatively new in town & we were looking for someplace accomidating for the family. From the outside Hwy 55 looked like it had a fun vibe, and since you really can't go wrong with burgers and fries in a toddler's world, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it turned out to be a poor choice. Upon walking in the weightstaff were present, but not particularly friendly. We took a seat & our waitress was prompt in taking our drink orders & providing menus but from there service took a turn for the worse. While waiting for our food my husband & I began to notice cleanliness issues (including the bathrooms, condiment caddys & floors). With 8 staff members on the clock (and there only being 3 other SMALL groups of people in the dining room) there is no explanation as to why cleaning was subpar, at best. With a 98.5 restaurant grade posted, I had higher expectations. If the staff have time to congregate at the counter drinking & counting tips, there is time enough for cleaning & more attentiveness towards the guests. The food was very disappointing. My 'grilled' chicken (which was actually cooked on a flat top griddle) was dry & unexciting. Basket presentation was sloppy & I had soggy onion rings under my sandwich. My husbands burger (which he was required to receive 'well done' as they do not cook temp to order) lacked seasoning and the sauce was very overpowering. The best part of our families meal was the nifty little car shaped cardboard basket our 4 year old's burger & fries came in. Upon finishing our meal (which does not take long with a 1 & 4 year old) we waited a good 10+ min for our check. My husband ultimately had to go to the counter to ask for it. Our overall experience was not at all what we'd hoped for and ultimately felt like a waste of $30. We will not recommend Hwy 55 nor do we plan...
