My dog & I evacuated Hurricane Florence, staying two nights at the Inn in Elizabethtown. The motel lobby & the room were very clean & well-maintained .....the inspection grade given by a state agency was high & was displayed, as mandated by law, in the lobby. The staff was very friendly, helpful, & always on stand-by if a need were to arise. I felt very safe there....safe from the storm & safe, overall. As a very serious weather situation was expected, the hotel was at capacity.....the only availability for me was a smoking room, to which I agreed, even though I am NOT a smoker.....that was a negative for me, but I could not stay in my home, so this was my alternative. The room was such that the raging storm was hardly perceptible unless the door was opened .....that was a plus for me Through no fault of the hotel, electric service was lost on early Friday morning ......the temperature was hot & humid. The room window could not be opened. I would suggest a generator for the motel, or windows that can be opened to provide ventilation. Of course, the cigarette odor was intensified in the room as there was absolutely no air moving. I felt that the room rate of $99.95 plus taxes per night was a bit high for our area, but I have no knowledge of what the "going rate" per night is during a "normal" time, or the charges of other motels during times of disaster. Due to the passage of a law after Katrina that accompanying pets of storm evacuees CANNOT be turned away from housing, I was happy that my fur baby could be with me; however, I was NOT informed that my debit card charge would include a $30.00 PET FEE. In fact, I did not know about this fee until I checked with my banking institution. I was a little concerned that this fee had not been communicated to me by the desk attendant. With consideration of the all of the circumstances of my motel stay, I would rate this motel as average or above. I would recommend the motel to others, & I would be a guest there again in an...
Read moreI experienced the worst thing that can ever happen during a Hotel stay. On Thursday Sept. 22, 2022 I booked a room at approximately 10p.m. I was exhausted from a long day of traveling. The room was gloomy with bedspreads that featured holes in them and battered lamp shades giving the room a very horror film feel to it. So my night was restless and at approximately 2am I DISCovered I was being eaten by bedbugs!!! I continuously called the front desk to no avail. So I stood up mostly the whole night, sitting only a few minutes at a time. That wasn't even the scariest part of the night either because at 3:30 am the POLICE came banging on the door ordering me to open up!! I was So afraid but eventually opened when I felt I could trust their badges. They informed me there was an open 911 call from the Hotel causing them to check every room! By 7am someone was in the office I explained my traumatic night, showed pictures and everything, only for the manager to tell me I would not not be granted a refund, partial or anything until He call his own bedbug ppl out to investigate. It has been several days and I've heard nothing. When I call He's very sarcastic and acts as if I'm bothering him and like I deserved to pay $110 for the worst night ever. All I wanted was some rest and I would have gotten better rest just sleeping in my car. So disappointed with the service and treatment I was received...
Read moreThis is the only hotel in Elizabethtown, N.C. I recently came down to attend a funeral and I told the attendant that I had allergies, so he booked us in room 109. We changed our clothes before going to the funeral. The smell in the room was horrible! We went to the funeral in Bladenboro, N.C. and saw that we were near Lumberton, so we got a room there and returned the room key for the Knight's Inn. I was on Prescription medication for two weeks to counteract the effects of being in that room for about 15 minutes. The room was dirty and toxic to me. My was money was not refunded, but at that point, our health and well-being was most important. The health department, Chamber of Commerce or sheriff's Department or whoever has some power and influence in this town or city needs to investigate this business. It is my opinion that this business is a health risk to anyone who stays there. My rating of one star was given because it was the lowest value I could give. Pride in business was not a concept that was displayed. I really hope that my rating helps someone make an informed decision to not stay there until the problems there is fixed. I visit Elizabethtown, several times during the year because of family events. Please...
