Overall my experience at Hampton inn in lake Geneva was ok, but a few things really grossed me out and were pretty dissappointing when it came to guest services. When I got to the hotel room I did a walk through and noticed long black hair stuck to the shower wall in multiple places. I left to go to dinner and told the front desk about it, she agreed that it was gross and unacceptable, but i insisted my room was fine and I didn’t need to be moved, I just wanted that cleaned up. Two days passed and I noticed room service had come in when I came back from work that day, the bed was made up and tidy. So I went to check the shower and it was still there. I happened to be contacted through text by someone working at the inn by the name of Cindy, who asked how my stay was. I told her my only concern was the hair in the shower. She replied with “Housekeeping was in there today and cleaned. We have not been made aware of any issues.” Her nonchalance about it was surprising, and I told her that. I sent a video of the shower and of the hair stuck to it in multiple places and said now you’ve been made aware, to which she replied “Yes, I have, unfortunately no one can tell me what the issue was.” I told her obviously the disgusting hair is the issue, and she finally replied that it would be taken care of. Most of the hair was cleaned out, one strand was left in the bottom of the shower. I think it’s crazy how hard that was to get something like that taken care of. Later that day I went to lay down and noticed what looked like the same color black hair on one of the pillows. I didn’t even bring it up because it was like pulling teeth the last time, so I just didn’t use the pillow. I have pictures of the shower and the pillow, and screenshots of the conversation with Cindy. I wasn’t very impressed with the whole stay...
Read moreWe requested a handicap accessible room with the booking agency, they said they noted in our booking. I called the Elkhorn Hampton to confirm the booking and note.
Elkhorn confirmed the booking but there was no note. They said no worries, they'll note that we need a handicap room.
We get there after a long day at a funeral and thunderstorm only to find out the room booked for us was not handicap.
Person said all 4 handicap rooms were out of service due to a mechanical window covering not working.
Person said if were ok with taking one of those rooms he could give us a discount.
We needed and booked a handicap room we weren't too concerned about whether the curtains work. We just need some sleep and a place to wash up.
The clerk changed the room for which thanked him, and also inquired about the discount the mentioned. He said, oh, it would only be a about a .30cent savings. Really? Why did you even mention it then.
The bathroom was nice but it had a full size tub, not a walk-in or roll-in shower. Nor did it have a shower chair.
I asked the clerk for a shower chair and got a plastic step ladder. He said they don't have any shower chairs. I could have helped my wife into a shower chair if there was one. Instead my wife had to sit on the toilet to and wash and rinse with a wash rag.
One last thing, we brought a few bottles of water with us expecting to keep them cold in the small fridge. Only problem was there was no fridge in the room.
Nice place but definitely have room for improvements. Would not recommend for anyone who is in...
Read moreIt is unfortunate that I have to post a negative review for this location. Up to my last night there I would have given them a 5 star rating overall. Construction/updating rooms was taking place - no problem - except when your privacy is violated! I was booked for a two week stay; during the second week my room was entered by construction personnel, headboards and nightstand changed out, light fixture changed and a path of drywall chips and mess left from outside the door to between the beds. Chips of drywall were on the comforter. I did not give permission for anyone other than housekeeping to enter the room nor was I asked. My personal items were in this room along with all my prescription meds. When I showed the mess outside the door to the front desk clerk (who brought me toilet paper) he said nothing about construction people being onsite or possibly in my room. Couldn’t they at least vacuum up the mess after they were done? I stepped barefoot on a sharp plastic anchor that was by my bed. I checked out several days early. The front desk clerk apologized and stated they were to have asked my permission before entering the room and doing the construction - but no one did. Who does construction in a room without moving the guest first??? SO unacceptable! No follow up by...
