Quite good. The owners clearly take pride in the property and service. That makes all the difference.
We’ve stayed at a few places up here; came up this time for a wedding and needed a more or less last-minute reservation due to changes in the wedding plans.
First, We really appreciate how accommodating they were. We had to be at the wedding reception by 1:30, and wouldn’t be back until late in the evening. We know places up here don’t keep the front office manned all night, especially in the winter - and check in time wasn’t til 3, so we were concerned about checking in with our schedule. To our extreme relief, the Blue Door Inn folks were able to check in all three rooms in our party early - and even called me letting me know my room would be ready early since I asked about it in the reservation comments. I know they don’t have to do this, but they helped us out - so fantastic, and thank you!
Front desk was super friendly. Room was clean and heat worked very well on a very cold and windy January night in the mountains. Everything else was up to par - good hot water and water pressure, parking was no problem, and they had cleared the snow and ice. Nice toiletries in the room, fridge, microwave, good TV and WiFi was solid. Black-out type curtains in the room keep things private. Disagree with other reviews saying the heater was noisy - it was no problem for us at all on a below-freezing night, and I’m a light sleeper.
Overall fantastic for the price, and glad to say no problems here and all went well and we’d definitely come back. I stay at hotels 75 nights a year or so for work, so I’ve seen it all - and I don’t hesitate at all to recommend this place. Only issue: the entrance is a little hard to spot from the road at night when...
Read moreGreat place! The location was perfect! Super close to the RMNP entrance and the Stanley hotel. Also really close to everything in the town. The owners are extremely nice and willing to give travel advice and suggestions. The beds were comfortable and the whole room was clean. The sheets smelt like Gain laundry detergent and the bathroom was spotless. The shower had an amazing shower head that felt like a rainfall that was very appreciated after a long cold hiking day at the park. Because of covid they did not have a daily maid service but anything you need, they provided at your request. Breakfast items were also available to be delivered to your rooms in the morning as well and coffee was served every morning in the lobby. The tv in the rooms had the Netflix app so you could log in to your account and watch Netflix. The owner also mentioned that he was working on making other tv apps available on the TVs too. The room and the bathroom had heaters of their own which was a nice touch and much appreciated after a snowy day! The only 2 things I can say that I didn’t like was the main door was wood and since wood expands and shrinks it did not close properly. It was able to be locked but the door just didn’t fit in the frame all that great (however the owner mentioned at check out that he is going to remove and replace the wood doors soon) and my other thing I didn’t like was the A/C unit is a little too loud for me when it’s running. But overall I still would 100% recommend staying at Blue Door Inn! We will definitely stay again the next time we...
Read moreHusband and I were in town for a quick visit/wedding. I hadn't stayed at this particular motel before, but the reviews were good and pictures looked nice. It was a wonderful stay. Management took on this place about 4 years ago, we were told, and had to really turn this place around. They've done a great job. Everyone we encountered who worked here was incredibly nice and helpful. (Jeremy is awesome!) The room was super comfortable and clean -- loved that they had a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. The bed/sheets/pillows were awesome! I travel for work and we're put up in the nicest Hyatt's, Westin's, Marriot's, etc in the country, but these beds were just as comfortable as any of those nicer hotel beds. It was quiet despite being very full during the weekend. One little treasure that they have were old 90's/2000's DVDs in the main lobby with a DVD player you can borrow. We watched "Meet Joe Black" the first night we were there. The big trail system in Estes Park makes it possible to walk just about anywhere. We were able to easily walk to town with the trail system from the motel when we didn't feel like driving, which was a nice convenience. The pool and hot tub are a great attraction -- I'm just bummed we were too busy to use them! Also loved the sitting area/gazebos next to the pool. We would drink our coffee out there in the mornings. The A/C and fan controls worked well (I like to sleep super cold, so it's always a relief when an A/C system works well). Would...
