We enjoyed this hotel a lot. Location: Estes Park is kind of a "choose an adventure" type of place. I like this hotel because of the sweeping mountain views. It isn't as close to the downtown shopping/eating as some of the others options, but the view is amazing.
Room: The room was great. We were in a chalet suite. We had two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom, and kitchenette. Looking at the pictures, you can see that there is a fridge, sink, and microwave . . . but no stove. We decided to plan to eat one meal each day in the room. We choose things that did not need to be cooked. After our visit to the grocery store, we realized that there was a hot plate and electric skillet in the drawer. I am not sure if every one of the suites has them, but maybe check before making your list and going to the grocery store.
The only complaint that I had was the bed. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable. I saw later that they offer "mattress pads" not sure what kind of difference that would make, but we may try them if we choose to stay again. They were uncomfortable enough that it would possibly deter us from staying again.
We did run the jet tub one evening and ended up with a noise complaint because of it. We were nervous to try it again. It was very loud.
One of the bedrooms was a lock-off and seemed to have another lock-off door on the other side of the room. I would be curious about other configuration options for larger parties that wanted to share some space.
Service: the service here really seems to be top-notch. Every employee that we encountered was really nice and helpful.
Amenities: The indoor pool was a perfect temperature, and the pool room was warm. The outdoor hot tube was really big, nice, and clean. We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub. We were there in the winter and cannot speak for the outdoor pool.
The breakfast was lacking. I understand the complexities of having hot options on the breakfast line, but they lacked variety and most of it was commercially processed. It was yogurt (lower quality, sugary), bagels, toast, juice, packaged muffins, granola bars (again sugary), cereal, hard boiled eggs, and a waffle maker. Some less processed options would have been nice.
We loved the bonfire (with smores) in the evening. One night, we sat by the fire for quite a long time. The firepit has a lovely view, people coming and going and the opportunity to chat was so fun. The kids loved the popcorn as well.
Overall, lovely experience. We liked the location, views, service, pool, and the bonfire/smores/popcorn.
The "cons" are the uncomfortable beds and...
Read moreThis hotel had a lot of character! The features were wonderful, such as the jacuzzi in room. Also, we were surprised to find that they had stocked the kitchen with silverware, plates, cups, strainer, cutting board, etc.! It also had a full sized fridge which was very handy. The room was very clean as well. The deck outside was nice to enjoy the fresh mountain air. The breakfast was decent. There are two reasons as to why I did not give 5 stars.
Reason #1: We called the front desk and requested that housekeeping do NOT come in during our stay (we could not get the do not disturb sign to stay on the door, so we called) and they said they would make a note for them to not come in. We did not want them coming in for COVID reasons. The next day, we came back to see that they had been there (bed made, trash taken out, etc) so I called and the front desk person basically told me it was my fault, that the do not disturb sign should have been on the door--even though I had been told by the front desk girl the day before that they would not enter the room. We ended up having to tape the sign to the door to make it stay.
Reason #2: Noise! If you do not get the top floor, don't expect to sleep. We were on the second floor, and above us (come to find out) was a 2 bedroom family suite--you know what that means, KIDS. Our peaceful stay was consistently interrupted by noisy stomping above. Their ceilings are VERY thin, beware. The first time we called to complain because the people above were unbearably loud, nonstop stomping until 1130pm! The girl called them and they semi quieted, then started up again 30 minutes later. So the next day, we were hearing noise again, it was less intense but we assumed it would get worse as the night progressed, so we called to complain again, only for the incredibly rude girl who was working the desk to tell us "Oh well it's actually a new family above you but okay I guess I'll call them....." So I said "Well your ceilings must be very thin then, and there's obviously kids above us" and she told me it was a family suite. She very obviously never called them because the banging and jumping and running of the child continued.
Noise complaints are not taken seriously by them, and there are quite a few rude people working at the front desk. Lots of young adults/teens working the desk. Did not get names.
The room and atmosphere of the place was wonderful. If not for the unbearable noise, it would've been a perfect stay. I highly recommend making sure that you get...
Read moreUpdated 4/27/24 We decided to try this place again. Huge mistake. Check in was easy, the room we stayed in this time was definitely more updated and in better repair than the first one we stayed in however the fact that housekeeping barged into our room at 8am without knocking less than 7 hours after we checked in for a two night stay WHILE I WAS BATHING IN THE IN ROOM TUB. Not 3 minutes later maintenance did the same thing !! Front desk staff thought it was more funny than concerning and management never apologized just offered to let us check out a day early. As we were packing up our things the same housekeeper that barged in on my bath was standing outside of our unit recording videos on her phone of me standing inside the unit packing my things. Again manager and front desk didn't give a flying fork. Hopefully you guys enjoyed the free show, I'll be telling absolutely NO ONE to come stay here.
We were very excited to spend an extended weekend here based on the reviews. The location is good, the price was fair, and the room size was appreciated. What wasn't great was the fact that we booked The 3rd Floor Tundra Suite with the double jetted tub and the tub didn't work, the intake filter was busted off exposing a sharp metal piece, the breakfast table was literally held to the wall with caulking so if you even put your elbows on the table the whole thing moves. There were two lights out in the bedroom making it extremely dark , and one light out in the living room. The fridge was hot when we arrived and when we moved it up to the next setting it became so cold it froze everything inside there was no in between. All of the knobs were broken off the dishwasher that we could not operate without functioning knobs but aside from that it was not clean inside either. The TV in the master wouldn't connect to the cable box either. We placed a call to the front desk shortly after arriving to the room , the following morning my husband stopped by the front desk and there wasn't anyone around and no one answered the phone. We called later that afternoon and were told the manager would be in the following day but that they would send maintenence by. The next day maintenence did come fix the tub and the TV , although when we tried to activate the jets they just hummed. Never addressed the light bulbs we needed and said house keeping would just have to clean the dishwasher after we...
