I waited outside for 15-20 minutes with absolutely no response from the motel keeper (who lives directly behind the front office). When I finally got ahold of him over the phone he said “I know you’re here you’ve been ringing my bell forever.” THEN WHY NOT ACKNOWLEDGE US?! We heard his wife talking to him as he walked up she said “I think someone’s here” and he snapped back at her loudly “I KNOW I HEARD THEM” (if you see this, your wife deserves better) He came out nonchalant asking how we were doing and I responded “well not too good” immediately he became aggravated. When I said he had us waiting forever his first response was “DID YOU READ THE F*ING SIGN?!” Excuse me?!?! Mind you it was pitch black outside and pouring rain, so of course my first thought wasn’t to read a sign it was to get inside and check in. His response was ridiculously unprofessional and aggressive. I got defensive after he started cussing at me which he then responded with GETTING IN MY FACE!!!! He was no more than 4 inches from me and he smelled like alcohol, no wonder he was taking so long. Once I brought up the fact that he smelt like booze his whole demeanor changed and he became very calm, but at that point I was livid. Overall I have never experienced such an unpleasant & unprofessional man running a motel. We were about to call the cops but we had a pregnant woman in the car who really just wanted to get out of there. All he had to do was pop his head out and say “I’ll be right with you” and we would’ve been completely fine waiting, but he instead ignored us and then became aggressive when we expressed how unhappy we were. I still can not believe the way he acted and will never ever be returning here again. I will also be sure to post wherever possible how absolutely horrible this man was. HIRE...
Read moreThe accommodations were a perfect match for our needs. Very clean, quiet and walking distance to eating establishments, grocery store and gas station. The small fridge and microwave were very much appreciated. In order to hit the trails early, we were pleased to find that we could retire early and not hear a sound. The king-size bed was very comfortable and the AC worked great. We had very restful nights our entire stay! A picnic table is located on the property. This is a modest motel but so is the room rate. Be sure to pack your own shampoo, conditioner and kleenix. If you do forget...you can visit the nearby grocery store. A herd of deer bed down in the afternoons in the adjoining field. We have already made...
Read moreI really think this hotel saved my friend's life. She barely made it into Etna after getting really sick while hiking the PCT and needed a solo room to try to sweat out her sickness in peace. I drove 6 hours down overnight to meet her and take her to a doctor in the morning. The owners of this motel didn't charge us for the extra person in the room (which he could have since she was using the per-person PCT rate), and helped us search for a clinic and pharmacy open on a Sunday that would see my friend. Besides all that extra do-gooder stuff, the room was really clean, the king size bed super comfy, the shower was great, the a/c was powerful, and the toilet reliable....
