Payne Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast — Hotel in Excelsior Springs

We were attending a Murder Mystery Dinner in Excelsior Springs and decided to find a place to stay to avoid the drive home. We stumbled upon Payne Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast. We were amazed at the beautiful house and how it was set up as a Bed & Breakfast! Mark and his wife, the owners, used to live in the house but decided to change it into a nice getaway for guests. The house in the front has the largest room, but expect to walk upstairs, as that is where the bedroom is. The guests from the other three private apartment rooms stay behind the large house; they all meet in the big house (no pun intended) to have Mark's hot, homemade breakfast. Oh, I almost forgot! The house is so clean, I didn't find any old dirt in the corners of the floor, against the walls anywhere. I am semi-OCD and will not go without house slippers. Must Stay here! Clean, well stocked with everything you could think of. Yummy food, great coffee and top notch customer service. They have truly thought of everything. Extra soft throw blankets, extra pillows… great quiet ceiling fans (gotta have mine on to sleep)😴 Bed was extra comfortable and I slept like a baby. It was so quiet in the house. This will definitely be a yearly place to stop and rest at. This is the halfway point between my house and my parents. The shower and bathroom is huge too. My husband and I came down for our bestfriends wedding and the location was perfect. Mark who is the owner of this beautiful place was absolutely by far the most amazing host ever. He is always happy, very helpful, and knows a lot of history behind Excelsior Springs, MO. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in the Wardens Suite and the room was absolutely beautiful, clean, and cozy. Breakfast was amazing and I can say that my husband and I will be back. The Payne Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast will always be our little home away from home. There is so much warmth and kindness in this stay making it a bittersweet moment to leave.
