Great BBQ! We went here with family and had a great experience. I will say straight up; there was a sign on the door saying they are short handed and we may have delays. We had a great meal anyway. The restaurant is small and extremely laidback. They are there to serve great BBQ and provide impeccable service. Star, our server, was tremendous. We had 4 adults and 2 small children in our group. We easily sat at one of their large round tables, even with a high chair. We had fried pickles and Cajun wings to start. The pickles were spears and breaded just right. The wings were breaded, fried and tossed in a very good hot sauce. They were very tasty, however I felt they did not really have a Cajun flavor and were more like a red hot Buffalo sauce. As a group we chose 2 orders of the Piggy Back Combo. These huge platters of meat consisted of smoked meats, including turkey, ham, beef brisket, pork ribs and pork loin. All was very good and had nice smoky flavors. The sauce on the table worked well with all the different meats. We honestly could have fed all four adults on one platter. We had 2 large boxes of takeout leftovers. We chose side dishes of fries, cole slaw and baked beans. The fries and beans were good, but the cole slaw lacked seasoning. Overall, yeah, we loved Wabash BBQ and would recommend it, but don’t go here expecting anything fancy: just good food, great service and decent prices.

It's a great little barbecue spot. The sauce is great. The mushrooms are just ridiculous. We enjoyed everything we got. The meats are cooked very well, especially the ham and turkey. The onion straws are so good too. Live music. Was just a great experience. We will be back!

In 2016, Wabash was ranked 1/10 by Only in Your State. We wouldn't go that far, but with its historic setting inside an old train depot and a menu that delivers, it is certainly worth a visit. This was our 28th 'cue stop in Missouri, and the 378th in a BBQ journey now spanning 35 states. $51.73 plus tip purchased large plates all around. We started with a tasty appetizer of lightly breaded, deep fried zucchini. Recommended. For the mains, we opted for a half slab of baby backs with fries, and the Wednesday special (St. Louis style ribs and 2 pieces of chicken, namely a breast and wing), also with fries. All the meats were well smoked, moist and tender, the baby backs a little too much so. They were indeed “fall off the bone”; we prefer ribs that adhere to the bone when picked up, but separating cleanly at the bite. Two sauces, one a traditional KC style leaning to the sweet side, and a more peppery version, worked well on both sets of ribs. We walked out with leftovers sufficient for a second meal the next day, which increases the value here considerably.

Go somewhere else. The place is greasy, I think they wipe the tables down with yesterday's mop water. The food is mediocre at best. They put enough cheap whiskey in the beans that they're nasty, sausage is nasty to eat and leaves a nasty after taste, the ham sits in a water bowl long enough there is no smoke flavor left (walmart has better ham lunch meat), the brisket is either tough or dry depending on the day, most times you can order something only to have the waitress tell you they're out of that meat so you need to order something else. Then there's the wait staff!!! I don't know where they find that many 3rd grade trailer trash airhead waitress!!! 3 of them together couldn't rub 2 brain cells together. I've left $20-$400 tips for my waitress/waiter, the wait staff had to really screw up for me to not at least leave $20!!! This last time the waitress and bartender/manager told me I can order food to go but I can't eat it there, and if I want to eat there I can't order until I get there!!! You could have clipped me for at least another $40-$50 on drinks and tips!!! The waitress who told me this had her hands full with filling ketchup bottles, place was wide open as in less than 15 people in the place!!! Food is subpar AT BEST!!!, the wait staff is beyond dumb, you'll feel cruddy, sticky and greasy from rancid grease ON EVERYTHING!!! I'll go to Rosedale, Wyandotte BBQ, Bates city BBQ, even Warrensburg has a decent BBQ joint. But Wabash??? I've never left there thinking that food was worth it or good, so hard...

The situation A wedding rehearsal dinner October 7th 2016. I ordered catering for 30 people with a few extra pounds of meat. The event was 30 miles or so from the restaurant in Cameron MO. The delivery time was 7:00 pm. We ordered Brisket and Pulled pork for our meats. Along with beans, coleslaw and potato salad, The experience The food was delivered on time (up 3 flights of stairs) and hot. The delivery person was very polite and made sure we had what we needed. We had more food than we could consume. (I am not complaining because I got the leftovers). The brisket was outstanding. It was tender cooked to perfection. Everyone and I mean everyone loved it. Comments were made like "the best EVER!!". I must admit I can't recall having a better BBQ brisket sandwich!!!. Plenty left after everyone ate their fill. I loved the sauce it was great. We had a bottle of your regular and hot. I didn't use very much because I live to savor the flavor of the BBQ. Excellent tasting beans, slaw and potato salad. I again was lucky because we had plenty of leftovers. The pulled pork, prior to Friday, I was not really a fan. However, if everyone made pulled pork like Wabash that would change. The spices were superb again very tender and delicious. Not very much left, which should tell you how good it really was. I would recommend Wabash to anyone who has to cater an event. If you want an excellent BBQ meal, make the drive to Wabash BBQ in Excelsior...

I showed up with my children and another couple on Friday, April 9, 2021. It was my first time at this restaurant. I was told the wait would be 45 minutes. After an hour I inquired about the status of our reservation since we saw numerous parties who arrived after us going in to eat. I was told as a party of seven they had only one table that could seat us. I indicated we would happily split our party to get served quicker. The hostess told me we would be seated next, but 30 minutes later we were still not seated. It turns out they have a bar side and a dining side, with two different reservation lists! Finally, after a wait of an hour and forty minutes we were seated. Unfortunately, we had a waitress who was not interested in service and ignored us for a good fifteen minutes before taking our drink order. She only got worse from there. They were out of burnt ends so I ordered the sausage with sautéed onions. It had a good flavor but was super dry, which turned out to be the theme for everyone's food at the table. When I review a restaurant I look at three items, did I have to wait, how was the service once seated, and how was the food. In the case of Wabash BBQ, all three of these variables were absolutely horrible. There are very few businesses I have eliminated forever after one experience, but this place is number one on that list. There was not one redeeming quality about...
