NO STARS! I Had to put one smh. This place was horrible, shift manager must have been racist or she must have just gotten a promotion and was looking for a good time to ruin people's stay. Her name is Amanda Arroyo. My Guest and I had reservations for Thursday Feb 8th. But due to me living so far we got there after 12am on Friday Feb 9th. So we get to the room and it smells like nothing but moth balls and wet feet. Then I had to get a plunger from the front desk because my toilet was clogged up. We go to sleep wake up around 11am and go food shopping about 12pm and came back at like 4pm, I then had to call front desk again to see if they had a pan. I paid for a 1bdrm suite and it's supposed to be fully stocked with a pot and pan, silverware, plates, cups...The works, so why I had to keep calling for these things is beyond me. But, I say nothing because it's no big deal it is what it is, as long as they had it to supply. I then wait for this pan and instead of the pan I get this woman Amanda and some man that looked like he came from the street to accompany her at my door. My guest opens the door and I'm guessing because he is an African American man she automatically accused him of smoking weed in the room. My guest had absolutely no idea what she was talking about with her broken English but she proceeded to tell him there was weed smoke coming from our room. Now my guest tells her to come in and shows her that it is a incent that's burning (Due to the nasty smell from the morning.) So she turns around and says "No, That's weed!" LOL I thought you had to smoke weed, never knew they had them in incent form. Lol She tells my guest to come out to the hallway to smell and he's asking her what is he supposed to be smelling? She tells him the weed... My guest is explaining to her he smells nothing, if you was invited Into the room to check the premises and you saw and smelled absolutely nothing but tells my guest it smells in the hallway. It smells in the hallway but not in my room so it's me anyway? So she turns to him and says I am charging you $250 and walks away. Now first of all she wasn't charging him, she was charging me. As a shift manager it's your responsibility to speak with the person who is responsible for the room. Not a random person who opens the door. After hearing what happened I went to the front desk to speak to her and she is looking at me and seriously telling me that EXACTLY 100 people told her the smell was coming from my room. Lol I found that hilarious seeming as I'm not the only door on that floor but OK great. Just an FYI to her because she doesn't know anything about my guest and I. My guest has a defibrillator in his heart. Which means he has a heart condition, which means it would be absolutely stupid to even be smoking, I even explained to her that I even smoke cigarettes, but I go outside, our door was literally right around the corner from the outside exit, but because she saw a dark man open the door she quickly accused him of smoking, but when I approached her Hispanic self and myself as a Hispanic woman, she had absolutely nothing to say. What happened to all that mouth she had when she saw my guest? She saw me and her attitude turned Into just not wanting to fight anymore. Smh it's a shame my guest felt like he was being racial profiled there. I'm ashamed of her as a Hispanic woman to even be that way. Point blank she had no proof of whatever smell she thought she smelled coming out of my room. Not to mention that we hardly spent time in the room, so how can weed smell come out a room that has mostly been unoccupied for a day and a half? We have never had this issue in any other Homewood suites hotel. We have been to every Homewood suites in CT and this hotel is the only hotel who has ever accused us of anything. I will never come back to this hotel again! Smh Horrible experience at this Homewood suites! Im sure when housekeeping went into the room today they smelled nothing but incense. So no need for a deep cleaning for that room. Definitely want...
Read moreIt matters where you stay so just stay somewhere else! This was by far the worst Hilton property I have ever stayed in. I was traveling with family for a funeral. I am a Hilton Honors member so I checked in on my app and chose my hotel room number. When I got to the hotel and went to my room and pulled up the digital key my room had been switched to another room on the other side of the hotel. This hotel has a wonky layout. We proceed downstairs across the lobby and up the other elevator to get to our room. We booked a 2 bedroom suite. We walked into the room and it looked like it had not been sufficiently cleaned despite being told that the rooms were being cleaned and I could not check in earlier than an hour before our initial check in time. I mean even the dish soap wasn't refilled that's a quick and easy task.
We used the lysol we packed to spray the room down. My brother noticed a small black bug on his bed, this was the first of many & what led to our eventual move to another room. After purchasing clorox wipes, more lysol, and visiting with our family for a little while we went back to our room exhausted. After flights and a long day in the airport the only thing I wanted to do was sleep. This is when my brother discovered yet another bug in his bed and declared he was not sleeping in that bed and rightly so. Human hair is everywhere & there was pet hair in my bed because you guessed it this is a pet friendly hotel.
I proceeded to call the front desk on my cell phone because the room phone did not look like something that I wanted to touch. When they answered I began explaining the situation only to be interrupted by I him saying I don't know who you are or what room you are located in because most people just call from their room phone. As a person who has worked in the tourism industry, I know that you let people finish and offer a blameless apology but instead I was told that it was probably just ants. Now not only is this insulting to my intelligence because guess who has seen an ant before but no one wants to sleep with just ants. I was then told that he was speaking with another person and he'd call back
20 minutes & still no returned call. I go to the front desk in pajamas and he says tells me he forgot to call me because he was yammering with some other guests but shows me the note where he wrote it down to call me back. He switched me to none other than the room I had requested initially and checked me out of the one that I was in. Now my digital key won't work for the old room, so he gives me a physical key to get in to grab our belongings. This new room is back through that lobby & up the elevator on the other side of the hotel. We finally get there lysol and wipe things down. This one did look somewhat better but my sheets were definitely not clean, but at least it was bug free.
The next morning after finally getting a few hours of rest we leave to assist with funeral arrangements. While there I receive a message saying thank you for checking out and your receipt is in your app. Well guess who was still in town for another night as this was booked as a 2 night stay. During the time that I am supposed to be assisting with funeral details I am spending time talking to the desk.
I explain the situation after being on hold, repeating myself and re-explain this situation to another person I am told they have rebooked my night in my current room, and it will show as two separate bookings. I was assured everything was taken care of, not the case. After the funeral we tried to get into the room, but my key did not work. Got that resolved, slept, and we checked out. Later I checked my Hilton app, and I was not credited my points or stay for one of the nights. I called and explained the situation. My account was fixed for the most part and they offered me a paltry number of points for the inconvenience. I promised a call or email for more info, never happened. In summation dwell somewhere else. This was close to the funeral home and family members so that was...
Read moreGives the Hilton brand a bad name. One and done.
As usually stated, I travel a lot and have for 17 years. I switched to Hilton not long ago and will stay in a hotel between 2-4 separate trips a month. I wanted to try something that looked more like an apartment due to coming to this part of CT 4 or so times a year, typically for a week and as much as two weeks.
This hotel is not a good representation of the Hilton brand. Given I am seeing the occasional bad location I am starting to wonder if switching was a good idea.
Staff was great, very nice and ready to assist (or so i though). Breakfast is good, they do have a mixer for guests (with food) on Wednesdays. Grounds in the middle of the hotel are nice. Rooms are a good size and it is more like staying in an apartment. However, that is where the "nice" ends.
Check in was fine and I went up to my room. Some time overnight my toilet decided to overflow. Clean water, nothing disgusting though I did step in the pool in the middle of the night.
I had to go downstairs to use the bathroom the next morning before leaving for work. I reported this issue at roughly 7:00. "Consider it done, sir." And off to work I go. Back to the room, more than 12 hours later, after dinner with colleagues, tired and ready for a shower. Only the toilet wasn't fixed and continued to run, creating an even larger puddle. I went to the front desk to ask for a plunger.
I was told the issue had not been reported. She offered to put me in another room. I went up and repacked my unpacked clothing, meds, etc. and called the front desk. She asked me to come get the key because she was working solo. Fine, dragged my bags down to get the key for a room just down the hall.
Get in the new room to find a little trash scattered here and there. Honestly, no big deal. I picked it up and tossed it in the trash. However, there were little things not working properly such as the hot water in the sink wouldn't turn on, handle was stripped. Sheets had horrible stains, I should have gotten a picture.
Whatever.. went to bed and got up early to catch a flight. I was in the lobby the next morning around 4:45. Sign on the counter stated the staff was away. I wanted to double check my bill so I waited. I could hear the dinger going off behind the counter over and over but was getting increasingly impatient. I had to get out of there to catch a flight. Finally, the guy that didn't report the toilet walks out from behind the wall and said, "checking out?" I told him yes and that I needed a printed copy of my folio. "Sorry, I haven't closed out last night. I can't print it. Do you really need a copy?" I didn't have time to wait any longer so I opted out and he said it would be emailed and then used the exact same line, "consider it done".
All and all, bad stay. Too many misses to be coincidence. I would not suggest this location due to multiple other properties...
