I came to Dr. Edgar a few months ago to find a way to fix my knee issues. The first meeting went great, at the Storrs office. However, after that first meeting it went downhill. I tried requesting information regarding my diagnosis and treatment, and ended up having to wait an entire month to speak to him or his assistant. They were non-responsive and nobody in the office could help me. I called 5 times within a month, and left voicemails each time, to no avail. After finally getting a hold of his assistant, I was able to schedule a follow-up appointment in the Farmington office. I was told I’d be in and out within 30 minutes. This was not the case; I had to wait in the lobby for 15 minutes for my name to be called, then was directed to an examination room where I waited FIFTY (yes, 50) minutes to be seen by the doctor. The entire meeting was rushed and during the examination he moved my kneecap too far, which made a very loud popping sound and gave me discomfort. I winced and began to say something about my discomfort before he interrupted me and told me to relax and not worry about it. Um, what? Absolutely not. Obviously after that I’m not going to be relaxed. Overall he’s a nice guy but there is no reason for me to be FALLING ASLEEP in the examination room waiting to be seen. There was also no acknowledgment from him or any of the nurses that this occurred, no apologies. Just a rushed meeting. I’m very displeased with the way I was treated...
Read moreI've had a wonderful experience at UConn John Dempsey Hospital with neurology, not so much with the musculoskeletal institute... which is a shame. Scheduling has been a nightmare, customer service is not accommodating and unpleasant to speak with. I feel forced to go elsewhere for a second opinion simply because of their scheduling, unhelpfulness, and lack of follow-through/completion with paperwork and documentation. Any time I call or go in for an appointment I feel like I am a burden to them ... unfortunate
Update March 2024: I ended up getting a second opinion due to all of these red flags, and frankly I felt very overlooked even by the provider I was seeing because of my young age. I was told my spine looked beautiful based off my x-rays and exam, and I'm young so I will bounce back in a few weeks and don't need further imaging/treatment. My pain continued to worsen. After seeking a second opinion, immediately I was told my X-rays look suspicious. Further imaging revealed two herniated discs. I feel so much time was wasted in my treatment at UConn and my concerns were constantly ignored. Truly a shame since I've had great experiences in neurology, but I will never return to the musculoskeletal institute or let a loved...
Read moreAfter plenty of preparation with two of the doctors at the spinal institute I was absolutely confident that my back would get better. There were some weeks there where I had to be patient for the MRI results and other details and the process was well worth the wait. Each time I went for a checkup or for information and to look at X-rays and MRI results I walked in to the front room and was always greeted with a smile and competence by the front desk girls I was actually very fortunate to get Dr Singh and Dr Walker as my specialists. In the end we chose not to have surgery as a team and I can say that it might be a long road, but I'm very confident that the doctors will help me heal. I highly recommend the musculoskeletal institute at UConn to anyone who's experiencing discomfort or pain in any part of the spine. The entire process is absolutely worth...
