Motel 6 Fort Worth, TX - North — Hotel in Fort Worth

This place is DISGUSTING. I will never stay here again and in fact, I'd recommend no one else does either.

I usually try to leave nice reviews, or at least find something redeeming, but the entire experience was bad from start to finish.

Check-in began with the desk clerk opening a slot in a dirty Plexiglas window for me to hand him my ID and credit card (there was a lobby area, but apparently it wasn't actually meant to be used as it was locked down) and then feeding my key card back through that same slot. Little tip from someone who works in the hotel industry: NOT a great way to leave a positive first impression.

Once I drove around the building a couple of times to find my room, since he never told me where it was, I parked near some dead bushes and CrimeStoppers posters and walked under some metal siding/pieces of gutter hanging off the upstairs walkway to access my room on the first floor.

It only got worse from there.

The motel was located right next to the Fort Worth train yards, and with those paper-thin walls (seriously, I could make out entire conversations og people talking in a normal voice in the parking lot outside) I was up most of the night listening to those train whistles.

I had brought my own pillow and blanket as a precaution, and that turned out to be a great thing because the sheets were stained and covered in hair, and after seeing that I didn't dare use the pillows, so I slept on top of the covers with my own blanket instead.

The toilet was the only decently clean thing in the bathroom. The towels had large brown stains on them that looked like old blood, the sink had trash stuffed into the drain, and the smell of cigarettes wafted up from the shower drain when it was turned on so there were probably some in there.

The room also had roaches (and I mean BIG roaches - one measured 1.5 inches!) I saw one crawling along the wall and killed it - see attached photos - and another running across the nightstand later, which I caught in the same Tupperware container as the first and sealed away to die.

Oh, and did I mention the crime problem that seems to be an obvious issue there? As I was driving back up to the motel around noon on Saturday (I was in FW to attend a dog show and was finished for the day) two police SUVs drove up, lights off, forced their way into a man's room and took him away. Drug dealer? Successful sting operation? Murderer? I don't know, or care. All I know is I will...

I made my online reservation for a 13 day stay and specified a non-smoking, downstairs room with military rate. I had confirmed this with the national reservations number because the military discount did not show on the confirmation page. They told me the military discount would be applied upon checkin. When I arrived I was informed that my room was an upstairs room. There was also a discrepancy in the rate quoted vs the one I was getting. Military rate does not apply if a weekly rate is given. ??? I had been told differently by the 800 number desk. The desk clerk on duty was very understanding and tried everything he could to help figure out a solution. He worked with me on the rate and he was able to find a room on the main floor. However, the room he found on the main floor turned out to be horrible. It had not been properly cleaned in ages... the floor was coming up so badly there were trip hazards, dirt on walls and in corners and FUZZY MOLD in the shower!!! I couldn't turn on the heater because of the fuzzy stuff growing in the hvac unit and worst of all it smelled like a dozen chain smokers had camped in there for a month! It was late, I was exhausted and had an early appt, so I stayed there that night, but I was expecting my daughter and grandkids to join me so that same desk clerk got me moved to another unit that was what I have come to expect from Motel 6. Clean, decent, not fancy, but certainly acceptable.

Housekeeping issues. We were satisfied with just changing out the towels on a couple of days, but even when we left it expecting service, there was none. I finally asked for clean sheets and changed the beds myself. We were there for nearly 9 days without even being offered a cleaning.

There are several full-time residents in the facility, and the maintenance is not up to par. It's 'conveniently located' to the freeway, which seems to attract some sketchy people, two of whom I encountered in the laundry area. They were crouched down so as to not be seen by employees. No cameras in that area. Turns out they were just there charging cell phones, but it is a bit unnerving to deal with that.

Bottom line: GREAT desk clerk (Happy is his nickname), need better management/accountability of housekeeping, need a LOT of maintenance outside and...

Ime and my family got a room for a week and check out time came and I told the front desk guy Jay that I would like the room another day and he told me I wasn't supposed to be able to stay at the motel because I was banned from there I asked him for what reason and at first he couldn't tell me for what reason but he said that he would let me stay 1 more night so I told him ok let me get my card and I will be back .I saw him on the way back to the office and I told him I was ready to pay him so I went to the office and waited about 15 minutes so I got tired of waiting so I went back to the room about another 10 minutes and I went back to the office and saw front desk guy Jay and he told me that the reason I was banned from the motel was that I trashed a previous room and I told front desk guy Jay that I never trashed any hotel I ever stayed at so my wife had said a few choice words for front desk guy Jay after he told us the room was going to be more money than we had paid previously (was $73 went up to $88) so my wife had a little attitude with front desk guy Jay so he called my wife a smart ass and started talking trash to us and said that we could only stay 1 more night because we had trashed a room we never stayed in I tried to defuse the situation and said ok let's start over and then he proceeded to cuss at me and talk to me crazy so I lost it and got in front desk guy Jay's face and gave him a piece of my mind and cussed him out not something I'm proud of but it happened . After that he told me to leave his property which at that time I was already on my way out of there .And after I thought about why I would have been banned from front desk guy Jay's property I remembered why I would banned I had gotten a friend a room that had no ID card he didn't trash the room either and it wasn't the room he accused me of trashing very unprofessional front desk guy Jay . ...
