So disappointed! We are seniors and just finished a 10-mile hike about 6pm and were looking forward to relaxing afterward. When we got to the motel, there was nobody there! A white board outside had a list of guests and we were not on it! There was a phone number on the board to call. I called. No answer. Was instructed to leave a message, and was immediately advised the mail was full! This happened four times. Just when I was about to give up and search for another place to stay Kyle Schuler, the owner, answered. He asked how I booked my room. I said online. He said that could be a problem! He said he would call me back with a room # and code to the room. He did so and stayed on the line while I tried the code. Took a while, but the code finally worked. He asked us to check the room, it looked clean, but so old! || Rustic indeed! I don't think anything has been replaced/updated since it was built in 1964. The temperature that day was around 90 degrees. No air conditioning, and the one window in the room that opened was broken! It would not stay up. We had to put a small cooler we had in the window to keep it open, and there was no screen to keep pests or intruders out. The curtains, carpet, and bathroom fixtures were probably 50 years old. The pedestal sink was full of cracks! The electrical outlets looked so old that we were afraid we would be electrocuted when we used them. We were not, fortunately. The bathroom and shower were so small you could barely turn around in them. I'm likely forgetting other issues.|| We managed to sleep some that night (the bed was actually acceptable) and got up early the next morning and left. I paid $141 for this! I feel totally ripped off! An adjustment is absolutely appropriate! More like $50 considering the above.||||Waiting for...
Read moreKinda looks like a sketchy murder motel when you roll up - broken windows, unkempt yard, peeling paint, junk strewn about...Internet barely works, which is probably a first-world remote worker issue more than anything (we stayed in an emergency situation for 2 weeks, and I had to work while here). Rooms are adequate, not super clean. Much akin to jail, you get a single roll of toilet paper, a towel, and a rag upon "check in". One microscopic trash can with one liner for the whole motel room - we utilized a 5 gallon pail and our own trash bags to rectify this. Bed is AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE, and fairly certain pretty new! Interesting crew of people staying here, everyone was friendly and kind. Every person we talked to had terrible luck communicating with the owners to get room info - they are off-site, and apparently they are too busy with other things to be too hands-on with the motel? ALL OF THAT ASIDE, the views are AMAZING, easy access to hiking and biking trails, and great 'rustic' motel experience. We had an unexpectedly awesome 2 week stay. I wish the owners would let me run this place and make it the awesome destination it should be.
Don't stay here if you don't want neighbors who potentially hang out, smoke weed, and have some beers! Saw a couple during our stay who did not appreciate the casual atmosphere that came with the cast of long...

July 2024, I paid $1,500 plus $250 deposit for a month-long stay at Sundance until August 15th. I am disabled and my elderly dog has cancer, so with the heat & fire danger, we needed a safe place to stay.
Due to the length of my stay, it was necessary to move me into two different rooms. I stayed only one week in the room where I faced an issue with mice, something I was equipped to deal with on my own. I caught one mouse the 2nd night, then I started catching more...the night before moving back to my previous room, I emptied my 2 traps during the night, catching a total of 4 mice in one day.
My move was delayed due to their cleaner being ill. It was annoying, since I had packed up my belongings to make a quick transfer, but I was so ready to get out of that mouse-infested room. I mentioned my discovery to them at that point, since it had become worse.
Within an hour, I received a phone call from Kim telling me I had to leave! I said, "Yes, I'm moving into the other room in the morning," as I was only 11 days into prepaid 30-night stay. He corrected me by saying, "No, you sealed your own fate" - by telling him about the mice, and continued by telling me I needed to leave the property in the morning.
I did receive a refund, thankfully, but I cannot more emphatically express this business should NOT be in operation...IT IS A HEALTH...
