My college sweetheart Amber used to work at your store in High School. Her Mother, Carol worked there as well. Amber was an amazing, smart, talented, funny, and beautiful girl. I was 19 when I met her and fell head over heels the moment I saw her and those amazing eyes back in the fall of 1992. They were good people, Amber, and her family. She had a younger brother by about 3 years and two much younger fraternal twin siblings. A boy and a girl. I miss those days hanging with her and everyone else. I miss Woody, Zach, The Grinch, Marshal, Lyons, Chado, Dusty, Chainsaw, Zach H., Glen, Zeek, Lisa, Sunshine, and all the rest. But, mostly I miss Amber. Those days are gone, but the memories are with me every day. She’s married now with two adult sons and a grandbaby! I often think about what could have been between us, but the past is the past. It’s time to put that behind me. So surf’s up, pray for powder, and raise your glasses to good health because that’s all we can ask for these days. But, I still haven’t forgotten about those eyes, in 30 years I’ve never been able to get those eyes out of my head. Oh, and the store...
Read moreLived in the area for 26 years. Never had a bad experience here. Like talking with employees, locals, and visitors. Often I just prefer the less crowded shopping experience vs Boulder. Prices are reasonable given your only options are going to Boulder, Lyons, Idaho Springs, or Estes Park. Always has been a hippy town so they have to be prudent about potential shop lifters and people carrying bags. Lots of lowlifes passing through, some not so good kids with bad parents too.
And the complaints about expired food, never seen it personally... But if you think something like re-packing old stuff only goes on in small groceries, you're delusional. Every major grocery chain does that legal or not. The CBC had a special documentary on it. If you only knew, you'd never buy groceries again anywhere!
I appreciate this store is available and has been an option during fires, floods, and pandemics. I appreciate they're still open serving the peak to peak area despite needing to cut hours...
Read moreNice assortment of many foods albeit much higher prices than you'd pay by driving to Boulder. Most employees are friendly and helpful but 1 lady manager is kinda grumpy so I avoid her on my weekly visits.
Addtional: This is an update I posted on another site reflection new conditions at this store... My experience is quite similar to several others (Mike M., Cali S. and Nancy R. for example). It's nice to have a local grocery store available, I even expect to pay a bit extra cuz it saves me a trip to Boulder or Evergreen but I DO NOT appreciate the older manager "ladys" attitude, she has been downright rude at one time or another to every member of my family for asking simple everyday questions. She needs to find employment that doesn't involve working with real people. With that said, EVERYONE ELSE I have encountered has been very happy to help out by answerng questions politely.
One bad apple..... Store owner, please pay attention or she will sink the ship for you and ALL...
