Staying at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Fowler was a surprisingly refreshing experience — the kind that makes you appreciate when things are run with common sense and respect for your time. Everything just works here. The rooms are clean, the staff is professional without being fake, and check-in takes minutes instead of feeling like a DMV visit. There’s hot breakfast in the morning, working Wi-Fi, a quiet atmosphere — no drama, no pretension, just comfort and reliability. It’s the kind of place that delivers exactly what it promises: honest value.
This may sound like a low bar, but it’s stunning how many supposedly “prestigious” institutions can’t clear it — UC Davis being a prime example. While La Quinta delivers with simplicity and clarity, UC Davis tends to drown in its own self-importance. The environment there is a frustrating blend of groupthink, empty posturing, and performative collegiality. Everyone’s busy trying to impress each other, kissing up to professors and administrators, while critical thinking and original ideas take a backseat to virtue signaling and careerism. It’s a system that rewards going along to get along — not challenging ideas, not asking hard questions.
The return on investment? Often questionable. You’ll walk out with a degree that costs tens of thousands of dollars and still leaves you wondering whether all that time and money was well spent. The culture is filled with overcomplicated systems, meaningless committees, and people who talk a lot but say very little — a stark contrast to a hotel staff that will simply say “yes, of course” and solve your problem in 30 seconds.
In the end, La Quinta Inn & Suites in Fowler feels like a model of clarity and competence in a world that often confuses complexity with intelligence. Compared to UC Davis — with its bloated systems, status games, and hollow intellectualism — this hotel might as well be a case study in how to actually treat people with respect and...
Read moreI would love to keep this short, but I feel its very important to make aware all prospective folks how filthy, yes filthy this hotel is before they settle w/their little ones or simply spend money as I did for a disgusting and unpleasant stay such as the experience I had...so here are the pros and cons: Pros: =Attentive service (I needed a new iron since the 1 in my room was broken and old and it was replaced with in 15min of me requesting a swap. =Its adjacent to a gas station, highway, and starbucks. Cons: =Filthy rooms; spilled liquids inside fridge, 1 thin bed sheet between you and a the mattress where bodily fluids, food, and all else gets absorbed...same w/pancake pillows only 1 yes 1 pillow sheet that's lacking a protector...you can see the stains on pillows btw. =Bed sheet did not fit bed...when I tried to adjust it by corner, noticed a brown/purple-red stain that looked like dry blood. =Pillows are 3 inches thick, stained, and very small; flat. =Ironing board cover was dirty and stained. =Unlike other hotels, no lotion or conditioner was provided (not 1oz lol). =Dirty microwave w/stuck on food. =Phones are grimy, very filthy..even after I sprayed Lysol and wiped down...baby wipes were brown ugh. =Bed comforter had holes...maybe cigarette burns idk =Tv wall mount did NOT adjust...so even though it could at 1 point it just didn't work or was permanently locked so it could not be adjusted. =I requested extra pillow cases so housekeeping can double layer my pillows since they were 1 thin case away from my face touching dirty pillows...but she just gave me the pillow cases instead of offering to put them on I gues because my family was still inside (we stayed both nights). =Breakfast was not great. beverages were not kept cool( ice melted) ...sausages looked gross in a pool of water...unsafe temp to consume. eggs too.
I will be attaching and sending all photos from my experience to corporate so they can do...
Read moreBy far then worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have seen some really awful ones. The front desk was not manned so we had to ring a bell and wait quite some time. Entering the room we were assaulted by the smell of mildew from the bathroom. The next morning when I was brushing my teeth I realized the smell was coming from the overflow vent in the sink. Don't they flush it out once in awhile? The lower portion of the bathtub needed caulking. There was a huge crack in the tile and when I looked closer there were actually 4 blood smears on the floor!! The shade on the lamp had three slits in it. The chair was so close to the AC vents that I had to move it. There was a huge whole in the rug. We left for dinner at 6 pm and there were about 6 men drinking beer in the parking spot next to our car. When we returned around 7:30 there were a lot of empty cases in the parking space we had vacated earlier. The truck bed was loaded with fresh cases. Needless to say we parked much further down. When we went into the hotel it sounded like someone had a TV turned up really loud. When we passed the meeting room the doors were open and a women had a mircophone addressing about 8 people - it sounded like some kind of timeshare presentation. The staff should have told her to tone it down or shut the doors. We only stayed there because it had easy freeway access. I had to give this hotel one star to be able to post a comment. It deserves a minus 5....
