Upon checking in on Friday evening, a man with a flat affect came to the desk without greeting us. I asked if there were other types of rooms available as I had booked a King, but 2 queens would have been more comfortable for my family. He refused to accommodate the change despite having rooms, and made a vague reference to "the computer system would not allow it." This tells me a few things. 1) You have taught or enabled your staff to value accommodating the "system" over accommodating the guest in front of them. 2) There is questionable tech literacy amongst your staff and further training is warranted. 3) Despite taking space in the hospitality industry, you do not understand the concept of hospitality. FYI - The creepy vibes continued throughout the weekend. Across 3 separate shifts, no one greeted us as we entered the hotel. Instead, they stared at us and watched us walk by. Finally, Sunday morning, a woman at the front desk said hello. We were not informed of the lack of housekeeping service upon check-in. This is curious as we have traveled abroad recently, and several other hotels in various other countries have resumed their service. The public health emergency is over. The rates over the weekend were absurd for the level of service provided. At 6am, the shower water remained cold despite running for a bit and adjusting the lever. When you begin with the antithesis of hospitality, it is easy to then notice every little detail. I work hard. In my industry, this overt show of disrespect would garner punitive action. When I travel, I expect to be treated with common courtesy as I am always courteous. ...
Read moreWhat a wonderful stay at the Fairfield inn in Franklin, Indiana this past Saturday. We knew it would be a great stay as soon as we saw all the little leaguers that surely would be in the MLB soon. We also knew the parents would keep them under control and most likely in bed ready for their next venture to the diamond. Well, we were wrong. We came back to the property around 9:30 pm welcomed with little leaguers running all over the hotel. We thought they were all looking for the restroom, however when we saw those in the pool we knew that was not the case. From what I could tell though, they were well hydrated as the pool wasn't as yellow as I'd thought it would be. Now you are probably wondering what the parents were doing. Well the NBA finals were on, so hey you know we all love them patriots. A couple parents either had very tight undies, or just were so in love with them that they felt like they had to scream louder than the kids to let everyone know they were dedicated fans. Some of the other parents were hanging out on the patio while the kids were emptying the pool with all their sloshing and diving. I will admit they left the pool door to the outside open, just in case the walkway got too wet and the water needed another place to go. Perhaps the pandemic has had me locked up for too long, or I just realized that these particular people just were too ignorant to realize what was going on. It was midnight when everything calmed down. I mean they probably had half the hotel rented so I guess you could say it was theirs's for that night and we were just fillers for the rest...
Read moreMy stay at this property lasted approximately three months for business purposes. The front desk was great, ensuring I received my mail and packages, as well as recognizing my Bonvoy status. I was upgraded to a suite for the duration of the stay. I did not partake in their breakfast, but noticed that it was always up and running and usually busy. The gym and swimming pool are adequate for this level of property. Close to eateries and downtown Franklin (try Jibs BBQ).
The major complaint I have is with the room cleaning service provided. It is stated upon check-in that cleaning will occur once a week, however I went one stretch where a cleaning crew didn’t come for three weeks. After bringing this to their attention it was still hit or miss. Once the room was cleaned twice in one week, but generally I need to call down every two weeks to have someone actually show up. The cleanings are also not complete. I had to make separate requests for vacuuming, bathroom mopping and new bedding. I think there’s a lack of proper management for this function, which needs to be addressed.
That said, I stayed for three months and never considered rebooking elsewhere. Overall the experience has been good, but fixing the cleaning issues could have made...
